Euro zone worries sends shares lower
*(Reuters) - European shares fell sharply and the single currency hit a
two-week low on Wednesday as popular opposition within the euro zone to
budget austerity measures unnerved investors already worried about a weak
global growth outlook.*
The market's focus was on Spain and Greece: protesters clashed with police
in Madrid on Tuesday as the government prepared to unveil its 2013 budget
on Thursday; and Greeks held a general strike as ministers sought to
renegotiate a bailout.

Scientists back theory that life was brought to Earth by space microbes

The theory is based on calculations showing a high likelihood of rock

experts writing in the journal Astrobiology.
The research suggests the dormant bugs could easily have survived the long

Censored News celebrates six years of publishing the warriors!
*Celebrating six years of publishing!*
*By Brenda Norrell, publisher*

*Censored News*
http://www.bsnorrell.blogspot.com
Censored News bolts into its seventh year of publishing in October 2012. It
has been a bumpy ride to keep it going. But always there are those who have
no other place to post their news for a global audience. The worst
offenders, like the US Border Patrol, Canadian mining corporations, the US
government, and other human rights abusers are able to either co-op, or
silence, most of the media.
The news reporters that can not be squelched are ... more »

State court ruling deals blow to U.S. bank mortgage system
Reuters
Michelle Conlin
The highest court in the state of Washington recently ruled that a company
that has foreclosed on millions of mortgages nationwide can be sued for
fraud, a decision that could cause a new round of trouble for the nation's
banks.
The ruling is one of the first to allow consumers to seek damages from
Mortgage Electronic Registration Systems, a company set up by the nation's
major banks, if they can prove they were harmed.
Legal experts said last month's decision from the Washington Supreme Court
could become a precedent for courts in other states. The case ... more »
[Video] Reverse Defections: Ex-FSA Members Defect Again to Rejoin Syrian Army
YouTube video description [Channel - Eretz Zen]:
Al Mayadeen TV has shown a group of Syrians who had defected earlier from
the Syrian Army to join the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA) before realizing that
what they were doing was wrong, so they decided to rejoin the legal Syrian
Arab Army, while stating that their weapons should only be used for the
liberation of Palestine rather than fighting their own citizens.

Organs taken from patients that doctors were pressured to declare brain dead: suit
Washington Post
Jamie Schram
The New York Organ Donor Network pressured hospital staffers to declare
patients brain dead so their body parts could be harvested — and even hired
“coaches” to train staffers how to be more persuasive, a bombshell lawsuit
charged yesterday.
The federally funded nonprofit used a “quota” system, and leaned heavily on
the next of kin to sign consent forms when patients were not registered as
organ donors, the suit charged.

Rocket from Syria lands in northern Israel, Damascus official denies reports of misplaced army shelling
A top Syrian government official speaking to KleinOnline denied that a
rocket launched from Syria that landed in northern Israeli territory today
was misplaced Syrian army firing, as has been widely reported.
“I am not aware of any clashes between the Syrian Army and the rebels
taking place so close to the Israeli border,” added the Syrian official.
“In any case, the Syrian army does not fire rockets against the rebels.”
The official further said that mortars launched from Syria that landed in
Israel yesterday were not related to any fighting between the rebels and

"I'm Lovin' It": Fast-Food Logos 'Imprinted' in Children's Brains, Study Says
Childhood obesity is a growing health concern in the public sphere, but for
many of us, it also hits close to home. But while public health campaigns
have singled in on parents providing children with unhealthy nutrition
options and with poor examples of healthy eating, new research indicates
that some of the problem may lie with fast food companies and their overly
effective marketing campaigns. A study has found that fast-food logos are
branded into the minds of children from an early age.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, childhood

PBS ombudsman on climate science segment: ‘Not the PBS NewsHour’s finest 10 minutes’
By Michael Getler
21 September 2012
It was not the PBS NewsHour's finest 10 minutes. In my view, and that of
hundreds, even thousands of others, the program stumbled badly. On the
other hand, it was not the end of the world, so to speak.
A segment on climate change last Monday evening produced a storm of protest
from critics who felt the program mislead viewers — by a faulty application
of journalistic balance — about the very real threat of global warming and
man's contribution to it, as well as a sprinkling of support from those who
think that threat is overstated and that ba... more »
Maureen Dowd can’t bottle it up!
*WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26, 2012*
*Typing like cats and dogs:* For more than a decade, Maureen Dowd has built
her weird political vision around a particular notion:
Democratic men are a big bunch of girls. Dem women act like men!
Dowd was fixed on this view by early in Campaign 2000. This was its most
famous expression:
DOWD (6/16/99): Al Gore is so feminized and diversified and ecologically
correct, he's practically lactating.
As the years rolled by, Democratic men kept acting like girls, Dem women
kept seeming like men. And sure enough! In early 2008, Candidate Obama

When freedom of expression is used to incite the public to hatred of a
national, religious, racial or ethnic group it becomes a crime. According

Army Corps not liable for Katrina damage: court
Reuters

A U.S. appeals court has reversed itself and found that the Army Corps of
Engineers cannot be held liable in property owners' lawsuits over flood
damage during Hurricane Katrina.
More than 400 property owners had filed lawsuits after the August 2005
hurricane, many targeting the Corps of Engineers. The plaintiffs had said
the Corps of Engineers had delayed armoring the Mississippi River-Gulf

decisions rather than public policy considerations.

Water Meters: Fleecing the People
The British Isles are home to the wettest weather in all of Europe. For
the last four days, the rain has poured, with barely a moment of respite.
This is normal, and what one would expect. Considering the usual weather
pattern in the Isles, it would be ludicrous for a collection of nations,
literally drenched in water, to have restrictions on water usage. However,
that is precisely the position we find ourselves in.
All new built homes legally have to have Water Meters installed. The
excuse for this imposition is that the massive increase in population over

The quake's epicenter was located 46 miles north of La Paz, Mexico, and was

"It felt pretty strong," said Ivan Calderon, a Baja California Sur state
civil protection official, adding there were no reports of damages or

Thousands Rage Against Cutbacks In Spain
*Thousands of protesters have marched on Madrid's parliament building as
anger over austerity measures and tax hikes increases in Spain.*
More than 1,000 riot police blocked off access to the building in the

Officers used batons to push back some protesters at the front of the march
and fired rubber bullets as they charged crowds in central Madrid,
according to reports.
The demonstration, with an "Occupy Congress" slogan, drew protesters weary
of nine months of painful cutbacks imposed by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.

CT Images Reveal 300 Million-Year-Old Cockroach
*Images in 3D of 300 million-year-old insects have been revealed by
scientists at a British university.*
By placing fossils in a CT scanner, and taking over 3,000 X-rays from
different angles, the scientists were able to create 2,000 slices showing
the creatures in cross section.
From these slices, the researchers created 3D digital reconstructions of
the fossils which allowed them to learn more about their lifestyle, biology
and diet.
One of the insects, characterised by a large number of sharp spines, is a
new species and genus which no longer exists.
The other is an early pred... more »

A “DEBATE” IS SUPPOSEDLY under way about monetary policy in New Zealand. A
“debate” begun by economic ignoramuses calling for the Reserve Bank to
redirect its efforts from “stabilising prices” to lowering our exchange

What this amounts to is a call to use the printing press to lower our

Revealingly, however, neither of the politicians promoting this call to
lower wages by means of the printing press give this as their method.

adjustment toward equanimity, in which we can hold onto both worlds, that
