Is the “Imminent Liberation of Libya” Propaganda?

“Gaddafi’s days are numbered,” boasted U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Jeffrey Feltmanfrom the CIA-rebel “stronghold” of Benghazi. “The best-case scenario is for Gaddafi to step down now… that’s the best protection for civilians.”
In other words, if Gaddafi does not “step down” and stop resisting the foreign takeover of his country by NATO and the U.S., the CIA’s rebels (known for brutalizing civilians) and NATO bombing raids will kill more innocent Libyans.
Is al-Qaeda in Libya and the CIA really on the verge of “liberating” Libya from Gaddafi? Depends on who is doing the reporting.
According to the Pentagon script-readers at ABC-CBS-CNN-Fox et al, the rebels are on the verge of victory. However, independent journalists report a far different story

Each case starts with a promise of a better life, he said, followed by transport to Canada and then a change of perspective that causes the victim to understand he or she will not get what they were promised.
This is typically followed by verbal threats and more promises to keep the people here.

Japan Coverage Cooling Down

Kan and his Cabinet have faced criticism over their handling of the March 11 disasters as survivors grew frustrated by slow-paced relief and reconstruction efforts.

Relief and reconstruction?

They haven't even cooled the place down yet, and it's actually getting worse!

My Blog List

Someone should care, maybe not you....

A few weeks ago I had a blog post half written about how the urge for consensus in foreign policy had doomed the Libyan rebellion. Then, much to my surprise the UN pulled a resolution out of nowhere and authorized a "No Fly Zone" which was interpreted to mean a "Blow up Libyan military assets wherever we may find them". Low and behold, Benghazi was saved and it looked like I was wrong.Well, not so fast.As it turns out the effort is being somewhat less than gloriously successful.  the rebels are too weak to actually win, and the Libyan military can't mass enough forces without getting bombed to actually beat them. And when oh when are people going to "protect the civilians" in Syria? Never I'd wager.Interesting times indeed.

Since the purported Libyan mission involved offering succour to civilians it was worthy noting that the only 'cover' available is in the cities : which are therefore bombed. Doug's Darkworld at unitedcats.wordpress.com put up a little analysis on that not too long ago. I was more interested in the great underground water project - Turkey has one too - and in Israel's thirst. Not to mention securing strategic control of the Med and the Africom connection.
