Obama is for gun control but not terrorist control. He is arming people in Syria who look back at 9/11 with a twinkle in their eye. Zionists also share that same feeling about 9/11. America's Real Criminal Element: Lead

Rich Rifkin at Lexicon Daily - 10 hours ago
A new piece in Mother Jones magazine by Kevin Drum persuasively argues that the most significant factor in the rise in violent crime rates from the early 1960s to about 1990 was the introduction of lead in gasoline a generation earlier; and the ubiquitous fall in violent crime after 1990 is largely the result of taking lead additives out of gas in the 1970s. The hero of his story is a researcher named Rick Nevin: IN 1994, RICK NEVIN WAS A CONSULTANT working for the US Department of Housing and Urban Development on the costs and benefits of removing lead paint from old houses. What Mattered This Week?

Jonathan Bernstein at A plain blog about politics - 10 hours ago
I'll take the easy way out...sure, it matters that they passed the fiscal cliff bill. Plenty of stuff to talk about this week, though, considering that it was New Year's Day week. The revolt against John Boehner in the Speaker vote? I'm not sure it's a full "didn't matter," but it certainly was overrated. That's what I have. What about you? What do you think mattered this week?

Let the Great Spin Begin. Now that what's left of the left is almost universally lambasting the Great Feckless Cliff Aversion Act as a huge gift to the rich rather than the rescue of the middle class that the White House wants you to believe it is, the usual pseudo-liberal suspects of the corporate media are out in droves. Via Naked Capitalism comes a valuable tutorial cutting through the propaganda which, according to Yves Smith, is aiming to soften up the public for "entitlement reform." In the current issue of *Harper's*, there is a long feature by author Barry Lopez about the sexual abuse he endured as a child, and his path of recovery and healing. It may be the best first-person account of such trauma you will ever see. Right now it is only available on the newstand or online by subscription. * Harper's* makes most of their features available online eventually. However, if you have a personal or professional interest in child sexual abuse, I highly recommend buying a copy of the January 2013 issue of * Harper's* as soon as you can.
