Another "home" state rejects Romney
This strikes me as a pretty BFD. Salt Lake City Tribute issues stinging
condemnation of Romney and endorses Obama:
Sadly, it is not the only Romney, as his campaign for the White House has
made abundantly clear, first in his servile courtship of the tea party in
order to win the nomination, and now as the party’s shape-shifting nominee.
From his embrace of the party’s radical right wing, to subsequent
portrayals of himself as a moderate champion of the middle class, Romney
has raised the most frequently asked question of the campaign: "Who is this
guy, really, and what in the world... more »

Darrell Issa is worse than a terrorist
No seriously. This Darrell Issa belongs in Gitmo. This just in from Imani.
In his never ending quest to prove he's the world's biggest asshole, Darrell
Issa signed a death warrant for Libyan activists working with the US:
But this afternoon, Darrell Issa—in a stroke of sheer idiocy—published
reams of State Department documents, and this woman’s name appears in the
documents—unredacted.
And now her life is in danger. The lives of several other Libyans named in
the documents are in danger. And House Republicans, specifically Darrell
Issa and Jason Chaffetz, are to blame.

defeat and the weakness of grief, to be victor over anger, to smile when
tears are close, to resist evil men and base instincts, to hate hate and to
love love, to go on when it would seem good to die, to seek ever after the

Obama: 'Not Optimal' Americans Getting Killed In Libya
What a poor choice of words. Lazy. Stupid. Obama is half-assing everything:
his debates, speeches, everything except his *comedy routines* at
dinners/roasts. He'd make a better comedian than a president. He is not a
serious president. Never been, never will.
The problem is that it is hard to take Obama seriously. The whole world
knows by now that he is just a puppet. The office of the Presidency has no
credibility so it doesn't matter who fills it. Until the office regains its
pre-Kennedy assassination credibility and legitimacy, nothing will be fixed
in America.

11 Reasons To Get Your Kids Out Of The Government Schools
Michael Snyder, *Contributing Writer*
It should be painfully obvious to everyone by now that it is time to get
all of our kids out of the government schools.
The public school system in the United States has been dramatically
declining for a long time, and in most areas of the country the public
schools are open sewers at this point.
Yes, there are some U.S. public schools that are still very good and that
do a decent job of preparing our young people for their adult lives. But

*Susan Rice can go hang in the yard:* The thing we’ve found most offensive
in this is the way they’re willing to waste Susan Rice.
The way they’re willing to take her out with their insultingly stupid

We don’t know Rice, but she has always seemed smart and decent to us. Now
she’s being taken out, as was done to so many others back in the
Clinton-Gore years.
And how strange! Rachel, upset by the war on women, is hiding beneath her
big desk! They keep pounding away at Rice—and Rachel keeps very silent.

Peace? It's a Dangerously Flexible Concept
The Canadian debate over the F-35 has always overlooked perhaps the most
critical issue. We never want to discuss what signing on for the F-35
means for Canada's defence policy and posture. Yet that airplane, as none
other could, will steer our defence policy and posture for decades to come.
The F-35 is the love child of America's 21st century hyper-militarism.
It's not a fighter, that's just bullshit. The F-35 is a light attack
bomber, a "penetration" warplane intended to wrap itself in stealth
protection to enter heavily defended airspace, bomb some target, and get

Lebanese government to sue producers of TV drama Homeland because 'it portrays Beirut as full of terrorists' (on the day car bomb in city kills eight)

Rape?
I've long had a problem with the argument that "rape is not about sex; it's
about power." If that were the case, there'd be a lot more bar fights
between men, ending with the loser getting forcibly sodomized, than there
are. I mean, if it's not about sex, but about power, who has more power in
the world? Men have more power. Therefore, if I guy wants to establish his
status and power in the world, it would make more sense to rape another man.
If it wasn't about sex, then why are there so many guys who convince
themselves that they're not raping anybody? "No doesn't always mean no." "... more »

WHO LOST AMERICA: “Challenge to democracy!”
*FRIDAY, OCTOBER 19, 2012*
*Epilogue—A challenge seemingly lost:* “But here is the challenge to our
democracy,” President Roosevelt said.
He said it in his second inaugural address, in January 1937. The challenge
he saw was quite large:
ROOSEVELT (1/20/37): *But here is the challenge to our democracy.*
In this nation, I see tens of millions of its citizens—a substantial part
of its whole population—who at this very moment are denied the greater part
of what the very lowest standards of today call the necessities of life.
I see millions of families trying to live on incomes so meage... more »
Will Rural Chickens Come Home To Roost For The GOP Nov. 6?
Bye-bye Iowa?
As you know, the DCCC gave Boehner a free pass to reelection-- they made
sure he would have no opponent this year-- and he's spending campaign
season getting drunk with lobbyists raising money for vulnerable
Republicans and campaigning in their districts (since he has no need to be
back in his own). This week he was in Iowa begging voters to return one of

tight incumbent vs incumbent match-up with Blue Dog Leonard Boswell (also a
shithead). Latham is a straight down the line Establishment Republica... more »

Hmmm...first of all, I haven't looked him up for a while, and I'm sort of
shocked that he three years with the Giants (plus one with the Angels). One
of the illusions of youth; he lasted forever, to me. Probably because
baseball began in 1969-1970 for me (1970 was his rookie year) as something
I really followed, so at that point who knows which guys had been around
for a while and which were brand new. Well, I mean, you learn soon enough
about Wi... more »
Obamneycare Converts Health Care Into Profits
Paul Craig Roberts
In the guest section there is a new contribution by Dr. Robert S. Dotson.
He points out that Obamneycare is two versions of the same thing. A person
has to be gullible and uninformed to believe the claims of Obama and Romney
that their replacements for Medicare will save money and improve care. What
the schemes do is convert public monies into private profits.
The exploding costs described by Dr. Dotson and the rising profits for
private corporations are paid for by reducing health care. For example,
Betsy McCaughey, former lieutenant governor of New York, wri... more »
