Seventeen dead in Mexican prison break attempt: media
Eleven inmates and seven guards were killed in a shootout during a prison
break attempt in northern Mexico on Tuesday, local media reported, citing a
statement from the security ministry in Durango state.
The inmates shot at guard towers in a jail in the city of Gomez Palacio as
they attempted to escape through a back wall and tunnel, and guards fired
back to contain the revolt, according to a statement attributed to the
ministry, which was posted on the Animal Politico website and cited by the
El Universal and Milenio newspapers.

Israel green-lights 1,500 settler homes in east Jerusalem
srael gave the green light Monday for a plan denounced by Washington to
build 1,500 settler homes in annexed east Jerusalem, prompting the

issue.
Interior ministry spokeswoman Efrat Orbach said the ministry's planning

their request to build 1,600 new housing units at Ramat Shlomo to 1,500 and

Tau Ceti: 'Earth-Like' Planet Discovered By Scientists
Scientists have discovered a planet with conditions that could support life
- orbiting a sun that is visible to the naked eye.
The world is one of five thought to be circling Tau Ceti, a star 12 light
years away which is almost identical to the sun.
Astronomers estimate the Tau Ceti planets to be two to six times bigger
than Earth. And one of them, with five times the Earth's mass, lies in the
star's "habitable zone".

In the past when I fact checked the URLs Sorcha Faal gives, the web sites
pointed to often DO NOT support the premises Sorcha Faal makes. Its seems
they think everyone is an idiot and will not check the supporting evidence.

Education Reform, 1844
An audio recording of this excerpt from "New England Reformers" by Ralph
Waldo Emerson (1844) read by Douglas Storm.
The same insatiable criticism may be traced in the efforts for the reform
of Education. The popular education has been taxed with a want of truth and
nature. It was complained that an education to things was not given. We are
students of words: we are shut up in schools, and colleges, and
recitation-rooms, for ten or fifteen years, and come out at last with a bag
of wind, a memory of words, and do not know a thing. We cannot use our
hands, or our legs, or our eyes, ... more »

Republicans, it's all about Me, Me, Me and Greed, Greed, Greed!

Obama Shed More Tears After Winning Election Than After Shooting Tragedy
Obama cries in front of his followers after beating Mitt Romney. Tears are

Obama can barely force a tear out after the shooting tragedy in Newtown,

Some US folks who have had it with the pro-gun lobby intimidating, coercing

I first became aware of the Norman impact on Britain post-1066 when I

Normans, effectively Vikings or Norse from France, settled in as a dominant

The Saxon peasant may have raised chickens but it was his Norman lords who
enjoyed "poultry" (poulet). The Saxon peasant herded cattle but his lord

The United States Gets Owned by HSBC! U.S. Punked, read all about it!
HSBC, that's The Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation, originally

Olympics shambles firm G4S set to win £150m child benefit call centre contract after MPs' calls to blacklist it are ignored
Bungling Olympic security firm G4S is set to be offered another gold-plated
Government contract despite its failure to provide enough staff for London
2012.
The company, which MPs want blacklisted from taxpayer-funded deals because
the Army had to rescue it this summer, has now been shortlisted to help in
several call centres.
G4S has been picked by the Department for Work and Pensions above 16 other
firms and now looks likely to help advise the public on benefits.

Facebook is suspending user accounts that question the official narrative

Netanyahu Says Israel Will Continue Building in East Jerusalem

Russia eyes Syria evacuation as rebels take Damascus district
Russia sent warships to the Mediterranean to prepare a potential evacuation
of its citizens from Syria, a Russian news agency said on Tuesday, a sign
President Bashar al-Assad's key ally is worried about rebel advances now

Moscow acted a day after insurgents waging a 21-month-old uprising obtained
a possible springboard for a thrust into Damascus by seizing the Yarmouk
Palestinian camp, an urban zone just 2 miles from the heart of the city,
activists said.

The Mental Health Issue Not Being Discussed: Doping of Children and Young Adults

of the young shooters from the past 15 years of gun-crazed carnage had
received what passes now for mental health care: a prescription drug
cocktail supplied by Big Pharma.

Egypt prosecutor's resignation angers Brotherhood
Egypt's public prosecutor resigned under pressure from his opponents in the
judiciary, dealing a blow to President Mohamed Mursi and drawing an angry
response on Tuesday from the Islamist leader's supporters in the Muslim
Brotherhood.
Seeking to keep pressure on Mursi, the main opposition coalition will hold
new protests against an Islamist-backed draft constitution that has divided
Egypt but which looks set to be approved in the second round of a

The Unequal State of America: Redistributing up
In the town that launched the War on Poverty 48 years ago, the poor are
getting poorer despite the government's help. And the rich are getting
richer because of it.
The top 5 percent of households in Washington, D.C., made more than

That gap is up from 39 to 1 two decades ago. It's wider than in any of the

Honduran economy depends on migrants' transfers to families
A couple of stories in the newspapers this week suggest the best way North
Americans could help Honduras is to let a few more people head north to
find jobs.
La Prensa reported remittances - the money sent back by Hondurans working
in the U.S. - will be up 12 per cent this year.
That would bring the money sent home to about $3.2 billion, or about 18 per
cent of the country’s GDP. Put another way, without remittances the GDP per
capita would drop from about $4,400 to $3,600. (In Canada, the comparable
figure is about $40,000.)

Ford came out tops in a variety of three-way and four-way combinations that

If Ford were facing popular Newstalk 1010 host John Tory and councillors
