SUSAN RICE CLARIFICATION WATCH: Where does Standard Group Paraphrase come from!
*FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2012*
*In your view, what did Rice say:* We awoke this morning to NBC’s Tracie
Potts. She was paraphrasing Susan Rice on the cable show, Early Look.
We can find no record of what Potts said, though her very unhelpful
paraphrase turned on a key word—“spontaneous.”
But in yesterday morning’s New York Times, reporter Mark Landler offered
this Standard Paraphrase of What Rice Really Said. We don’t think this is
good work:

Oil-Rig Fire in Gulf of Mexico: 2 Dead
Coast Guard officials said they are investigating a fire at an oil-drilling
platform off the coast of Louisiana.
A parish official said the rig isn't drilling at a deep-water site like the
Macondo well that blew out in 2010. That blowout led to an explosion that
killed 11 workers and led to the worst offshore oil spill in U.S. history.

A Way With Words
As Glenn Greenwald and others have cogently pointed out, the American media
have been displaying a definite neo-con/neo-liberal bias when it comes to
coverage of the recent Israel/Gaza violence. Israeli casualties are
always mentioned in the first graf of New York Times stories, for example,
while that much worse and so unfortunate "collateral damage" inflicted on
the Palestinian side gets buried deep within the sixth or seventh paragraph.
And the coverage also reflects the dawning of the new age of War by Tweet.

Developers and Military/Industrial Complex Bump Heads in Sacramento County
Rachel Rindfleisch at Contaminated Nation - Water Contamination, Land Pollution & Hazardous Waste locations - 1 hour ago
By: Duane Craig
A now defunct housing development in Sacramento County is still haunting
the developers who originally had to find sources of water other than
groundwater to move on with the project, according to this Sacramento
Business Journal article.
At the center of the controversy are a number of aviation manufacturers
including Aerojet, Boeing and McDonnell Douglas. In a lawsuit, the
developers, allege that the manufacturers released hazardous substances
into eastern Sacramento County. Those substances, the developers say,
contaminated the ground water, requiring them to spe... more »
Sexual harassment constitutes sexual discrimination
*Friedmann v. MacGarvie*, 2012 BCCA 445 is a source for the proposition
that sexual harassment constitutes sexual discrimination:

received by him or her is to introduce evidence of the treatment of persons
who did not share the group characteristic. However, that is not the only
way in which it can be demonstrated. In a sexual harassment case, the very

France at war with The Economist after British magazine declares country as Europe's 'time bomb'
French officials blasted weekly British magazine The Economist after its
front cover claimed that France was the 'time-bomb at the heart of Europe'.
They accused the magazine of sensationalist journalism and compared the
publication to Charlie Hebdo, the French magazine which carried cartoons of
Prophet Muhammad naked in September.
The Economist's front cover showed seven baguettes held together by a
French tricolour with a lit fuse protruding from the centre.

Yesterday, I watched Al Gore's "Dirty Weather" show for about 30 minutes in

Casey refused to vote for the Tory budget of the day because of Harper’s

Ballot box rout gives Cameron ANOTHER headache over Europe as fed-up Tories flock to UKIP in Corby by-election
David Cameron will today face fresh pressure to take a tougher line on
Europe after thousands of disgruntled Tory voters backed the UK
Independence Party in key elections.
UKIP is expected to have cost the Conservatives major support in the Corby
by-election to choose a replacement for Tory Louise Mensch, who quit as the
town's MP to live in America.
It is also thought that a surge in Eurosceptic support and protest votes
for Nigel Farage's UKIP could deprive the Tories of victory in some of the

ECB risks inflation remit if supervises banks: Weidmann
Putting the European Central Bank in charge of banking supervision in
Europe risks compromising the ECB's primary goal of price stability,
governing council member Jens Weidmann said.
In a guest column in German financial daily Handelsblatt on Friday, he also
said such a union should not be rushed, and that it would need a mechanism
to wind down and restructure banks that should be funded by the lenders
themselves.
The mechanism "should only use national or European tax funds on a

This item from Brian Hicks in his energy newsletter spells it out pretty
clearly. The advent of horizontal fracking combined with full completion
along the entire reservoir bore length has turned over the apple cart. The
low hanging fruit has turned out to be the large depleted and well explored
legacy reservoirs in the USA. We are now really going after all that stuff
we walked away from decades ago.
What this all means is that the North American market can exit the global
oil market and in fact begin supplying oil in competition to Asia and

Arab Spring for Gaza and End Game for Israel
As we write this, heavy fighting is under way and Israel is preparing to
invade Gaza. I am curious just what their war aims will be this time?
The reason we must ask this question is that conditions on the ground are
utterly changed. All potential threats to an Israeli coup de main have
been neutralized totally. Syria is militarily hors de combat. Hezbollah
has lost its sponsor in Iran and Syria and is penned in with hostile
borders. Jordan continues to work at maintaining the Status Quo. And Egypt

Ongoing Radiation in Fukushima NearShore
What this suggests unfortunately is that radionuclides collected in the

this could even be a practical solution.
This also implies that it remains largely localized and can be dealt with.
The real problem of course is that our present solutions for handling
radioactive waste remain unsatisfactory. Reasonable solutions are possible

New Israeli Assault On Gaza: Hypocrisy Of Slaughter - Israel's Orwellian Account Of Gaza Campaign
The recent attacks by the Israeli forces against the innocent people of
Gaza is now escalating out of control. It will only be a matter of time
now before the IDF rolls in its troops and tanks into the densely populated
strip, and slaughters tens of thousands of innocent Palestinians in the
process.
We have already seen the antics of the Israeli Mossad agent provocateurs
with their bottle rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip back into Israel, and
up until yesterday, the rockets have hit nothing except open fields. But
today, we have reports of several much larger (Mossad launched) m... more »
Christy Clark`s $60 million dollar "Iconic" Photo-op
Pat Bell, the BC Liberal minister having to answer questions from the
press, questions as to why the Government turned down $44 million dollars
for the naming rights of BC Place....
Pat Bell`s answer at that time was lame, it`s still lame..
Before we get started, what is the meaning of the word *"iconic"*.....
*Answer:*
*An icon is a representation, hence a religious representation, and hence a
very powerful symbol. Iconic means "like a symbol."*
Perhaps the name Terry Fox is iconic in British Columbia, maybe the name
Trevor Linden, maybe the name Tommy Douglas, but come on...

"A Look to the Heavens"
“How many arches can you count in the above image? If you count both spans
of the Double Arch in the Arches National Park in Utah, USA, then two. But
since the below image was taken during a clear dark night, it caught a
photogenic third arch far in the distance- that of the overreaching Milky
Way Galaxy.
*Click image for larger size. *
Because we are situated in the midst of the spiral Milky Way Galaxy, the
band of the central disk appears all around us. The sandstone arches of the
Double Arch were formed from the erosion of falling water. The larger arch
rises over 30 meters a... more »

"Summon Your Aliveness: Being Fully Present"
*"Summon Your Aliveness: Being Fully Present"*
by Madisyn Taylor, The DailyOM
"When we live fully in the moment there is an aliveness that comes easily.
When we are fully present, we offer our whole selves to whatever it is that
we are doing. Our attention, our integrity, and our energy are all focused
in the moment and on the task at hand. This is a powerful experience, and
when we are in this state, we feel completely alive and invigorated. This
kind of aliveness comes easily when we are absorbed in work or play that we
love, but it is available to us in every moment, and we ca... more »
We could have had it All if we allowed God to go Before Us
*And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with
thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us,
O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this
multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee.
II Chronicles 14:11*

sought first the kingdom of God as our founding fathers did. Following

Important Health News: Time For A Wakeup Call - The Vaccination Hoax Debunked!
As I have said in many previous articles, I am truly amazed when I see so
many people lined up in front of pharmacies like sheep, willing to roll up
their arms and take their deadly shot of "vaccine" like zombies. It is
even more disgusting now, here in Canada at least, when I see stores
offering rewards, such as cash or merchandise incentives, to take their
"free" seasonal vaccines! I have reached the point now that I cannot
possibly even convince these brainwashed individuals that what they are
doing is absolutely wrong, so again, when I see them lined up like cattle,
I just tu... more »
