Why are intelligent people not confident?
We depend on our cognitive abilities to make decisions and this provides the basis for doubts and this is natural. Just because you are the smartest man in the room does not make you right either which is why we should all promote consensus in order to both flush out better options while also recruiting everyone to the best option. Thus it is intelligent to promote consensus and to affect a lack of confidence even when you know the inevitable outcome. All this nicely avoids conflict been promoted by yourself * Why are intelligent people not confi... read more
In Roman times, how populated were the non-Roman parts of Europe compared to the Empire?
Turns out, it was a lot less than we thought. This makes ample sense as densification came only with the steel plow able to break the soils. All that meant metallurgy along the Rhine which was a later development. It also means that those German lands were not worth taking then. It also informs us of the type of population density encountered in the americas as well. Every tribe established wide empty zones to protect against constant conflict. Thus urbanized roman lands had a huge manpower advantage to work from. They actually failed to truly optimize this, but still held of... read more
Lost Cities of the Amazon Discovered From the Air
When i discovered the effectivenes of terra preta soil creation in these jungles, some fifteen years ago, it was easy to anticipate a pre contact population of even tens of millons. I am comfortable with twenty million at least but we do not know except it was possible and that makes reality likely. They had the tools which we are only now using again. Terra preta will make all soils retain nutrients. This includes, rather obviously, all tropical soils which can be farmed year round and decade after decade. These populations disappeared after contact with European contagious d... read more
Where do you want to be in a modern battlefield, in a tank or in the infantry?
This is an obvious question that is not asked in order to sustain morale. A tank is a visible large target for just about everything on the battlefield. Today we hear of literally hundreds of tanks destroyed in the Ukraine. The crews did not survive. Infantry is much harder to directly target and can always go to ground. Recall the Canadian regiment in Korea that was been over run by a couple thousand Chinese soldiers. They hit their fox holes and called down their own artillery. I think they lost one or two in the process while destroying the Chinese assault. So yes, infan... read more

*"Weekly News Wrap-Up 5/27/22"* Mysterious Vax Deaths? Gun Control Diversion & Food Crisis By Greg Hunter’s USAWatchdog.com "Every week we are seeing what the legacy/mainstream media describe as “mysterious deaths” or “died suddenly.” There is no other explanation ever given. The latest is actor Ray Liotta who “suddenly” dies in his sleep. As a reporter, the question is a simple why? What is the cause of death? Sometimes you get the family wanting “privacy.” It’s almost a sort of “Stockholm Syndrome” where the victims protect their abusers. In this case, is it the vax makers? Does i... read more

"Ukraine Is Losing the War"
*"Ukraine Is Losing the War"* by Jim Rickards "The propaganda campaign on behalf of Ukraine is remarkable. You would think the U.S. itself was at war with Russia. How ‘Virtual Crime Scenes’ Became A Propaganda Tool
This article shows how media uses computer modeling and “virtual crime scenes” to assign blame for some extremely important international events. In these examples from Nicaragua, Ukraine and Syria, many people died in complex circumstances. The deaths at the “Mother’s March” in Managua, Nicaragua precipitated an attempted coup. The Maidan Massacre in Kyiv led to an actual coup. The claims of a chemical attack in Douma led to the US, France and the UK bombing Syria. The three incidents are in different continents but share some key characteristics: each is to some degree emblemat... read more
