Marcus Aurelius - The Philosopher King

Marcus Aurelius (April 26, 121 CE. – March 17, 180 CE.), was Roman Emperor
from 161 to 180 CE. He ruled with Lucius Verus as co-emperor from 161 until
Verus' death in 169. He was the last of the "Five Good Emperors", and is
also considered one of the most important members of the Stoic
philosophers. During his reign, the Empire defeated a revitalized Parthian
Empire; Aurelius' general Avidius Cassius sacked the capital Ctesiphon in
164. Aurelius fought the Marcomanni, Quadi, and Sarmatians with success

I feel sleepy today. So I'll just link to two books that I'm reading.
Brian Greene's *The Elegant Universe*. It was on sale at a reduced price.
It's from 2003, before the Large Hadron Collider, so there you go. Some of
the ideas about String Theory were good. It's a very good intro to
theoretical physics for cretins such as myself. But towards the middle, it
began to be a defense of string theory against some rather esoteric
challenges that were met with equally esoteric counter-arguments. There was
a part where advanced string theory ideas were used to solve very

Trial delay
R. v. Papandrea [2012] O.J. No. 4880 has disturbing language about delay:
*43** * Trial dates are now being set in this jurisdiction at the outer
limit of tolerable delay. Trials are being added on to impossibly
overbooked lists in the hope that some trials on those lists will collapse
and the trial list will thereby become manageable. Some days this works and
other days it does not. We are seeing more days now that it doesn't work
than when it does.

mysterious trails forming artificial clouds over our heads is long overdue.

I just learned from Technet, a Czech sci-tech server, about the Livescribe
Smartpen – something I've never seen before even though it has already

It's kind of cool. I feel that many students may want to buy such a gadget,

it has more memory.
It is an intelligent pen that allows you to draw a calculator or a piano

Northwestel curtails expansion plans after CRTC decision Company was to get $40 million for improvements under proposed BCE deal
Northwestel is scaling back plans to expand its services in the North after
the CRTC denied an application by its parent company Bell Canada
Enterprises to buy Astral Media's radio and television services.
Under the plan, all communities in the three territories would have had
access to new services, including high-speed internet access and 3G or 4G

$233 million on expansion and upgrades by 2017.
Bucyrus, North Dakota town destroyed overnight in devastating wildfire whipped up by 70mph winds
By Thursday morning, the 27 residents of Bucyrus had been forced to abandon
their homes and take refuge in surrounding communities. Miraculously, no

described the town as 'pretty much completely lost'. The county commission
chairman said the fire destroyed four homes and two abandoned farms in the
town about 60 miles south of Dickinson.

Young Blood Factors Restore Cognition
The very good news is that a key blood factor declines as a result of
aging that if supplemented, should improve brain function among the aged.
It sounds like it may be readily identified and brought into therapy.
Many other avenues are now been explored but this one promises to be quick
of the mark the moment we identify the key molecule(s). We can be
optimistic and it is also likely something we already know a lot about.
Blood chemistry declines with age and we know that. Just restoring what we
know may just be good enough. It may even be bone simple.

Apologies if you've already encountered the Owl Jolson Story. It's still the best story I can offer tonight
*It turns out that the little owl dubbed Owl Jolson isn't a youngster but a
saw-whet, a species of owl "that only grows to a height of 7 or 8 inches
and to a weight of about 3 ounces."*
*by Ken*
It turns out that I don't even have to explain why I'm offering this story,
even though I'm coming late to it, of an owl-in-a-shoebox turned in at the
NYC Parks Department's HQ in the Arsenal in Central Park. For once it's not
only safe but gratifying to venture into the comments sections, and here's
a comment that explains as well as I could why I'd rather spotlight this
story tonight tha... more »

A Jan. 3 Congressional Research Service report noted that last

Lights, Camera...Propaganda!RT: Hollywood beats the war drum
Last
week, I was interviewed by Russia Today reporter Ramon Galindo for a
short piece on how Hollywood depicts foreigners and serves the interests
of U.S. foreign policy by demonizing whatever Washington's enemy du
jour happens to be at any given time.
The piece is short (3 minutes), but very well done, and I was lucky
enough not to be left completely on the cutting room floor. (Sadly,

Here we are on the verge of a great episode in your journey through
duality, that will end with those who are ready to ascend leaving your
present dimension. It does not mean that everything will change at once,
but it will result in you being elevated to a higher dimension where you
are with other souls of a similar vibration. It will ensure a life in which
you experience a close harmony and joyful relationship with all souls. The
harshness and confrontation you experience now will disappear for good, as
those beings who ca... more »
Joseph Farah - Neo-Con, Cognitive Infiltrator
Faux alternative media figure peddles Neo-Con agenda, sits on advisory
groups with PNAC signatories.
*by Tony Cartalucci*
*October 20, 2012* - Joseph Farah and his World Net Daily (WND) project
attempts to fill a niche, straddling the alternative media, and feeding
inquiring minds back into servitude toward the greater corporate-financier
agenda. He represents a retrenchment of the right - of the false left-right
political paradigm - alongside other disingenuous media personalities like
Glenn Beck, and on the left led by the forces of convicted criminal George
Soros. Farah's propag... more »
Now Mexico Bans Cash
The Daily Bell
*Large Cash Transactions Banned In Mexico ... Outgoing Mexican President Felipe
Calderon has signed into law a ban on large cash transactions. The ban will
take effect in about 90 days and it is part of a broader effort to control
monetary flows within the country. Under the law, a Specialized Unit in
Financial Analysis operating within the Attorney General's Office will be
created to investigate financial operations "that are related to resources
of unknown origin." For real estate transactions, cash payments of more
than a half million pesos ($38,750) will be forbi... more »

*"A Message from the Hopi Elders"*
"You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour.
Now you must go back and tell the people that this is The Hour.
Here are the things that must be considered:
Where are you living?
What are you doing?
What are your relationships?
Are you in right relation?
Where is your water?
Know our garden.
It is time to speak your Truth.
Create your community.
Be good to each other.
And do not look outside yourself for the leader.
This could be a good time!

It is so great and swift, that there are those who... more »
"Arguments: Stepping Back from Anger"
*"Arguments: Stepping Back from Anger"*
by Madisyn Taylor, The DailyOM
"The emotional trigger than begins an argument may have little to do with
your present situation, but has dug up a wound. When we find ourselves in
an argument, we may feel like we are losing control of emotions that have
taken on lives of their own. When we can become aware that this is
happening, taking a deep breath can help us step back from the situation.
Once we can separate ourselves from the heat of the moment, we may find
that the emotional trigger that began the argument has little to do with

"Viruses and Scams"
*"Viruses and Scams"*
by John Toth
"A while back, I clicked on the wrong place of a pop-up that warned me that
I had lots of viruses on my laptop. I meant to click on the exit button,
but accidentally clicked on scan. That was a big mistake. It was a virus,
and it took over the laptop. The virus prompted me to pay $80 to remove it.
But, someone I know had done that before – and nothing happened – except
that she lost $80. I used another computer to go online and started
searching for solutions, and in a couple of hours I had my computer back. I
found a program that killed it out... more »

* "Welcome to Ted Nugent's Gun Country!"*
Discovery Channel and TV's Descent Into Total Idiocy
By Alexander Zaitchik
"Discovery is chasing the lowest common ratings denominator by pandering
to survivalist gun nuts. If one scene defines last week's premiere of "Ted
Nugent's Gun Country", set in the survivalist-thick scrublands surrounding
Waco, Texas, it is the show's unnervingly giddy and pony-tailed host
standing behind a .50-caliber Browning armor-piercing machine gun and
blowing a bunch of holes in the four-inch reinforced steel door used by a
team of local "preppers" t... more »
