At This Point, The Syrian Government Is More Popular Than European Governments
The dictatorial Spanish government is using violence against the Spanish
people and crushing their demands for reform, freedom, and justice.
Will the "international community" intervene in Spain to stop this
oppression? Will Western governments demand the end of the violence against
peaceful protests in Spain?
Will President Obama get on his high horse and spout nonsense about
dropping bombs on the Spanish government in order to defend "human rights"
and "democracy"?
Will the U.S. media cry "Murder! Murder!" and demand a humanitarian
intervention in Spain?
Will the progressives ... more »

Democrats: if they believe that the economy should make Obama a big loser,
then they can believe, as Robert Reich does in the piece I quote over

Fear of Engagement
As it turns out, there is no reason to fear engagement. We are not

adjustment toward equanimity, in which we can hold onto both worlds, that

A new documentary video produced by an amateur climate researcher has the

The 25-minute presentation *[below]* explains that humans are dispersing
cloud-making chemicals, silver iodide in particular, into the atmosphere
globally at high altitudes for the purpose of increasing precipitation.

Man Crushed by Road Flattening Truck On Orders of Chinese Officials
A villager in northern China attempting to resist a forced government
relocation by remaining on his land was brutally crushed to death by a road
flattening truck on the orders of a Chinese government official.
The story, which was censored in China’s state controlled media, has caused
outrage amongst users of Weibo, the Chinese version of Twitter, given it’s
horrifying similarity to what happened to student protesters who were
crushed to death by tanks during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989.

Every person will face an ugly new reality when life as we know it
vanishes. It's coming. Soon. It might be a slow crawl decline or a rapid
descent into nightmarish conditions. Various scenarios now flit
threateningly across the horizon. If we're brave enough to peer into the
abyss, we can see some of these events bordering on fruition. Most are
unnerving; some will be paralyzing. Regardless of the fright factor, we
must examine individually how to handle these looming crises. When they
strike, people without a plan in place, will die.

The dangerous reality of nuclear power is becoming increasingly apparent in

Yet nations including Japan continue to press forward with nuclear power in

Romney's Tax Flip Towards Responsibility
Yesterday afternoon at PP, I wrote that Mitt Romney's tax plan -- as he
most recently at that point had described it on 60 Minutes -- still didn't
pass the giggle test. However, soon after that post the Romney campaign
clarified its position, and I'm glad to see that it was clarified in the
direction of becoming a responsible proposal.
Recall that Romney said he would cut income tax rates by 20%; protect
various preferred treatment of certain types of income; keep overall taxes
the same or lower for middle-income filers; and keep overall revenue

philosophy is a direct threat to the authority of the State. Depending upon
your perception of reality and the degree of legitimacy for government,

In the extreme, government statists consider most if not all natural rights

Fred Newman 1960
We were reviewing a book and found this interesting picture from 1960 of a
27 year old Fred Newman, then gossip editor of the Daily Sketch. He is with
Rosemary McLellan their Scottish 'stunt-girl'.
The picture was part of a book ' Scandal: a scurrilous history of gossip'
by Roger Wilkes. It appears that Fred's early editor days stood him in good
stead for his later life running Publishing News. He is quoted 'Our policy
is to entertain.' No change there then!
Still miss the man and his wit.

Researchers Manipulate Neurons in Worms' Brains and Take Control of Their Behavior
J.G. Vibes
A team of Harvard scientists have discovered how to manipulate neurons in
the brains of worms in order to take control of their behavior. This
literal mind control is achieved through the use of precisely targeted
lasers. So far researchers have been able to take over an animal's brain,
instruct it to turn in any direction they choose, and even to implant false
sensory information, fooling the animal into thinking food was nearby.
When news of this reaches the mainstream media there is no doubt that they
will say that there is no intention in using this on more comple... more »

Read Stuff, You Should
Happy Birthday to Mark Hamill, 61. His performance in the first movie is
