Income Distribution Under Conservatives and Labour

Phil at A Very Public Sociologist - 5 seconds ago
Here's a very interesting graph: This shows the distribution of income under the 1979-97 Conservative government, and the 1997-2010 Labour government. Something tells me the present bunch will be edging toward the former rather than the latter. I guess this is what the Liberal Democrats mean when they talk about 'building a fairer Britain'. Graph source is page 30 of this Joseph Rowntree/Institute for Fiscal Studies report here. (H/T @BenCooper86)

Berlusconi accuses Monti of plot with Italy's centre left

Silvio Berlusconi on Saturday condemned outgoing Prime Minister Mario Monti's plan to lead a centrist alliance in Italy's election in February, accusing him of a plot to favor the left, but centrist leaders denied any secret accord. Monti, who replaced Berlusconi as prime minister last year as Italy scrambled to avert a financial crisis, said on Friday he wanted to unite a broad coalition of factions around a reform agenda aimed at easing the country's economic woes. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/12/29/us-italy-vote-idUSBRE8BS09L20121229

Council on Foreign Relations Plan for Global Governance in 2013

Council of Councils Members Nicholas West It is incredible that mention of a one-world government in many circles is still considered to be conspiracy talk. Fortunately, the global political awakening that arch-globalist, Zbigniew Brzezinski has referred to as a significant challenge to those in power is forcing ever-increasing justifications for their use of globalist language. An ammonia leak brought major disruption for motorists near a popular South Island holiday town today. The gas alert at the Alliance lamb and sheep processing plant at Stoke cut road access on a key route for a couple of hours. Just before 10am a safety valve at the plant near Nelson failed, releasing the hazardous gas into the air. http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/ammonia-leak-emergency-meat-plant-5306597

African Transition

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 9 hours ago
Human continuity for 300,000 years appears to be much longer than presently accepted and continuous occupation may well imply cultural stasis. Thus the bottleneck may alternatively mean that a special group made the key breakthrough around 50,000 years ago. That also fits well with our projected time line for a ten thousand year transition to modernity from 50,000 BP to 40,000 BP. Our own transition has taken about the same amount of time since the Pleistocene Nonconformity. An expanding special population of modernizing humanity will simply absorb remnant groups back i... more »

Red Rain Revisit

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 9 hours ago
We are revisiting the Red Rain phenomena. First it is the only specific phenom that does conform to the Panspermia hypothesis although one may presume an earlier report inspired the original hypothesis since the color red was associated with the idea. This report informs us that integrity is retained up to 300 C. This excludes any Earth borne explanation unless it so happens that a slime mold gets up there and is cooked off. That does not work either because integrity at 300 C is difficult to achieve with carbon based molecules. This now begs the question of why here ... more »

Corruption Will Kill Regime, But Not China

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 9 hours ago
China does have the mechanisms in place to transition out of one party rule just as has happened throughout South East Asia. In my mind, it is not if it will happen but a question of when it will happen. The good news here is that it appears that the cadres will be forgiven for now and allowed to retire gracefully. This really allows a clean sweep from top to bottom and the introduction of fresh blood. This also makes it an ideal time to introduce democratic reforms. But if not, the way is quite clear for a future transition. Everyone waits out the decade and prepares ... more »

Copper Blocks Antibiotic Resistence

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 9 hours ago
This is actually important although how it can be integrated into the at risk environments is going to be a challenge. The simple fact is that copper requires incessant cleaning and polishing. Perhaps the proper solution is to use a normal alloy such as bronze and to allow the working surface to fully oxidize into its natural green blue color. Then normal cleaning is sufficient. It will still be hard to keep the clean freaks from turning it into a shining object just because they can. Like the military, it will become necessary to order folks to not shine their combat boo... more »

Transform a large coffee can into a mini trash can. Slip a small plastic bag inside and use it in the car, yard, on the patio or even in the bathroom. Large coffee cans make great storage for small toys. With the snap-tight lid in place, they make safe places to keep toy cars, used crayons and other small items until they are needed again. Got old worn-out bedsheets? Got kids? On a nice sunny day outside or even a cool, rainy one inside, dig out those sheets you've been saving. 1983 Footage of Grazing Cow Abducted by UFO in Puerto Gaboto, Argentina (Matt's UFO bender continues)

*Matt's thoughts:* Yes, yes. I know it's most likely fake, and perhaps obviously so. However, I posted this for a reason, a philosophical one. What happens when something is so far out of bounds from our paradigm of thinking that the sheer lack of comprehension we face upon reviewing such an event renders its veracity irrelevant? What if this video had been real? What if we had witnessed a cow being drawn up into the sky in a UFO, but because the idea of that happening is so "out there" that despite us witnessing the truth, we still don't believe? Amazing UFO Formation in Santiago Chile (december 2012)

Matt at The Coming Crisis - 13 hours ago
*Matt's thoughts:* -- You'll notice at one point that the lights actually move into the formation of the Great Pyramids, or Orion's Belt constellation. -- As has been reported in many other instances, the lights "transform" (for lack of a better word at present) into aircraft-like light sets that mimic our safety lighting on aircraft. However, as Alison Kruse proved after contacting the FAA and conducting in-depth studies of this phenomenon, the "copies", while resembling our planes, don't follow any known commercial or military lighting regulations. -- In typical "human" fashion... more »

Israeli troops kill Canadian soldier after shelling/bombing UN outpost, incident report "quietly removed"

Matt at The Coming Crisis - 13 hours ago
The Defence Department has quietly removed from the Internet a report into the killing of a Canadian military officer by Israeli forces, a move the soldier’s widow says is linked to the Conservative government’s reluctance to criticize Israel for any wrongdoing. Maj. The United States went through it’s normal pattern of reeling from one crisis to another as it stumbled through 2012, a year highlighted by numerous mass shootings, extreme weather events, a battle between rich and everybody else and round after round of bare-knuckle politics bought and paid for by record amounts of corporate greenbacks.
