Mushroom leather and plastics.
This took me by surprise. turns out it is great at producing a quality leather and plausibly a substrate for high quality plastics as well. Do expect this to take over a huge number of markets and certainly eliminate all the fake plastic leather products. no loss there. This will also plausibly replace our non biodegradable plastics as well, but this will take time. Yet I am now seriously hopeful that this can work as the fibre will be biodegradable even if the plastic binder is not so much. This is finally a path forward. *Mycelium’s magic moment* *Photo: Getty Image... read more

“Upgrade the United Nations” – Listen in On The People
Civic participation is seen as an important component in fulfilling the UN agenda. Citizens must be made more involved. It all sounds wonderful. But when looking closer, it seems to be mostly about legitimising UN’s own agenda and fostering more obedient citizens. The UN only listens to the citizens and groups that say what they … Continue reading “Upgrade the United Nations” – Listen in On The People → read more

RAPHAEL WARNOCK GETS DUKAKISED
Ahead of his upcoming debate with Senator Raphael Warnock, Herschel Walker is lowering expectations in a way that seems unusual but is, in a way, quintessentially Republican: Georgia Senate hopeful Herschel Walker (R) downplayed himself ahead of his debate with Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-Ga.) next month, saying “I’m not that smart” ... Speaking to reporters on Friday, Walker was asked what kind of preparation he was doing for the debate. “Talking to the voters, talking to you. ON OUR WAY TO A POST-REALITY AMERICA
Over the weekend I posted a tweet in response to a then-trending hashtag: #MarthasVineyardRacists. I got a fair amount of right-wing abuse for objecting to the faulty premise of the hashtag: #MarthasVineyardRacists is trending, which proves that it doesn't matter what actually happened when those immigrants arrived - in the right-wing information bubble, everyone is told that the response was horror and revulsion. Fox said it, they believe it, and that settles it. — Steve M. (@nomoremister) September 18, 2022 The immigrants were greeted warmly on the Vineyard, but eventually they w... read more

The Chris Hedges Report: The Monstrous Myth Of Custer
The playwright Eugene O’Neill said that one of the few events worth celebrating in American history took place on June 25, 1876, when Lakota, Northern Cheyenne, and Arapaho, led by Crazy Horse and Chief Gall, annihilated a unit of the 7th Cavalry under the command of Lt. Col. George Armstrong Custer. There are few battles in American history that have generated as much controversy or been as meticulously dissected and examined. And with good reason. The death of Custer and his command stunned the nation. It turned Custer into a martyr for the cause of western expansion and imperia... read more

Europe’s Real-Time Experiment In Energy Contraction
European society is currently undergoing a real-time experiment in energy contraction. Sanctions imposed on Russia in the wake of the Russia-Ukraine conflict have led to a dramatic reduction in imports of Russian oil and natural gas. The Europeans are still receiving some Russian oil via pipeline though that flow was reduced last month. The reasons for the decline in natural gas deliveries from Russia—deliveries not prevented by Western sanctions—are disputed with each side accusing the other of being the cause. Those of us who have been warning about the coming energy stringency ... read more
US Is Becoming A ‘Developing Country’ On Global Rankings
The United States may regard itself as a “leader of the free world,” but an index of development released in July 2022 places the country much farther down the list. In its global rankings, the United Nations Office of Sustainable Development dropped the U.S. to 41st worldwide, down from its previous ranking of 32nd. Under this methodology – an expansive model of 17 categories, or “goals,” many of them focused on the environment and equity – the U.S. ranks between Cuba and Bulgaria. Both are widely regarded as developing countries. The U.S. is also now considered a “flawed democr... read more
Power to the Grid: Unleashing the Energy to Grow
