America's Mini-Civil Wars
There's one brewing in the midwest, another raging in the southeast and a
third building in the southwest. They're regional, inter-state conflicts
over distribution of dwindling groundwater resources.
In the southeast, the Army Corps of Engineers is under simultaneous attack
by lawsuits from Georgia, Florida and Alabama, each state accusing the
Corps of unfairly giving too much of their shared water resource to the
others. It's a situation that could well worsen quickly as sea level rise
begins to impact freshwater reserves including the Everglades.
In the southwest, it's the C... more »

Rebels circle Damascus airport; Russia, U.S. downbeat
Rebels fighting to topple Syrian President Bashar al-Assad declared
Damascus International Airport a battle zone on Friday, while Moscow and
Washington both sounded glum about the prospects of a diplomatic push to

Fighting around the capital city has intensified over the past week, and
Western officials have begun speaking about faster change on the ground in
a 20-month-old conflict that has killed 40,000 people.

Interesting question
A similar question could be asked of nearly every single person sitting on
Capitol Hill.
[graphic via]
Nearly all of them accrue significant nest eggs while they're in office and
they leave their political careers with secure lifetime benefits far beyond
what ordinary working people could even imagine. Pretty easy to then call
for painful cuts to what were supposed to be guaranteed benefits to the
people who paid for them over a lifetime when they aren't the ones who are
going to feel the pain.
Wonder How A Truly Warlike Economy Looks? (A National Disgrace)
Oh
yes it is.
This is not a story about America's insanely bloated "defense" budget.
It is not a story about the bent priorities this nation has come to
accept; to wit: more than half of every dollar collected in taxes goes
to warfare and spying, a multi-trillion dollar industry, while we reel
through national "debates" about cutting health care benefits for old
people and closing schools

Old Pesticide Manufacturing Site Has Imminent Cleanup
Rachel Rindfleisch at Contaminated Nation - Water Contamination, Land Pollution & Hazardous Waste locations - 1 hour ago
By: Duane Craig
Contaminated land on Whiteford Road in Whiteford, Md., nears a cleanup,
according to this article. The soil on the site is laced with arsenic left
behind from a chemical and fertilizer manufacturer.
Up until 1976, the manufacturer released waste from its mixing operations
into a pond on the property. The waste then flowed through a ditch and into
a nearby stream. While the chemical operation stopped using the pond in the
1970s, the adjacent packing company continued to use it for years afterward.
On the soil’s surface, arsenic has been recorded at 459 parts per bill... more »

British Nurse Hoaxed by Australian Radio DJs Takes Own Life
Jacintha Saldanha was on duty when two Aussie DJs tricked her into thinking
they were the Queen and Prince Charles calling for an update on the Duchess
of Cambridge. Saldanha put the call through to a duty nurse who divulged
confidential, intimate information about the expectant royal.
Just before 9:30, London time, this morning Saldanha was found
unconscious. She died shortly afterward from an apparent suicide.
A spokesman for St. James Palace said at no time did the palace complain
but, instead, offered its full support to the nurses.
Saldanha was a married mother of two.

Jacintha Saldanha Commits Suicide after Taking Prank Call from Australian DJs
A nurse working at the hospital treating the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge,
who was duped by a prank phone call, has died in a suspected suicide.
Jacintha Saldanha, who has worked at the hospital for four years, was found
dead at an address near King Edward VII's hospital in London on Friday
morning.
The hospital confirmed she had been the victim of a hoax phone call in
which two Australian DJs phoned up about Kate, who was being treated for
severe morning sickness.

China is now the biggest importer, exporter, and consumer of illegal timber

neighbouring countries such as Myanmar to remote areas of Africa.
With domestic forests incapable of meeting surging demand, China has a
gaping and growing timber deficit that can only be filled by imports. In

Dutch to Send Turkey 2 Patriot Systems
The Dutch government approved a NATO request Friday to send two batteries

footsteps, Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans said.
Parliament must sign off on the Cabinet decision, but Prime Minister Mark

lower house, so the vote is expected to be a formality.
The Dutch decision comes a day after Germany agreed to send two Patriot

Beautifully designed, ecologically sound, and socially-minded are not
phrases we associate with toothbrushes. But maybe they should be. Recently
profiled on Design Milk, Bogobrush is a biodegradable toothbrush on a
mission to bring healthy smiles to people across the country that do not
have accesses to dental care.
Growing up the children of a dentist, the brother and sister team of John
and Heather McDougall seemed destined to design a product that brought
social awareness, and environmental action to something as mundane as

Michigan has been the hell-hole of ALEC policy.
Every nasty possible thing that ALEC offers has been pushed and pushed and

ALEC-ers are determined to make Michigan the horror story of ALEC policy

The extremely sad thing is that the entire ALEC experiment is based on a

Is The Florida Commission On Human Relations A Malignant Force Against Employees?
The Florida Commission on Human Relations is the state equivalent of EEOC.
In order to sue under the Florida Civil Rights Act, you must first file a

Interview with Robert Scott Bell - EU Citizens Unwittingly Paid Monsanto To Help Defeat Prop 37 In California

*It turns out that at the same time Monsanto was helping to finance the
defeat of Prop 37 in California, the EU gave some bailout money to Monsanto
because they were unsuccessful in opening up markets in Eastern Europe.
The EU gave them 40 million to feather their nest. This is what happens

US, French Troops Prepare For Syria Invasion In Response To “Chemical Weapons” Threat
The USS Eisenhower, an American aircraft carrier that holds eight fighter
bomber squadrons and 8,000 men, arrived at the Syrian coast yesterday in
the midst of a heavy storm, indicating US preparation for a potential
ground intervention.
While the Obama administration has not announced any sort of American-led
military intervention in the war-torn country, the US is now ready to
launch such action “within days” if Syrian President Bashar al-Assad
decides to use chemical weapons against the opposition, the Times reports.

F-35 Purchase Cancelled
OTTAWA — The F-35 jet fighter purchase, the most persistent thorn in the
federal government's side and the subject of a devastating
auditor-general's report last spring, is dead.
Faced with the imminent release of an audit by accountants KPMG that will
push the total projected life-cycle costs of the aircraft above $30
billion, the operations committee of the federal Cabinet decided to scrap
the controversial sole-source program and go back to the drawing board, a
source familiar with the decision said.

In an act that seems to be living proof of the divine feminine rising on

and tanks observed but did not intervene. Morsi was rushed out the back of
the palace in a security car before the crowd broke into the palace doors.

North Korean leader cracking down on dissent, South says
North Korea's new young leader is using an imminent rocket launch to
bolster his prestige internally and crack down on dissent amid signs the
transition of power is not going as smoothly as planned, a top South Korean

The isolated North is to launch a rocket carrying what it says is a

Rights group: Israeli strike on Gaza home unlawful
A leading human rights group on Friday accused Israel of violating the laws
of war when it killed 12 civilians in an airstrike during its recent
conflict with Palestinian terrorists in Gaza.
Israel's army countered that Palestinian terrorists were to blame for
hiding in civilian buildings.
Israel launched its air assault on Gaza last month to try to stop frequent
rocket barrages at southern Israel. The conflict ended after eight days

In the meantime, we need to support efforts to change the Japanese

The Legitimacy of the Harper Majority is No Longer In Question. It's Over, Finished.
It wasn't just a troubled warplane that crashed and burned with Harper's
decision to cancel the purchase of the troubled F-35 light bomber. The
legitimacy of the Harper majority government crashed and burned alongside
it.
In addition to the robocalls and other election chicanery, Harper won his
majority by lying his ass off about the true cost of the F-35 programme.
Harper lied, MacKay lied, the whole sorry lot of them lied straight into
the faces of the Canadian public.
Look at it this way. If the Harper regime's chronic and blatant lying had
been exposed just a few days be... more »
At the end of the lens
We must be getting pretty close now; this Quest is but two days from
completion. With binoculars we could most likely see our destination. What
does it look like? How about this?
Or this (which I think must be a given)?
Perception with only our eyes is limited. We’ll have to rely on our most
powerful perceptual organ – our heart.
On the surface, life at the end of this Quest will “look” the way it does
now. We will be people doing our jobs and having relationships. You’ll
have to listen carefully to hear the Agape.
There will be an absence of sarcasm, a ... more »
US, NATO, GCC-backed Terrorists Preparing Chemical Attack?
A troubling video appears on YouTube showing rebel fighters testing

7, 2012* (Syria Tribune) - While President Obama is busy talking about
Syria’s chemical weapons, a troubling video appears on YouTube yesterday
showing what appears to be a rebel group testing chemical weapons on lab
rabbits, and threatening to use them against Syrian civilians on a
sectarian basis.

News from the Jews
Once again, I’d like to highlight a few recent news items from the Jewish
press. You can really learn a lot reading the Jewish press, and gain a
deeper insight into the true nature of organized Jewry, as we’ll see here.
Gary Osen, writing in *The Times of Israel*, argues that journalists are in
fact military targets, but only when they are documenting the crimes of and
resisting the usurping, illegitimate Jewish state occupying Palestine.
Anyone resisting the terrorist state of “Israel”, intellectually,
physically, or both, is a "terrorist" and a legitimate target according to

Sifting Through the Smoking Wreckage of Canada's F-35 Fiasco
*Never to Be*
The Harper government's abandonment of the "troubled" F-35 buy has seismic
implications.
This is the first time Stephen Harper truly lost his mojo. He wanted this
hopelessly flawed warplane so badly that he was prepared to lie and have
his cabinet menagerie do the same. It was Canada's admission ticket to
America's aerial Foreign Legion. It was stepping up to the plate, staring
down the critics at home, standing "shoulder to shoulder" with all the big
boys - America, Britain, Australia - all the English-speaking
major-leaguers.
Curiously enough it wasn't the F-35's... more »

Apple... INsourcing
Apple is such an iconic American brand that many Apple evangelists feel
hurt that the company outsources so much of its maufacturing overseas.
People are more emotionally attached to Apple than to most brands-- and
want it to be all-American... or at least, more American. And that may be
happening. According to CEO Tim Cook, Apple is planning to bring back some
of its production to the U.S. from China next year. In fact, some of the
newest iMacs no longer carry the embarrassing "designed in California,
assembled in China" label.
Looks like Apple is sick of being the face of outs... more »

they would retaliate against an Obama win, taking it out on their employees.

“Darker days are just as much a part of life as are the days graced with
sunshine. When we refer to a “beautiful day,” we are often describing a day
that is sunny, clear, and without a cloud in sight to mar a sky that is a
brilliantly perfect blue. We find ourselves bouncing along, light in
spirit, free from worries, and enjoying the moment. That is, until the
clouds begin to form. The sky may turn grey, and a fog may roll in. Puffs

they were dropping Napalm bombs, a chemical weapon.

What's in a name
I understand what Ryan is trying to say here. I share his regret that we
didn't come up with a better name than the fiscal cliff. But I don't think
the problem was that everyone was too fond of their own alternative. It's
more that none of the alternatives were catchy enough.
I'm reminded of our efforts to dislodge Obamacare. Once a term gets firmly
lodged in the official public discourse, it's really hard to replace it.
Not even sure it's worth it in this case. This fight won't last that long.
Personally, I wish the left could find a way to replace the odious
