Predatory Ebrima Dampha, 33, was caught on CCTV as he pounced on his

Merkel, in anxious Lisbon, hails austerity drive
Angela Merkel faced scattered protests on Monday in Lisbon, where she
delivered German endorsement of a government austerity drive designed to
honor a bailout loan but which critics fear may only deepen the slump.
"The situation is difficult but what Portugal is doing, it is for the

Barbara Lee Takes On Corporate Whore Joe Crowley For House Leadership
2 dangerously ambitious douche-bags with guitars
Sunday morning I was bemoaning the miserable state of the House Democratic
caucus leadership because progressives seemed to be leaving the field and
allowing the worst corporate shills to run away with everything. A
Democratic House leadership run by Steny Hoyer, Debbie Wasserman Schultz,
Steve Israel means that other than on social issues, the two Houses
caucuses are essentially equally bad and that corruption has been
institutionalized above any kind of principle of any set of values.

The Harper Party Election Scandal in Etobicoke Centre: A Gross Failure Of
The Administration Of Justice? A Tainted Judgement?
Readers may well believe a tainted judgement was handed down on October 25,
2012, by judges of the Supreme Court of Canada concerning the challenge of
the 2011 Conservative election victory in Etobicoke Centre. They may

No aid for Greece on Monday despite austerity vote
Euro zone governments will not agree to disburse more money to debt-ravaged
Greece on Monday, despite the country approving a tough 2013 budget,
because there is not yet a consensus on how to make its debts sustainable
into the next decade.
Finance ministers gathered in Brussels should, however, give Athens two
more years to make the budget deficit cuts demanded of it, a concession
that will require funding of around 32 billion euros, according to a draft
document prepared for the meeting.

Congress may plunge off cliff of its own creation
The "fiscal cliff," a metaphor drawn from nature, was actually created by
members of the U.S. Congress, who designed it to be so horrible that they
and the president would come to their senses and avert it in the nick of
time.
That time is now with the start this week of a lame-duck session of
Congress. But it is not at all certain that Republicans and Democrats are
ready to make the compromises necessary to undo the trap they set in August
2011.

Car hits landing plane - too high, too low?

This peculiar clip caught my attention. Was the SUV too high, or the Cessna
too low? I believe the latter seems to be the case. It reminded me of the
Jesenwang (EDMJ) airstrip near Munich, Germany. Across the touchdown zone
runs a road, with traffic lights. That's a solution when a plane comes in
too 'flat'. Luckily this mishap ended relatively well for all participants.
The pilot said that he won't fly anymore. If I were him I would immediately
take off again to start making touch-and-go's to get rid of my low and slow
approach attitude.

Aboriginal title
In Canadian law all lands are subject to the Crown, and this has been true
since Britain acquired much of Eastern Canada from France by the *Treaty of
Paris* (1763). However, the British and Canadian authorities recognized
that indigenous peoples already on the lands had a prior claim, Aboriginal

in direct contrast to the situation in Australia where the continent was

Polish police say 22 officers were hurt and 176 arrest made in right-wing march
Polish police say that 22 officers were injured in clashes with right-wing

It is the second year in a row that Independence Day celebrations in the

European austerity protests far from revolution
In a cafe near the former site of Paris's Bastille prison, activists held a
meeting last month to decide whether to join unions in protesting the

Only five people turned up at Cafe Maldoror, a favored haunt of the radical

Even in the city whose revolutionary credentials date back to the 1789
uprising that began at the gates of its famous gaol, calls to build a
European-wide popular front against the toughest budget cuts in a

Only the Faithless Suffer
In
past years for Armistice Day, we've looked at how denying loss can

It is not a regrowth of the cut spinal connection but it is a powerful
indication that the remaining nervous system can reroute messages to

this can be improved upon with therapy and application.
What it also tells us is that a practical protocol can be developed for
all victims with serious hope that two objectives are reasonable.

Feathered Dinosaurs Confirmed in North America
Of course by now, this was simply expected. Yet it is nice to have
outright confirmation.
I also suspect that many land based dinosaurs were feathered in order to
control temperature and to allow activity during the day. Our perception of
the age of dinosaurs has changed to having a large number of large
feathered bird like creatures running around sporting a pretty colorful
plumage.
We have also expanded the type of rocks capable of containing such fossils.

Tony Blair has a number of charities.
One is called the *Africa Governance Initiative*, and allegedly it's about
making money for people like Blair, and possibly it's about sending spooks
into Africa?
The* Africa Governance Initiative *has a base in Rwanda, where Blair has
been a long-time supporter of its 'murderous', 'mafia' leader Paul Kagame.

Matt's thoughts:*
I consider it important to show both sides of the story so everyone can
know what the results are, even if they feel the means and end are
justified. It's only be examining the repercussions that the circuit can be
broken.

Merkel to visit Lisbon, back austerity regime
Angela Merkel flies to Lisbon on Monday, bringing her personal endorsement
for a government battling to cut deficits under the terms of a
German-backed bailout as Portugal suffers its deepest slump since the 1970s.
"Portugal is meeting the commitments it has assumed very well," the
chancellor told Portuguese broadcaster RTP on Sunday - a vote of confidence
fellow conservative Prime Minister Pedro Passos Coelho will welcome, as he
presses compatriots to take more pain and tries to distance Portugal from
troubled Greece.
Merkel can expect less enthusiasm from the premier's opponents ... more »

A new carnivore shaped like a candelabra has been spotted in deep ocean
waters off California's Monterey Bay.
The meat-eating species was dubbed the "harp sponge," so-called because its
structure resembles a harp or lyre turned on its side.

Military past and present protest Portugal's 2013 budget
An estimated five thousand veterans and servicemen marched through the
streets of Lisbon, to show their anger at planned austerity measures.
Portugal is already feeling the strain and the budget for next year
approved by the centre-right government will bring even more cuts and tax
rises in an effort to save 5.3 billion euros.
“The 2013 budget proposes we make higher payments for medical care,
although the service is worse. We pay more for less,” said Sergeant Jose
Leitao.

Polish police repell ultranationalists
Warsaw has seen police fire rubber bullets and tear gas at right-wingers as
Poland marked its independence day. Several policemen were injured.
Polish authorities say two police officers were injured Sunday and several
extremists detained for throwing stones and metal objects. The
right-wingers disturbed one of the many marches which took place in Warsaw
to mark 94 years since Poland regained sovereignty at the close of WWI
after over 120 years of foreign rule.
"Today public life is poisoned by excessive rows," Polish President
Bronislaw Komorowski had said at the beginning of the ... more »

David Frum Says It Isn't The Democraphics Killing The GOP-- It's The Message
I hope you watched the video above. Most of it-- as you might expect if you
know anything about Joe Scarborough and his Villager guests-- is worthless,
but the David Frum parts are extremely valuable. They stand out like a sore
thumb from the rest of the drivel. For me the key segments were Frum trying
to get to the bottom of what's wrong with the GOP today. "Mitt Romney's
message," he tried explaining to a barely sentient Scarborough, "is 'I am
going to take away Medicare from everybody under 55; I'm going to cut
Medicaid for everybody by about a third, and I'm going to do that t... more »

Greece Passes 2013 Austerity Budget
Greek lawmakers have approved the country's 2013 austerity budget involving
fresh spending cuts.
The budget passed by a 167-128 vote in the 300-member Parliament.
It came days after a separate bill of deep spending cuts and tax hikes for
the next two years squeaked through with a narrow majority following severe
disagreements among the three parties in the governing coalition.

Sheep For Doom, Madmen For Peace
* Are you a sheep or a madman? *
"It is often said that if Christ were to come to the world now he would be
crucified again. This is not quite true. The world has changed; it now
rests on 'understanding'. So Christ would be ridiculed, treated like a
madman, but a madman one laughs at [...] Now I understand better and better
what an original and deep fundamental relation I have to the comic, and
this will be of use for me in illuminating Christianity." - Søren
Kierkegaard.

voters who buy into the logic of ... more »
The Pothole Gardener Writes a Book

The Pothole Gardener is a success story: they are calling him the "Banksyof Guerrilla Gardening". He started out doing tiny-and
ephemeral-installations in potholes on his street because he didn't have
his own garden. Creating a miniature scene, photographing it and seeing
what happened.
His renown grew: word of his creations was picked up by the press, his blog
had 25,000 hits a month.
And then the movie starring Brad Pitt, no, first the book: The Little Book

hurts the real constituents – the public, who pay the salaries of the ALEC
legislator. Increased revenues for the ALEC corporate profit sector members
by preying on the working poor.

Two birds with one stone
BY: Robert Zaller 05.09.2011
Barack Obama neutralized his two great enemies in one week, the elusive
Osama bin Laden and the excessively visible General David Petraeus. Each
operation depended on the other; both succeeded. But what is the moral cost
of a targeted assassination?

Billy Graham may not have been a religious crackpot, but he paved the way for a lot of them, including his son Franklin
*Is hate-mongering maniac Franklin Graham (right) abusing the name of his
94-year-old father Billy Graham (left) to promote his own crusade against
morality and decency?*
*"I do not believe that Billy Graham would have instigated the ad
essentially endorsing Romney. I wouldn’t be surprised if Billy Graham
didn’t even know about it. I think that he is being exploited by his son to
further Franklin’s political objectives."*
