Frontline mails it in about Rhee!

*THURSDAY, JANUARY 10, 2013* *On balance, a large waste of time:* Did Frontline decide to get tough on Michelle Rhee? Alex “Kid” Pareene said they might. But did it actually happen? We’d have to say no, it did not. On Tuesday evening, Frontline aired a program about Rhee’s three-year reign in the DC schools. But Frontline was late to the scene of the action, and it glossed almost all topics. For Frontline's preview, just click this. To watch the whole program, click here. Karoshi is the Japanese word that means death by fatigue that affects those who work beyond their natural limits. The death usually occurs with a heart attack due to the stress and work effort: the heart cannot bear the fatigue and stops. And if anyone thinks it's a tragic but picturesque thing, typical of the far-flung islands of Japan and maybe of some distorted oriental mentality ... well ... they're wrong. American officials blamed the Iranian government for a series of coordinated hacking attacks that targeted U.S. banks. The hackers purposefully targeted bank databases and flooded their systems causing major disruptions and even complete shutdowns of company networks. No money was stolen and no individual accounts were breached as the hacks were merely meant to disrupt business for the banks, which officials say is a trademark of a government-lead attack. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2259851/Iran-blamed-massive-cyber-attack-U-S-banks-data-centers-puppet-hacking-group-says-... more »

Killer Whales Trapped In Canadian Sea Ice

Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 12 hours ago
About a dozen killer whales have become trapped in a vast stretch of sea ice in Hudson Bay, Canada. The animals, stuck in the waters near the remote Inuit community of Inukjuak in Quebec, are taking it in turns to gasp for breath through a hole in the ice, which was about the size of a van but is reportedly shrinking due to freezing temperatures. The whales are said to be panicking at times in their desperate bid to get oxygen. http://news.sky.com/story/1035933/killer-whales-trapped-in-canadian-sea-ice

Ask The Leveretts Anything: The Treatment Of Women In Iran

Saman Mohammadi at The Excavator - 12 hours ago
Source: *The Dish*. Also, *read this*, and *this*. My opinion on the status of women and gay people in Iran: No society is perfect. The dress code for women in Iran is repressive, but it is superficial to only look at this aspect of life and paint a government as being against the liberation of women. Education is more important. But the ideology of the Islamic state is completely out of date with the times regarding gay rights. It is ridiculous for the Iranian president to say that there are *no gay people in Iran*.
