New Scientist wants indoctrination, not balance, in climate education

catastrophic projections come from multiple positive feedbacks in climate models.

In 2010, a survey of 1372 climate scientists found that 97 per cent of those who publish most frequently in the field were in no doubt. They agreed with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that human activity had caused most of Earth's warming over the second half of the 20th century. By comparison with these scientists, the climate expertise of the small group of contrarians was substantially lower (Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, DOI: 10.1073/pnas.1003187107).
Ah yes, science by head count, and the politicised statements of a political organisation, the IPCC.

Missing Persons: Reality vs Evidence

It is a common practice that the key witness is always given death threat by perpetrators of terrorist attacks. But court requires evidence as its is not concerned with reality.

It is due to the loopholes in the existing legal system, anti-terrorism law—lack of evidence, as a result of which terrorists are freed from the courts and then they again continue playing with the blood of the innocent people and the security forces and agencies.
Pakistan intelligence agencies, especially ISI have made relentless efforts and unearthed the terrorist networks. We should appreciate these agencies which foiled planned terror activities by capturing the terrorists, and  thus saved hundreds of other innocent lives.
While discussing reality and evidence, it is also mentionable that Pakistan’s media is still crying for the four dead detainees who were party to the hideous crime which costed thousands of innocent lives. In this context, negative approach of our media anchors can be judged from the fact that on June 15, 2011, hundreds of journalists and human rights activists from across the country had marched in Islamabad, while accusing ISI for the murder of Journalist Syed Saleem Shahzad. Human rights activist Asma Jehangir who is pro-American had also filed a case in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in this connection, openly blaming this intelligence agency regarding Saleem’s assassination. Some American high officials had also expressed similar thoughts. But the report of a high-level judicial commission which was released on January 12, 2012 to probe the killing of Saleem Shahzad found no proof about ISI in this matter.
Regarding the cases of missing persons, the situation of Balochistan is of particular attention, where acts of sabotage like bomb blasts, target killings, destruction of gas pipelines, forced abductions, ethnic and sectarian violence have become every day occurrence. Everyone knows that Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and another group, Jundollah (God’s soldiers) which have been fighting for secession of the province gets logistic support from American CIA and Indian RAW. Action should also be taken against the so-called NGOs and human rights groups which are following the foreign agenda in distorting the image of Pakistan and its security agencies by ignoring the facts.

Libya : NATO`s worst crime

Destruction of the Prison Industry
African people and particularly African youth are the targets of a global, corrupt prison-industrial complex.
The major crimes in Africa are neo-colonialism and imperialism, where blood thirsty, reactionary, greedy leaders of African states in conjunction with imperialists’ forces start wars against African people. At the same time, in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Kenya, Uganda, Azania\South Africa, et cetera the African masses are accused of “crimes” and forced into prison merely because they defy the abuse of power from the neo-colonial state and the abuse of foreign imperialist pressure.
In 1998, Cuban nationals Ramon LabaƱino, Rene Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez, Antonio Guerrero and Gerardo Hernandez were arrested in Miami, Florida. They were charged with 26 counts of violating federal laws. Their "crimes" involved alleged acts that were minor and non-violent but they are serving four lifetime sentences and 77 years in U.S. prisons collectively. Their mission was to infiltrate and monitor terrorist and criminal groups in Miami that are responsible for the deaths of thousands of Cubans and which pose a continuing threat to the Cuban people and the government of Cuba.
Although a wide variety of goods have long been produced by state and federal prisoners for the US government—license plates are the classic example, with more recent contracts including everything from guided missile parts to the solar panels powering government buildings—prison labor for the private sector was legally barred for years, to avoid unfair competition with private companies. But this has changed thanks to the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC), its Prison Industries Act, and a little-known federal program known as PIE (the Prison Industries Enhancement Certification Program).
Mass incarceration is 21st century slavery that demands abolition.

A Climate Science Post On September 4 2011 Involving Peter Gleick

On September 4 2011 I posted
Hatchet Job On John Christy and Roy Spencer By Kevin Trenberth, John Abraham and Peter Gleick
I have reposted below since the recent behavior (e.g. see) of Peter Gleick, co-founder and president of the Pacific Institute for Studies in Development, Environment, and Security in Oakland, California,  involving the Heartland Institute is just another example of the often vitriolic and unseemly behavior by some to discredit what are appropriate alternative viewpoints on the climate issue.  Unfortunately, the action towards the Heartland Institute displayed by Peter Gleick is just another example of an attitude of a significant number of individuals in the leadership of the climate science community.

 Watt`s up with that
Unbelievable. Daily Kos elevates Gleick to hero status (via Tom Nelson):
Daily Kos: Hero Scientist responsible for Heartland Expose
Hero scientist, Peter Gleick, a water and climate analyst is the one responsible for exposing the Heartland agenda to spread misinformation and lies and subvert any real action for the climate change crisis.  He did so at considerable risk to his career and personal reputation.

An Open Letter to Dr. Linda Gundersen

Dear Dr. Gundersen;
I see that due to the highly theatrical auto-defenestration of your predecessor, Dr. Peter Gleick, you are now the Chair of the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Task Force on Scientific Integrity. I’m not sure whether to offer my congratulations or my condolences. Let me offer you both, as you have both huge opportunity and huge danger in front of you, and the reputation of your Task Force has already suffered serious damage.
Next, let me put it to you straight. As Dr. Gleick’s demise for wire fraud is just the latest demonstration, far too many climate scientists have all the scientific integrity of a desperate grifter whose con is going badly wrong. Consider for example the response from Dr. Gleick’s supporters to his actions, who in many cases have lauded him as a “whistleblower”, and some of whom stop just short of proposing him for climate sainthood.
So my question for you is this: what are you planning to do about this abysmal state of affairs?

Fakegate: why the perps should be prosecuted

Guest post by Christopher Monckton of Brenchley
Yesterday I had the pleasure of chairing a packed meeting in the Palace of Westminster (don’t tell the Clerk of the Parliaments), at which Professor Richard Lindzen of MIT spoke even more brilliantly than usual on “global warming”, and engagingly answered many questions from Parliamentarians and the public.
Afterwards, Dick went to brief a Cabinet Minister (who shall be nameless, but he is a good egg, and privately regards catastrophic manmade “global warming” as nonsense). The Minister indicated – in effect, and with scarcely-concealed regret – that the party line set by David Cameron in response to various opinion polls, focus groups and other such artifices for identifying and following a consensus rather than setting a lead, and not the objective scientific and economic truth, was likely to remain the basis of UK climate policy.
In reality, orders issued to our elected nominal “government” by the hated, unelected Kommissars of the EU, our true government, who have exclusive competence to decide and dictate the UK’s environment and climate policies, are and will remain the basis of UK climate policy, regardless of what (or whether) Cameron and his vapid focus groups think (if “think” is the right word). Government of the people, by the people, for the people has perished from this once-free, formerly-democratic corner of the Earth. We have all the trappings of democracy and none of the reality.

David Rose: Forget global warming - it's Cycle 25 we need to worry about (and if NASA scientists are right the Thames will be freezing over again)
after emitting unusually high levels of energy throughout the 20th Century, the sun is now heading towards a ‘grand minimum’ in its output, threatening cold summers, bitter winters and a shortening of the season available for growing food.

Climate Change Statement
We, the faculty of the Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences of Texas A&M, agree with the recent reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that:
  1. It is virtually certain that the climate is warming, and that it has warmed by about 0.7 deg. C over the last 100 years.
  2. It is very likely that humans are responsible for most of the recent warming.
  3. If we do nothing to reduce our emissions of greenhouse gases, future warming will likely be at least two degrees Celsius over the next century.
  4. Such a climate change brings with it a risk of serious adverse impacts on our environment and society.
Global warming activists seek to purge `deniers`among local weathermen
The Forecast the Facts campaign — led by 350.org, the League of Conservation Voters and the Citizen Engagement Lab — is pushing for more of a focus on global warming in weather forecasts, and is highlighting the many meteorologists who do not share their beliefs.
“Our goal is nothing short of changing how the entire profession of meteorology tackles the issue of climate change,” the group explains on their website. “We’ll empower everyday people to make sure meteorologists understand that their viewers are counting on them to get this story right, and that those who continue to shirk their professional responsibility will be held accountable.”
According to the Washington Post, the reason for the campaign can be found in a 2010 George Mason University surveys, which found that 63% of television weathermen think that global warming is a product of natural causes, while 31% believe it is from human activity.

More Peer Reviewed Papers Showing “It’s The Sun, Stupid!”

One of the IPCC’s most dubious achievements is ignoring so many papers showing that the sun plays a huge role in our climate. The sun play a role? Yeah, right!
3. Solar and volcanic fingerprints in tree-ring chronologies over the past 2000 years; Breitenmoser et al, 2012
Results from wavelet analysis and SEA reveal significant periodicities near the solar DeVries frequency in the volcanic and residual ‘volcano free’ contributions during the LIA, making a clear separation of the solar and volcanic forcing signals difficult. Nevertheless, the ‘volcano free’ temperatures show significant periodicities near the DeVries frequency during the entire past 1500 years, pointing to a solar imprint on global climate.
5. Variations in climate parameters at time intervals from hundreds to tens of millions of years in the past and its relation to solar activity; Raspopov et al, 2010, see abstract here.
Our analysis of 200-year climatic oscillations in modern times and also data of other researchers referred to above suggest that these climatic oscillations can be attributed to solar forcing. The results obtained in our study for climatic variations millions of years ago indicate, in our opinion, that the 200- year solar cycle exerted a strong influence on climate parameters at those time intervals as well.”
7. Multifractal Detrended Cross-Correlation Analysis of sunspot numbers and river flow fluctuations; Hajian, 2010, see abstract here.
Our results show that there exists a long-range cross-correlation between the sunspot numbers and the underlying streamflow records.”

Thinking about the Schwab-Pohl-Ehrlich similarities (and one can add Silent Spring and Mead and Lovelock), and when you consider that CO2 warming catastrophe fears go back at least to the 1950ies, BEFORE the warming in the 80ies, one can say that that warming phase – which was exactly LIKE the warming phase in the 20ies to 40ies – came AFTER the invention of the scare story. No matter whether the late 20th century warming was in any way different from earlier warming periods, it fell on PREPARED GROUND – there were already flocks of alarmists in waiting! So the warming in the 80ies was used to run that racket.
I see CAGW as an entirely cultural phenomenon. Climate Science willingly played its part to give this new endtime movement a scientific facade. CO2 was assigned the role of the villain BEFORE the alleged CO2-caused warming took place. The script was already written.
Well, and it will all go downhill from here. Watch AMSU Discover plunge…

Climate Tricks 2: Solar Activities (TSI, Ap index, Neutrons) Don't Matter

One of the climate tricks by the anthropogenic global warming (AGW) proponents is to almost totally ignore the role of the Sun on our climate. Thus, they do not pay any attention to solar activities as measured by total solar irradiance (TSI), geomagnetic field or the Ap index, and neutron count, among others.

Here are two recent papers by Australian geologist David Archibald, both posted in http://wattsupwiththat.com. Dr. Archibald is saying that as the current solar cycle 24 (one solar cycle is 11 years on average, some are shorter, some are longer) is projected to be long, probably 18 years. Longer time for the Sun to ramp up, global cooling happens and is extended.

I added a 3rd paper from http://notrickszone.com/ by Pierre Gosselin, more peer reviewed papers are coming out saying "It's the Sun, Stupid".

So even if each person on the planet will be riding a car and the number of SUVs will double to its current number, global cooling will still happen. So what's the fuss about all those UN and government efforts to "fight global warming and climate change" and "save the planet"?
