The EROEI problem is actually part of a broad economic crisis that I have researched for a long time with some highly acclaimed colleagues. These include Dr. Chris Martenson, a pathologist, and internationally recognized expert on the dangers of exponential growth, and Keith Fitz-Gerald, the President of the Fitz-Gerald Group and an expert in non-linear trends in the financial markets.
What we discovered was so alarming, we presented it to the United Nations, 16 world governments and UK parliament. We also hired an Emmy winning director to present the findings in a investigative documentary. Since releasing it in mid-July, it has gone viral. You can see it here.
Tanker washed up, homes razed to the ground and flooded streets littered with cars: Obama declares a 'major disaster' after Sandy turns New York into apocalyptic scene and death toll jumps to 33

President Obama declared a 'major disaster' in New York and Long Island as
swathes of the city woke up under water after a night of being battered by
Superstorm Sandy. Hundreds of thousands of people are without power in the
city and the transit system, schools, the stock exchange and Broadway are
all out of action after a 13ft wall of water caused by the storm surge and
high tides brought severe flooding to subways and road tunnels. Ten people
died in New York, including two children who were killed instantly by a

Netanyahu says strike on Iran would be good for Arabs

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sought on Tuesday to convince
Arab states that an Israeli military strike on Iran would benefit them,
removing a potential threat and easing tensions across the Middle East.
Netanyahu has made a number of veiled threats to attack Iran's nuclear

a limit for Tehran on its further development.

1. Sy and his family own SM malls and supermarkets, Banco de Oro, Save More

Spain recession drags on with no aid in view
Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 4 hours ago
Spain fell deeper into recession in the third quarter and prices rose
sharply in October, piling pressure on the government to revive a paralyzed
economy as it stalls over requesting aid.
Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy is in no hurry to apply for a politically
humiliating financial rescue that would kickstart an ECB bond-buying
programme and ease financing costs. But the worsening economy, along with
spreading civil unrest, may force his hand.

An adjournment sought merely for delay is properly refused
James C Morton at Morton's Musings - 6 hours ago
*R. v. Phung*, 2012 ONCA 720 is a good source for the principle that an
adjournment sought merely for delay is properly refused:
[32] In our view, the trial judge did not err in the exercise of his
discretion to deny the adjournment.
[33] The exercise of his discretion to deny the adjournment
application was rooted in his finding that the appellant, in discharging
counsel and seeking an adjournment to retain new counsel, was attempting to
manipulate the process and delay the proceeding. In our view, that
considered and pivotal finding is unassailable.

New Jersey Nuclear plant on alert as Superstorm Sandy threatens cooling system of spent uranium fuel rods
Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 6 hours ago
If cooling ceased, the pool would take 25 hours to reach boiling point.
The spokesman said the company could use water from a fire hose to cool
the
pool if necessary. The used uranium rods in the pool could cause the
water
to boil without additional coolant: in an extreme scenario the rods
could
overheat, risking the eventual release of radiation.

Manhattan in darkness, 14ft flooding and infrastructure grinds to a halt... and now come the rats
Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 6 hours ago
Rats scurrying to escape rising floodwaters in New York could spread
diseases as they infest new areas, according to a nature expert.
A 13ft wall of water caused by the storm surge and high tides have caused
severe flooding to subways and road tunnels in the city and torrents of
water poured into city streets.
The rising water will force rats out of their underground lairs and into
contact with humans, according to Rick Ostfeld of the Cary Institute of
Ecosystem Studies in Milbrook, New York, speaking to The Huffington Post.

Different ways to interpret Feynman diagrams

Feynman diagrams are the funny pictures that Richard Feynman drew on his

You see that a Feynman diagram is composed of several lines that meet at
vertices (at the nodes of the graph). Some of the lines are straight, some
of them are wiggly: this shape of each line distinguishes the particle
type. For example, straight lines are often reserved for fermions while
wiggly lines are reserved for photons or other gauge bosons.
Some lines (I mean line intervals) are external – one of their two
endpoints is free, unattached to anything. These are the external physical

Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 13 hours ago
The Poas Volcano early Sunday awoke residents of the province of Alajuela

Although the volcano is frequently active, this kind of strong explosion
has not been recorded since 2006. Experts said the activity was normal, but

Germany's Schaeuble tells skeptical UK "EU needs you".......Well the Financial District at least
Lynsey at The Coming Crisis - 13 hours ago
German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble urged Britain on Monday to
remain strongly engaged in the European Union, responding to a tide of
Euroskepticism that Berlin fears could sweep London towards the exit.
Schaeuble's plea, delivered during a visit to Oxford University, came days
after British Foreign Secretary William Hague mapped out a very different
vision of a much looser EU in which Britain would opt out of many policies.
Chancellor Angela Merkel said she would visit Britain, an "important
partner", for talks with Prime Minister David Cameron next week.

Dr. Raul Ruiz Snags The Big Endorsement From Mary Bono Mack

Until yesterday, Coachella Valley's biggest newspaper, the *Desert Sun*,
had never once failed to endorse Mary Bono Mack during her 7 runs for
Congress. That's streak is done! They still admire her but there's a far
more qualified candidate running this year, Dr. Raul Ruiz, and they gave
him the nod. But the content-- and seriousness-- of the editorial is even
more notable than the end of Mary Bono Mack's winning streak with the *Sun*.
They say she's grown too comfortable inside the Beltway bubble and is no
longer the appropriate representative for California's vast 36th CD,

"Why do many galaxies appear as spirals? A striking example is M101,
shown above, whose relatively close distance of about 27 million light
years allows it to be studied in some detail. Recent evidence indicates
that a close gravitational interaction with a neighboring galaxy created
waves of high mass and condensed gas which continue to orbit the galaxy
center.

These waves compress existing gas and cause star formation. One result is
that M101, also called the Pinwheel Galaxy, has several extremely bright
