Fukushima Fish May Be Inedible For a Decade

Fish from the waters around the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan could be

radioactivity levels remain elevated and show little sign of coming down, a

Furious 200-strong mob ransack Lahore's leading girls' school after a female teacher 'set blasphemous homework'
The
angry mob descended on Farooqi Girls' High School, set fire to
furniture and burnt out the head teacher’s car on Wednesday. And, on the
wall of the building, the mob graffitied: 'School management are
blasphemers.'
The Islamic hardliners became incensed after a teacher at the
prestigious
private school allegedly made a mistake while copying Islamic text from
an
exercise book and then distributed the text to her students.

Kids say the darndest things. But sometimes they say shocking things.
On Thursday, 9-year-old Brandon did the latter when he was asked why he
wanted President Barack Obama to win a second term outside a campaign rally
featuring First Lady Michelle Obama in Daytona, Fla.
“Because if Mitt Romney win, we’ll be going back to the crop fields,”

Mayor Bloomberg's Deft Climate Politics
Whatever the motivations behind Mayor Michael Bloomberg's decision to cite
Sandy and climate change as a reason for his endorsement of President Obama,
it has the effect of relocating responsibility for Sandy's devastation from
NYC City Hall to Washington, DC.
As New Yorkers (and others) affected by Sandy's wrath pick themselves back

disaster. While some will continue to link Sandy with energy policy
decisions, important questions will have to be asked about why NYC was not

Filling the pages of today’s Times!

That said, the New York Times has to keep pretending that it is reporting a

On page one, there were two election reports; neither was totally
worthless. One report covered Mayor Bloomberg’s surprise endorsement,

Impaired driving in the Supreme Court
In a 5-2 split decision, the Supreme Court has thrown out two provisions
put into the law by the Conservative government's 2008 Tackling Violent
Crime Act.
Those changes required that a defendant who raised a reasonable doubt about
the functioning or operation of a breathalyzer machine also had to prove
the reading was too high and that the driver had not consumed enough
alcohol to produce it.
The justices say those last two provisions go too far.
They say once a reasonable doubt has been raised about the machine, that
should be enough.

I flipped the channels on TV this morning and came across this TV show on
cable TV. Its an old Tales From The Dark Side episode where a visitor from
"far away" pays for an aging actor and movie director to complete the last
six episodes of a 1960s film noir detective show.
A few things struck me as unusual. The visitor pays in gold. He enjoys
vintage earth TV shows and has a hidden audience who gladly play to watch
them. When the alcoholic actor can't perform due to his addiction, he's
