“On Relationships In Your Political Life”

noreply@blogger.com (CoyotePrime) at Running 'Cause I Can't Fly - 29 minutes ago
*“On Relationships In Your Political Life”* by Karl Denninger “How many of you have ever been in an abusive relationship? Do you currently adhere to a political party - more than just voting, but actually adhering to one? You know what I’m talking about - phone banking, making and distributing signs, public advocacy, maybe even more. Maybe you’re a precinct captain, one of the folks who “runs” a county-level political organization, or perhaps you’re involved at the state or even national levels. If so, have you ever stopped to consider whether or not you’re actually part of an... more »

Norquist - Thinks HE is Georgia! Thinks HE is God.

Norquist’s response was sparked by an interview Chambliss gave to a local Georgia station on Thursday where the senator said “I care more about my country than I do about a 20-year-old pledge.” “If we do it his way then we’ll continue in debt, and I just have a disagreement with him about that,” Chambliss added. SNIP Chambliss on Thursday had said he understood some conservatives would criticize his decision and might challenge him in 2014, when he is up for reelection. “I'm willing to do the right thing and let the political consequences take care of themselves,” the senator sa... more »

Today's All-American WalMart Strike

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 2 hours ago
Early this morning Senator Bernie Sanders tweeted that "WalMart has established over 4,400 factories in China where workers have been paid as little as 16 cents per hour." If you're ready to shrug your shoulders and say that that isn't your problem, stop and think for a moment. You've heard of outsourcing and off-shoring, right? This is what it is and this why the American plutocrats who control 100% of the Republican Party and perhaps half the Democratic Party say American workers have it too good and need to compete. They'd like to see U.S. unions destroyed and U.S. workers comp... more »

Yet Even More on the Live Filibuster

Jonathan Bernstein at A plain blog about politics - 2 hours ago
Yes, I'm back on this one: the futility of the reformers' romantic attachment to "talking" filibusters. I'd give it a rest, but we're only weeks away from when reform will (probably) be considered At any rate: several people more expert than myself have talked about this over the last week, and if you still think the focus on forcing the majority to talk is a good idea, I recommend looking at what they have to say. First, Greg Koger had a very interesting post pointing out that whether a Merkley-style reform would work depends a lot on how exactly the rules are changed. It's not en... more »

Walmart is always the focus of our Black Friday voyeurism though all the big box stores are just as guilty of exploiting their workers and ruining the formerly thriving Main Streets of our youth. Osama Bin Laden, also known as US CIA agent Tim Osman, died in the mountains of northeastern Afghanistan sometime around December 13th, 2001. His death was due to complications from his long bout with kidney failure. This man had NOTHING at all to do with the Israeli attacks of September 11th, 2001 on America that took 3000 innocent lives. Osama bin Laden was used as the fall guy or patsy for that attack for the criminal US government to lay blame just to have their "boogeyman" and to get their fraudulent "war on terror" off and running. The British Public Support the Palestinians

. Having been horrified by BBC News coverage of the Gaza 'conflict' or 'war' over the past week, I watched Question Time last night with some curiosity to see if any kind of alternative view was expressed by the public. For myself and many others, Question Time is usually a brain-dead Zion-friendly horror show. The audience is packed with local representatives from the three main parties and we tend to always hear presentations from a strongly pro-Jewish contingent (I'm not blaming the BBC or David Dimbleby for this. Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 15 hours ago
An outbreak of bird flu in the NSW lower Hunter region has been eradicated after authorities culled 50,000 chickens at an egg farm. Tests from 12 nearby properties confirmed the virus hadn't spread, but the Maitland facility would remain quarantined while disinfection and surveillance were completed, The NSW Department of Primary Industries (DPI) said. The virus detected at the Maitland facility was not the H5N1 strain that can fatally infect humans. http://www.skynews.com.au/topstories/article.aspx?id=818910

Flower pots are great for all kinds of things - not just babysitting. Photo courtesy: delightfulchaos.com I am a hopeless gardener. Life has no meaning if I'm not gardening. In the winter, I content myself with my indoor plants; and, planning next year's garden, of course. Besides, satisfying my craving for dirty hands, these uses for pre-owned flower pots recycle, reduce, reuse and repurpose pots that otherwise would have landed in the landfill. Gulf Breeze, Florida (PNJ) -- Tom the turkey had lived happily on Brian and Christa Caponi's 6-acre spread in Gulf Breeze for the past year along with their menagerie of cats, goats, a dog, chickens and roosters. He was special among their 50 or so animals, Christa said. "He was a family pet," she said. "It was like having a normal family dog." James Bond, Ambiguously Gay Villains and Masculinity

Egypt protest call over President Mursi's sweeping powers

Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 16 hours ago
Opposition leaders in Egypt have called for large protests after President Mohammed Mursi passed a decree giving himself sweeping new powers. The decree states the president's decisions cannot be revoked by any authority - including the judiciary. It also opens the way for a retrial of people convicted of killings during Egypt's 2011 uprising which toppled President Hosni Mubarak. Mr Mursi's critics have denounced the move as a "coup against legitimacy". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-20458148

For Israel, Gaza Conflict Is Test for an Iran Confrontation

Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 16 hours ago
The conflict that ended, for now, in a cease-fire between Hamas and Israel seemed like the latest episode in a periodic showdown. But there was a second, strategic agenda unfolding, according to American and Israeli officials: The exchange was something of a practice run for any future armed confrontation with Iran, featuring improved rockets that can reach Jerusalem and new antimissile systems to counter them. It is Iran, of course, that most preoccupies Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Obama. While disagreeing on tactics, both have made it clear that time is short,... more »

I sometimes wonder just what pundits are thinking. Israel has just used Gaza as a shooting gallery without seriously risking life and limb and sharply reducing the actual missile threat posed by Hamas.
