Sometimes, security cameras catch something entirely different

It's time to put an end to naive, stupid, ignorant belief in the propaganda of government agencies.

The war on Gaza is a purely belligerent, orchestrated act, planned and deliberately carried out by the State of Israel with the aim of domination and ultimate extermination of the Palestinian people.

I declare myself to be "on side" with the Palestinians against this monstrosity that is the State of Israel.

I am not "on side" with Hamas as I believe they are construct which serves the interests of the military industrial complex.

Fanatical, violent organisations are first created by violence - cf: the Khmer Rouge, Taliban & IRA - it's not hard to figure out how this happens - just look at the trauma created in families by the endless repression and casual brutality meted out by the occupying powers.

It would happen in Australia too, if we were under military occupation.

The tragedy is that the world stands by and lets Palestine be exterminated. We are to blame for our gutless cringing attitude towards the powers that be.

Ultimately we will pay the price for this collaboration with evil.

GAZA UPDATE #4 - Evening Edition, November 19, 2012:

Palestinian Christians & Muslims march together against the Zionist aggression against Gaza, in Nazareth: http://bit.ly/URGDcf

A total of 107 people had been killed since Wednesday morning, when Israeli airstrikes began. The dead included at least 26 children, 10 women and 12 men over 50, who were presumably not involved in combat. Of the rema
inder, at least 36 are known militants. Hamas officials said more than 860 have been wounded, 260 of them children, 140 of them women and 55 men over 50.

An Israeli bomb pummeled a home deep into the ground here on Sunday, killing 11 people, including nine in three generations of a single family, in the deadliest single strike since the latest conflict began. Members of the family were buried Monday in a rite that turned into a gesture of defiance and became a rally supporting Gaza’s militant Hamas rulers. http://nyti.ms/URA7Cl

Who is doing the killing in Gaza? Noam Chomsky and others challenge world's media: The degree of terror felt by ordinary Palestinian civilians in Gaza is barely noticed in the media, in stark contrast to the world's awareness of terrorized and shock-treated Israeli citizens. http://bit.ly/Q6evj0

It was only last week I was writing the words “stay safe” to a few friends in New York. It was heartwarming to see my Facebook wall light up with messages of support and solidarity for distressed New Yorkers; it was a moment that pierced the shallowness and self-promotion I normally associate with the medium. When the bombing of Gaza started I began to see receive messages telling me to “stay safe.” The words “stay safe” aimed in the direction of Palestinians takes on a different meaning; it requires the sender of the message to take a position that may cost them friends in their own circle. (In this instance to stay quiet might be the least costly of stances, and perhaps the least confusing, too.) However even this verbal support has since ebbed away. The result is a deafening silence from friends who, it seems, feel unable to send messages of support.

In the absence of real pressure from President Obama and the leaders of other Western states
to reign in Israel, it becomes all the more important for the silent majority to speak out. It is why I believe we must work much harder to reach out to those unsure of who is the oppressed, and who the oppressor. We sometimes get caught up in our own social networks, assuming that an article shared amongst ourselves has the same purchase elsewhere. The truth is that the majority does not know and ultimately does not care. Many amongst them are still unsure if supporting Palestine is tantamount to endorsing terrorism. In the future I hope that many more of my Western friends feel confident that comforting me with the words “stay safe” is not as controversial as they might think, and that it means more to Palestinians in Gaza right now than anything their leaders might say.

‎"The idea was that dispersants would dissolve the oil and that what was left would be strongly diluted in the sea water. This would cause very little environmental damage. But it appears that a lot of dirt has sunk in flakes to the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico, forming a thick layer gunk on the seafloor. Life on the seabed, and thus the entire ecosystem, is suffering severely from this pollution. So, although the visible damage of the disaster is relatively limited, considering that during a period of three months millions of gallons of oil flowed into the sea, out of sight, at 800 meters depth, a significant environmental disaster is occurring."

A NONPROFIT GROUP CLAIMS BP URGED IT TO HIRE A SOFT-CORE PORN PEDDLER TO TEACH KIDS PIPELINE SAFETY: Danielle Dawn Smalley was with her boyfriend at her Kaufman County home in August 1996 when a spark from her father's truck ignited a cloud of butane escaping from a corroded pipeline. The explosion killed the 17-year-old couple instantaneously. Smalley's death would ultimately lead a jury to order Koch Industries, which operated the pipeline, to pay $296 million in damages in what was the largest wrongful death award in the country's history. The case was ultimately settled for an undisclosed amount after Koch Industries appealed. The other thing that came from the explosion was the Danielle Dawn Smalley Foundation, which Danny Smalley established in 2002 in honor of his daughter, to educate first responders and the general public about the dangers of oil and gas pipelines. That's what the foundation had been doing for eight years when, in 2010
, it began working with an industry partner, BP, to develop a safety program targeted at elementary school students and their teachers in Gregg County, about 120 miles east of Dallas. At BP's urging, the foundation enlisted Julie Elledge, a Wyoming psychotherapist who runs an education consulting organization called the StoryQuest Initiative, to develop the curriculum. Its executive director, Michelle Joseph, wrote a letter to BP dated September 5 worrying that Videos for Lovers "frankly borders on pornography," and that Elledge's affiliation with it "could derail this entire program." In response, Elledge's attorney sent a cease and desist letter noting that Elledge is a licensed therapist and demanding the foundation stop telling BP that she produced pornography. Then, the lawsuit. DDSF charges Elledge with breach of contract, interference with contractual relations (in the foundation's agreement with BP), and misrepresentation, all centered on the fact that Elledge never mentioned she was involved with Videos for Lovers. The nonprofit doesn't specify damages, explicitly asking only for declaratory judgment that its communication with BP was not defamatory and for court costs, attorneys fees, and any further relief to which it is entitled.  The School Sucks Project

1. The twelve-year process of an American public education has a dramatic effect on the mind of a child. When we first enter school at age six, many of our best personal attributes are already in place. We are curious, innovative, unique, creative and hopeful in ways that we will rarely be able to replicate throughout the rest of our lives. But over time, school sucks those essential attributes out of too many of us...and replaces them with predictability, obedience and apathy.

2. The public school system sucks off the productive capacity of hard-working people. The system is funded through taxation.  In other words, whether public education succeeds or fails (spoiler alert: it fails) at providing real education to the public, the cost goes up every year. There are no refunds.

Trivium

Education
For if you [the rulers] suffer your people to be ill-educated, and their manners to be corrupted from their infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded from this, but that you first make thieves [and outlaws] and then punish them.
-Sir Thomas More (1478-1535), Utopia, Book 1

Church Committee Reports
FBI’s COINTELPRO operation, a counter-intelligence campaign directed at domestic dissidents during the period of civil rights and anti-war discontent.

Counterinsurgency theory, once celebrated as having pulled Iraq back from the brink, is now in crisis due to its record in Afghanistan. Considering both the contribution of counterinsurgency theory to military thinking and its limitations as a concept, it remains valuable, even if the term "counterinsurgency theory" once again is cast aside. The theory provides not a strategy or campaign plan but rather a collection of insights and principles. The value of the theory depends on what is expected from it. Some insights based on counterinsurgency theory appear commonsensical but nonetheless challenge dominant misconceptions about the nature of war. The lessons of recent counterinsurgency campaigns must therefore be retained for future military interventions—and prompt greater caution among military strategists and policymakers about such undertakings. Careful study and research are needed to determine how best to apply this theory to future operations, and it is fair to say that it is better at raising the right questions than in providing the answers.

Colombia's New Counterinsurgency Plan
Columbia has been in conflict since its creation as a Republic in 1819. In the past 50 years the plan has centered on Marxist insurgencies and the cocaine trade. Each new government plan to deal with these insurgencies has evolved from previous plans, though since the late 1990`s these plans have relied increasingly on U.S. counterinsurgency doctrine. Nearly 80 percent of counterinsurgency funding, all of which came from the United States (which has spent nearly $7 billion in Colombia since 2000), went to the Colombian military and police, while developmental aid from other countries never fully materialized. Peace talks failed, the military moved into the demilitarized zone and the conflict escalated.

During his presidential campaign, Barack Obama criticized the Bush administration for its excessive secrecy, noting that it had ‘invoked a legal tool known as the ’state secrets’ privilege more than any other previous administration to get cases thrown out of civil court.’ Obama also promised to end ‘extraordinary rendition’ …. But last week the Obama administration used the state secrets privilege to block a lawsuit by five former captives who say they were tortured as a result of extraordinary rendition. Although candidate Obama surely would have been outraged, President Obama is for some reason less concerned about abuses of executive power...

Apparently we can rely on Kevin Schmidt to repeatedly reiterate an obvious slur : that anyone following the principles of Scientific Method to properly dispute the idea that a change based on computer math games is immune to the usual caveat of G.I.G.O.; or Garbage In = Garbage Out; must of necessity be paid agent of environmental despoilers. After all, there is absolutely no way to verify that the whole scenario is not gobbledegook designed to raise an international energy tax payable to the IPCC.
Note that if the premise were real, this would result in less money available for adapting to other energy schemes - if any actually work. Not that there is any shortage of other people flogging the same trope - a Red Flag that free discussion is being impeded. Nor do Search Returns seem to cooperate with requests for dissenting views.
Ahem. You wouldn't consider a trial to be properly run if differing theories were not considered. Conflating allied concerns - environmental despoilation/resource depletion- with a tax scheme known to hinder business and run up charges on unproven schemes while opening up a market for trading in a chimera alleged to be consensus ( that's politics, not science ) and prosecuted for fraudulent trading since 2005 should raise hackles - especially when the economy can't operate under less restrictive terms.
How can one prove a model is properly constructed in the first place...let alone that there is valid technique of extrapolation when results are not available to be checked?
I've followed geopolitics and energy monopolism for a while now. This is very much market related....and the screams of anguish have scarcely started.
I can't deal with the topic properly in comments. Global Research.ca has kept a section on this - and Prof Chussdovsky is both a disbeliever and an intelligence analyst. Beyond the oozone layer

Despite occasional pockets of scepticism, such as Peter Glover's article in BJR late last year, the days when journalists would report on climate change by balancing “pro” and “sceptic” voices, or by knocking the human-induced climate-change argument with prominent coverage of an alternative theory, already seem a distant memory in the UK. This marked change in the treatment of climate change in the British media has helped lay the ground for a dramatic shift in the quality of public debate around the issue.

This article could benefit from some solid research about the attitudes of the already very diverse Hispano-American/Latino and Asian-American communities toward race. (Start with the importance of African and Creole culture TO Latino culture, work your way from there.) Lotta different Latino communities out there–Puerto Rican immigrants changing Florida as we speak. Other than throwing out the idea that the Republicans could try to divide those communities from Black people, this article goes nowhere. Meanwhile, you’ll have a hard time convincing anyone that the animating feature of Republicanism isn’t hostility toward the Other in the first place. No way they get out from under that anytime soon.
Beyond that, you’re still looking at the world IN black and white, as if the Dems had some kind of monopoloy on virtue, which is tiresome. The fact that Obama helps move this settler colony beyond white supremacy doesn’t change much; he still presides over a racist construct, bombing brown people in Pakistan and North Africa, militarizing North Africa, giving his seal of approval to Israel’s bombing of brown people in Palestine. Doesn’t brings more justice, freedom, or middle class prosperity. On the contrary. . .

IE10 for windows 7 is available

in a preview form. But it will replace your IE9, so before installing it just ensure you know what you are doing. Everything went smooth during installation, but it took like 5-6 minutes to get from black screen to my desktop. Was a bit scary.

Overall, it looks just like IE9, only with ugly scrollbars. But not let the view fool you. Under the hood its a friking monster.
http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/Chalkboard/ - 9 seconds in IE10 (HWA on by default) vs 40 second in Opera (HWA on) vs 500~750 seconds in Chrome and Firefox (HWA off).

Very good rendering of css3, unique font rendering capabilities ( http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Graphics/OpenType/ ), and responsive interface under js load ( http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Performance/RoboHornetPro/ ).

JS engine (Chakra) was improved, with full ES5.1 support added, but it still cannot beat V8 (in V8 bench), though it was not a top priority, as we can see. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/ie/archive/2012/06/13/advances-in-javascript-performance-in-ie10-and-windows-8.aspx

of course, there is benchmarketing, as always: IE9 has had good audio quality (if you remember Cut the Rope HTML5), IE10 supposedly improves it, which can supposedly seen via (warning: very loud music!)http://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Browser/AudioExplosion/ , but when you go there in Firefox/Opera - you will hear nothing, because... *.ogg file is missing from server ?!

also, there is no spellchecking for some reason (even at IE Test drive: https://ie.microsoft.com/testdrive/Browser/SpellChecking/Default.html), but maybe its a bug of win7 preview, or this feature requires win8.
