diplomatic breakthrough in the *decade-long effort by the world’s major

"A newly discovered type of brain cell may help us prep for social

Mirror neurons fire both when you do something, like grab a bottle of wine,

out a step-by-step reasoning process to figure out why a friend is grabbing

Trial delay
R. v. Papandrea [2012] O.J. No. 4880 has disturbing language about delay:
*43** * Trial dates are now being set in this jurisdiction at the outer
limit of tolerable delay. Trials are being added on to impossibly
overbooked lists in the hope that some trials on those lists will collapse
and the trial list will thereby become manageable. Some days this works and
other days it does not. We are seeing more days now that it doesn't work
than when it does.
*44** * As such, I expect that we can anticipate an increase in 11(b)
applications being advanced in this jurisdiction. As more... more »
The Academic Job Market and The Draft
No, not conscription (see what I did there), but sports drafts where teams
take turns picking the next generation of superstars/busts. I am inspired
to think about this as October is when anxiety of academic job aspirants
begins to spiral. The thread du jour is whether the job market is “fair.”

Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek
As early as 1964, Gene Roddenberry drafted a proposal for the science
fiction series that would become Star Trek. Although he publicly marketed
it as a Western in outer space—a so-called "Wagon Train to the Stars" (like
the popular Western TV series)—he privately told friends that he was
modeling it on Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, intending each episode
to act on two levels: as a suspenseful adventure story and as a morality
tale.
Most Star Trek stories depict the adventures of humans and aliens who serve

an innocent man fell victim to cholera; he was dead within hours from an
illness never before known in Haiti’s history. Over 7,500 deaths later,

US-Supported Free Syrian Army Are Salafi Jihadists From Saudi Arabia

How Mitt Romney cheated his way to the GOP nomination
Doug Wead
New evidence is coming out about just how tough and dirty the Mitt Romney
campaign fought to block the Ron Paul takeover of the Republican Party at
the State Conventions last summer.
It may offer a little sneak preview of what a Romney presidency will be
like. And make no mistake, barring war with Syria or some other dramatic
October surprise, Romney will now win this election in a landslide. At
least, that is my humble opinion, as one who loves and reads history. The
economy will decide that.
It turns out that Mitt Romney and other Republican operatives were

The subject of insiders -- or "whistleblowers" -- is somewhat tricky;
anyone on the inside is often presumed to be compromised by their former

whistleblowers have something valid to say is the level of persecution they

Past slavery was largely based on force (thus was much more obvious), but modern-day
slavery is actually more widespread because global slave masters use all of
the scientific tools at their disposal to win hearts and control minds,
convincing us that our hands and feet are free, so we must be living
self-directed lives.
