US Shale Gas Drives Up Coal Exports - Tyndall Manchester Research
A report by researchers at Tyndall Manchester has concluded that whilst the US is burning less coal due to shale gas production, millions of tonnes of unused coal are being exported to the UK, Europe and Asia. As a result, the emissions benefits of switching fuels are overstated.( Looking at this report after reading The Hostmen - The World's First Fuel Cartel gives a whole new perspective on who is representing what - and why. I noticed this site while scratching my head over the mission statement for Cefas, while somewhat impressed by thoughts of the historical research database available on ocean currents and conditions as recorded for centuries by the Royal Navy. European Space Agency approves Ariane 5 rocket upgrade, Yeah! We are Made of Money in Europe
European Space Agency (Esa) member states have resolved key issues at their
ministerial council and agreed a 10.1bn euro (£8.1bn) programme of
activities.
The big decisions included approval for an upgrade to Europe's Ariane 5
rocket in parallel with design work on a replacement for the early 2020s.
Backing was also given to the project to provide the propulsion unit for
Nasa's new manned capsule, Orion.

Republican Whoremonger Outpolls Romney
Lance Gilman is a happy camper. He was just elected County Commissioner in
Storey County, Nevada-- and elected by a wide margin. It's a tiny county--
population 4,010, horseshoed between Washoe (Reno) and Carson. Storey was
the only county in the state to vote to legalize marijuana in the 2006
referendum. Earlier this month, President Obama got 920 votes there (40%)
and Romney got 1,321 votes (57%). Of Nevada's 17 counties, Storey was the
5th best-performing for the president. Gilman, a grandfather, did better
than Romney, winning 62% of the vote.

Avian Flu H5N1 Outbreak in Bangladesh
BANGLADESH - An outbreak of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus caused
by the H5N1 virus has been reported at a commercial farm near Dhaka to the
OIE.
The outbreak was reported by Dr Musaddique Hossain, Director (Animal Health
& Administration), Department of Livestock Services, Ministry of Fisheries
and Livestock, in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Australia quarantines farm to contain H7 bird flu outbreak
Australia's first outbreak of a highly pathogenic bird flu virus in 15
years should be contained by a cull of 50,000 chickens, authorities said on
Friday, although they do not know what caused the case at an egg farm in
New South Wales state.
The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) said all chickens at the
property in Maitland, 160 km (100 miles) north of Sydney, will be destroyed
after the H7 virus was detected last week.

Gaza truce could pave way for new US peace push

ADHD Medication for prisoners so they have yet another excuse for their Behaviour
Treating a common behavioural disorder in convicted criminals could
dramatically reduce the risk of them re-offending, new research suggests.
One of the biggest studies of its kind has found that people diagnosed with
attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are at least 30% less
likely to commit crime if they are given medication.
The researchers now say that if prisoners suffering from ADHD were
identified and treated, the impact on the criminal justice system could be
significant.

UK Renters Warned About 'Rogue' Letting Agents
The lettings sector needs more regulation, the Royal Institution of
Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has said, after revealing a rise in the number
of so-called rogue agents.
Those renting properties are at risk of being taken advantage of by
unscrupulous agents amid "a total lack of effective regulation", RICS
warned after surveying 2,000 people.
The organisation said that renters had come to expect "worryingly low
standards", with two thirds of those questioned saying they had not been
given an inventory when they moved into a rented property in the last two
years.

Cameron To Insist On Austerity In EU Budget
David Cameron travels to Brussels later insisting that austerity being
enforced around Europe is reflected in the EU's budget.
He will join leaders from all 27 countries at a special summit to set the
European Union's spending limits from 2014 to 2020.
It is a complex and deeply divisive process, with the UK balking at the
European Commission's opening gambit - to increase the overall spending
ceiling to a maximum €1,091,000,000,000.
This was flatly rejected by Britain and nearly all the net contributors to

Legalise drugs–the debate
In response to the decision by Coloradan and Washingtonian voters to
legalise marijuana, the Obama administration admits that marijuana
legalization can do miracles.
According to the federal government, the price of pot will plummet
following legalization while remaining above the black-market level. Pot
will be dangerously cheap yet dangerously expensive at the same time.

The U.S. military has really fallen for this remote-controlled mayhem
business. The latest and greatest thing is the miniature, one-way drone.
It has a range of between 6 to 10-miles, it can loiter over the target from
10 to 30-minutes, and then it ends its service life by flying into the
ground, detonating a couple of pounds of high explosive. Some can be
controlled by a ground operator sitting in the safety of a cozy bunker.

Arizona Election Fraud: Supervisors Accept County Shenanigans, Reject a Proper Audit

audit of the 2012 general election ballots. This decision was made despite
seasoned statisticians and computer experts in its own Election Integrity
Commission indicating that the county's elections are not verifiable in

Paula Castle Murder: Boys of 14 and 15 Arrested
Two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with the murder of Paula
Castle, the Metropolitan Police have said.
The boys are aged 14 and 15, according to a statement released by Scotland
Yard.
"The males ... are in custody and will be taken to a London police station
in due course," the statement read.
"They have been arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery, the latter
count relating to a separate incident on 20 November."

A group of 90 schoolchildren fled from a volcano in New Zealand dubbed

GM corn variety 'cannot be regarded as safe': Author of study linking food to cancer issues new attack
The team of researchers who caused uproar when they claimed a variety of
genetically modified corn causes cancer has insisted the crop 'cannot be
regarded as safe'.
Leading scientists lined up to condemn the study after it was published two
months ago, saying it lacked scientific rigour and had made a series of
basic errors.

apparent miscarriage of justice. As a result a retrial of a murder charge

Although hundreds of Britons contract dengue fever every year, the majority
do so in tropical countries such as Thailand and India.
But with more than 1,300 people infected with the mosquito-borne disease in
the island of Madeira, Europe is experiencing its first sustained
transmission of dengue fever since the 1920s.

Failing are the words in the dust of Mars: 'Killroy was here...' NASA is
promising to reveal a "historic discovery" within the next weeks. Does this
refer to traces of flowing water, or microscopic life? We'll have to wait

Nasa's Mars Curiosity rover has reportedly made a major discovery on the
Red Planet - but scientists are keeping quiet about what it is.
The finding was made by the six-wheeled rover's Sample Analysis at Mars
(SAM) instrument in the Rocknest area of the Gale Crate, close to where the
rover touched down.
SAM is Curiosity's on-board chemistry lab and is able to take a sample of
Martian rock, soil or air and find out what it is made of.
Most importantly, it is capable of identifying organic compounds - carbon
containing substances that could indicate life.

record' conversations on internet chat services like Skype in real time.
Until now, so called voice over internet protocol (VoIP) services have been

The services convert analogue audio signals into digital data packets,
which are then sent in a way that is costly and complex for third parties

They are the horrific pictures which prove that a mysterious spate of
dolphin deaths along the northern Gulf Coast of America have nothing to do
with natural causes.
This bottlenose dolphin was found dead along the coastline of Mississippi
after being shot. When investigators examined the mammal, they found a
bullet inside its body.
It is one of a number of dolphins which have washed ashore along the
