Background TV Takes a Toll on Children
children younger than age 8 spend an average of nearly four hours each day near the canned patter of an unattended TV. Children 8 months to 2 years get TV in the background for nearly six hours each day.
.....
recent studies show children have a hard time tuning out the particular kinds of noises a TV makes.
Experiments show that children who play in rooms where a TV is broadcasting an adult show spend less time with individual toys and shift their attention more quickly from one activity to another, compared to how they play when the TV is off.
With the eurozone and Europe in a comatose state and fighting high debt loads and muted growth, demand for Chinese goods will decline and China will suffer. While China is no Japan (a country in a 20-year economic comatose state), the country will face difficulties going forward due to the global slowing and soft domestic spending.

Spain ready for bailout, Germany signals "wait"

Important Health News: Cancer - The Forbidden Cures (Video)
A very important topic that I cover in this blog is of course Cancer, and real cures for this "disease". I have long been a supporter of the notion that Cancer patients are better off seeking alternative methods of curing this "disease" rather than subjecting themselves to the so called "treatments" advocated by most physicians that in most cases rather than cure Cancer, actually kills the patient! For this article, I want to present the following very important video, entitled: "Cancer - The Forbidden Cures" for everyone to see for themselves. I have my own thoughts and comments... more »

Potato
The wild potato is a masterpiece of evolution. Botanists have discovered 169 species of them, widely dispersed across the Americas, but primarily located in the Andes. Wild spuds have been able to adapt to every type of ecosystem except for lowland tropical rainforest. Beneath the ground, small tubers grow on the roots, in a wide variety of colors and shapes. The toxic tubers store energy and moisture as insurance against unfavorable conditions. As... more »

I hope you're getting this down.” - Bertrand Russell
The Islamic view of non-Koranic knowledge
As a certain Caliph said of the Library of Alexandria, if the books contradict the Koran then they are blasphemous and should be destroyed. If they agree with it, then they are redundant and should be destroyed. The religion of tolerance?
Psychology: “Men's Thinking Ability Clouded by Interacting With a Woman”
*“Men's Thinking Ability Clouded by Interacting With a Woman”* by Makini Brice, Medical Daily "It's a pretty common trope in sitcoms: man thinks something, man meets woman, man is unable to continue thinking. But, like all good comedy, the cliché has its roots in human nature. It, in fact, has roots in science as well. Researchers found that, for men, even the thought of interacting with a woman was enough to cause cognitive impairment. In 2009, a study published in the "Journal of Experimental Social Psychology" found that, after interacting with an attractive woman for a short... more »
Empty of Fact: Rachel Brown's Bellwether Propaganda
I asked Doug Martin, my colleague at The Common Errant and a dogged investigator of politico-corporate-educational malfeasance, to help us interpret the misleading graphic presentation offered by Rachel Brown for *The Atlantic*'s Reform Pamphlet. Ms Brown seems to be responsible for page 87; I don't think it's appropriate to say she wrote it as it is primarily a presentation of "content" I would compare to what Netflix offers as a selection screen for the under-7 "latch-pc" crowd (this is exemplary of what is actually being learned by children). That is I would compare both the co... more »
Crick’s picks: Keith Vaz and the doorstep challenge | Michael Crick on Politics
http://blogs.channel4.com/michael-crick-on-politics/cricks-picks-keith-vaz-and-the-doorstep-challenge/1735 So is Neil 'curry house brawl' Kinnock also an apologist for Hobsbawm who supported Stalin and excused the murder of 20million plus? Am I alone in being disgusted by the British left?
Dr. Alex Rosen: "Claims by scientists affiliated with the nuclear industry that no health effects are to be expected are unscientific and immoral."

Why This Crisis Still Has a Long Way to Run
[image: _Kris_Sayce]*Guest post by Kris Sayce of **Money Morning Australia* When is a cut not a cut? When it’s an increase. Sorry to be cryptic, but we laugh when we see presidents, prime ministers and finance ministers talk about ‘austerity’ and ‘slashing budgets’. Because just like central bank money printing, the markets get excited for about three minutes before they realise what even an idiot can see… Cut spending isn’t what governments do. For governments, spending only ever goes one way. That’s up. Last week the papers were going batty on the news that, *‘Spain unveils a... more »
DCCC vs U.S. Chamber Of Commerce In California Congressional Races
Way back in Washington, DC Steve Israel and his crew at the DCCC identified which candidates they wanted to support in California congressional races based on their various filters. They're spending money on 3 vulnerable incumbents-- Jerry McNerney, John Garamendi and Lois Capps (New Dem)-- and 10 challengers, 7 in Red to Blue districts-- Ami Bera (New Dem), Jose Hernandez, Julia Brownley, Raul Ruiz, Mark Takano (Progressive), Alan Lowenthal, Scott Peters (New Dem)-- and 3 in what they call "majority maker" seats (districts that are open and dependably blue: Jared Huffman, Tony Ca... more »

Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Will Ginger Be On the Menu?
Sayer Ji, *Contributor* New research published in the *Journal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology* found that "ginger may be a promising candidate for the treatment of breast carcinomas."[i] This is a timely finding, insofar as breast cancer awareness month is only days away, and one of the primary fund-raising justifications is the false concept that a low-cost, safe and effective breast cancer treatment is not yet available. Could ginger provide the type of cure that conventional, FDA-approved treatments have yet to accomplish? The new study was performed by researchers at the B... more »
Reuters Fails the "Find-Replace" Game for Recycling Iraq Propaganda about Iran
When recycling decade-old allegations, lies, and threats that preceded invasion and occupation, sometimes sloppy mistakes happen. In a short report posted this afternoon, Reuters quotes U.S. State department spokesperson Victoria Nuland praising the detrimental and destructive effects of its sanctions regime against Iran and claiming once again that Iran is building a nuclear weapons, despite
Obama waives sanctions on countries that use child soldiers...
*U.S. President Barack Obama issued a new executive order last week to fight human trafficking, touting his administration's handling of the issue. * "When a little boy is kidnapped, turned into a child soldier, forced to kill or be killed -- that's slavery," Obama said in a speech at the Clinton Global Initiative. "It is barbaric, and it is evil, and it has no place in a civilized world. Now, as a nation, we've long rejected such cruelty." But for the third year in a row, Obama has waived almost all U.S. sanctions that would punish certain countries that use child soldiers, upsettin... more »

Chemist told Mass. police she 'messed up bad'
MyFoxBoston Chemists who worked with the woman at the center of a Massachusetts state drug lab scandal told investigators they had concerns about her work for several years, but they either convinced themselves they were invalid or reported them to supervisors who failed to intervene. Defense attorneys say they're troubled by the latest revelations in the case, contained in a lengthy state police report compiled for the attorney general's office, which is investigating, and obtained by The Associated Press on Wednesday. Annie Dookhan admitted to investigators that she faked dru... more »
Odd the heroes some people have
I challenged Richard Burden... I was not deemed worthy of a reply but then I have been challenging Richard Burden about his 'pro-Palestinian' views. He hasn't replied to this either. It is interesting that Richard Burden thinks that Eric Hobsbawm is worthy of praise, this being a man who: ' .. in 1994, in an interview with Canadian author and politician Michael Ignatieff on British television, Hobsbawm responded in the affirmative to the question of whether 20 million deaths may have been justified had the proposed communist utopia been created. The following year, when asked the sa... more »
