the area, Inukjuak Mayor Peter Inukpuk said this morning as experts were
said to be en route to the scene to help free them.
On Wednesday, residents of an Inuit village called for the government's
help to save a dozen killer whales trapped in the ice about 30 kilometres
off the coast of Inukjuak, Que.
The orcas were spotted at a breathing hole at the eastern top of Hudson Bay.
When two hunters went to check the ice Thursday morning, they discovered
the whales were gone, according to Inukpuk.

U.S. laws have a bizarre loophole. One may circumvent the debt ceiling by
printing a trillion-dollar coin out of platinum and donating it to the
treasury.
I think that the laws are really silly if it matters whether the money is
printed in the form of many $100 banknotes or a somewhat smaller number of

a grave in Lanarkshire.
Forensic scientists investigating the disappearance of Moira Anderson began
exhuming a burial site in Old Monkland cemetery in Lanarkshire this week,

This will be neat to see. It is one of the great migrations in the world
and perhaps one of the most unlikeliest. I grew up with them and even
collected pupae to watch them emerge.
A real surprise is that a tagged butterfly from Wisconsin made it all the
way down to Mexico in one generation. These are amazingly, generational
migrations.
Fears about this butterflies future are likely misplaced now that the
winter refugia is well known and the insects have zero economic value.

Quite rightly, research in Brain science is booming as has all biological
science. We are getting answers and lots of them.
What is missing yet though is a clear understanding of memory itself. My
own conjecture is that we establish a linkage directly to the time and
place in which an experience took place partly because I suspect that this
will turn out to be possible and really possible at the molecular level and
nature is wonderful at grabbing every opportunity.

Do keep in mind that it was not the warmest globally but still a warm year
even there. What appears clear though is that odd spring and odd fall
jumped the averages and gave us this exceptional record. That all looks
like the right confluence of major weather events paying off in the same
year with a low likelihood of repetition.
As posted in the past, the average climate in the past two decades has held
at about a half degree over the Holocene mean. Since the actual Holocene

power plant about 90 miles southwest of Houston, shut down one of the
plant’s two reactors Tuesday afternoon.
The fire broke out at 4:42 p.m. at the main transformer that feeds power
from the reactor to the public power grid, and the reactor was shut down
immediately, plant spokesman Buddy Eller said.
The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes, Eller said. He did not know
when the reactor might be restarted.

Two mosques, a government office and a gas station were among other

MoD Overspends Equipment Budget By £6.5bn

some of its major orders are likely to be delivered 39 years late.
The National Audit Office (NAO), in its latest report into the MoD's

deliver between them, now have a combined price tag of £61.1bn and will not
be ready for a total of 195 years.

Canada's push to exploit oil-rich sandy rock formations is certainly
controversial, but does it pose a health threat? A first analysis has found
an increase in carcinogens in sediment from lakes near to the Athabasca oil
sands in Alberta but it is not yet clear if the pollution could make people

It's cleverly crafted and passionate. A lively, entertaining, intelligent
film experience.
Don't read spoiler reviews of it, particularly any that would have stupid
headlines like this one: "Toronto Film Critics Name Sarah Polley's Adultery
Doc Best Canadian Movie".
Go see it totally unprepared. You may have to see it again. There are many
people involved and many overlapping stories.
