Remember The Real Life Nazi Nixon Hired To Hunt Out Jews In His Administration? Fred's Back
Disgraced Republican Jew hunter-- back in the game
Republicans are such great friends of Israel-- or at least they tell you
they are. I guess that's why they're always hiring Nazi thugs like Fred

into American nostrils when he was one of the top Nixon henchmen at CREEP

Walt Whitman, "Animals"
*"Animals"*
"I think I could turn and live with animals, they
are so placid and self contain’d;
I stand and look at them long and long,
They do not sweat and whine about their condition;
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins;
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God;
Not one is dissatisfied — not one is demented with
the mania of owning things;
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that
lived thousands of years ago;
Not one is respectable or industrious over the whole earth."

"Millions of U.S. residents along the Eastern seaboard are expected to
experience a "grid down" survival scenario beginning as early as Monday
night. The "Frankenstorm" Hurricane Sandy is a convergence of multiple
weather events rarely seen in human history. Most people living in the
region have never seen a storm like this in their lifetime.

• A Northbound hurricane
• A winter storm front

“Sprawl” versus “intensification”
The debate over affordable housing is already being framed as a debate
between “sprawl” and “intensification”—a debate between those who wish to
release (just a little) the planners’ ring-fences around NZ’s major cities
to allow new homes on “greenfield” sections, versus those who insist we
build with more intensity within the ring fence on so called “brownfield”
sites.
The latter group characterise the former as being in favour of “sprawl”;
the former characterise the latter as promoting the construction of the
slums of tomorrow.
Both are right, and both are wrong.

Video Upload Shows How Ignorant U.S. Right Wing Has Become
This was presented as "Hilarious Leftist Propaganda from the Mid-50s." I
saw nothing hilarious here, and it seems fairly accurate historically. If
you compare the anti-Semitic rhetoric of "radio priest" Father Coughlin and
the Rev. Gerald L.K. Smith with that of the Nazis in 1930s Germany, they
resemble quite remarkably.
I seriously doubt that many right-wingers of today know who those people

I suppose that the person who uploaded this considers it "leftist

Frankenstorm shutdown -- what a difference a year (well, 14 months) makes
*-- from NY1.com*
*by Ken*
What a strange afternnoon it was here in NYC, as we NY-ers went our more or
less normal Sunday-afternoon way -- on an admittedly heavily overcast day,
with increasingly sharp wind gusts -- counting down to the announced 7pm
shutdown of the city's subways, with the buses to follow at 9pm, and in
their wake other chunks of metropolitan infrastructure, structure, and
superstructure announcing *their* shutdown plans. Without mass transit, the
city doesn't function. (Mayor Mike has also ordered "mandatory" evacuation

What Do You Mean WE Kemosabe?

Governments to debate 50 billion euro cut to EU budget
European Union governments will debate a cut of at least 50 billion euros
this week as the starting point for negotiations on the bloc's proposed 1

The cut will be proposed in the latest EU negotiating text on the bloc's

The Power of Films And Political Oversight of Hollywood
Watch: *Hollywood Warfare: How the Pentagon Censors the Movies*.
Read: *The Powers-That-Be Really Frightened*.
The upcoming film "Zero Dark Thirty" perfectly sums up the
Pentagon/CIA-Hollywood relationship. The brilliant writers at the CIA and
Pentagon come up with an outline of a fake script, in this case it is the
official story of the assassination of Bin Laden, and then they pitch it to
an impressionable and ambitious Hollywood director to turn it into an
entertaining movie and indoctrinate the American people.

'Frankenstorm' prompts Red Cross warnings in Ontario
Forecasts of a hybrid storm blending remnants of a post-tropical storm
Sandy with already severe weather over Ontario are prompting warnings from
relief workers to brace for an emergency by stocking up with at least three
days’ worth of supplies.
The Canadian Red Cross issued a release Sunday urging Ontario families to
ensure they have enough food and water to sustain themselves for at least
72 hours as the weather system, which is lashing the U.S. east coast and
North Carolina, continues to lumber towards Ontario with wind speeds of up
to 130 km/hr.

Hurricane Sandy Threatening Up To 50 Million People
Shelters opened and tens of thousands of residents were ordered to evacuate

“The time for preparing and talking is about over,” Federal Emergency

Greek Madness
Austerity-bludgeoned Greece has a society teetering on collapse. It is a
country headed by a government gone mad.
Even as, "*doctors in Athens hospitals are handling only emergencies, bus
drivers are on strike, schools are still short of textbooks and thousands

leaders talk openly about inking more than ten billion Euros in contracts
for warplanes, ships, and other weaponry if the next 80-billion Euros in

Channeling the Spirit of Posterity, Long Dead
For the five or six years this blog has existed I have strongly lamented
the demise of posterity in our societies, our economies and our
politics. In an era in which any perceived fetter on maximized production
and maximized consumption was denounced as heretical, posterity was
irrelevant, valueless or worse.
Rejecting posterity has come at an enormous price, not to us but to
generations that will follow. We have taken advantage of everything we
could exploit and kicked the consequences down the road wherever
possible. Apparently the Europeans have been little different.

Analysis: Fiscal cliff could hit economy harder than many expect
The United States runs the risk of a recession far deeper than many
investors and policymakers may think if lawmakers fail to avert looming tax
hikes and cuts to public spending.
Absent action by Congress, the country will face the so-called fiscal cliff
at the start of next year, a combination of lower spending and higher taxes
that is expected to extract about $600 billion from the economy.

U.S. Drone hits suspected al Qaeda target in north Yemen
At least four men suspected of being al Qaeda members were killed in what a
local official said was a U.S. drone strike on Islamist militants in
northern Yemen on Sunday.
It was a rare attack on al Qaeda-linked targets in northern Yemen, an area
dominated by Shi'ite Muslim Houthi rebels battling Yemeni government forces
for control of the rugged mountainous region.

The Supreme Court of Canada Drives A Dagger Through The Heart of Canadian Democracy

The betrayal of Canada by four judges of the Supreme Court of Canada

Canada’s highest court. The decision of the four judges to deny the

what i'm reading: shoulds vs. wants
An ongoing theme in my life has been ridding myself of as many *shoulds* as
I possibly can - or, to put it more positively, to spend my time doing what
I want, rather than what some voice inside my head or some external
pressure tells me I ought to.
We all have obligations. Work, family, exercise - there are always things
we don't really want to do, but must do anyway. Then there are the
obligations we give ourselves, the *shoulds* we add to our own too-full
plates. Those are the ones I've been shedding.

UK claims possible court hearing into CIA drone strikes in Pakistan would risk denting US ties
Washington Post
Ties between Britain, the U.S. and Pakistan could be jeopardized if a judge
grants a request for a court inquiry into the possible role of U.K. spy
agencies in aiding covert CIA drone strikes in Pakistan’s northwest tribal
region, a government lawyer told Britain’s High Court on Thursday.
James Eadie, lawyer for Britain’s Foreign Office, insisted that
intelligence sharing between Britain and the U.S. — already under strain by
previous disclosures made in London courtrooms — and links between
Washington and Pakistan would all potentially be cast into doubt.
