A Note on Balochistan's History
Hawan at Shri Hinglaj Mata Balochistan accounts for nearly half of Pakistan’s land mass and it is rich in natural resources. Most Indians, and even Pakistanis, would not know that Balochistan became independent four days before Pakistan: on 11 August 1947. After declaring independence, the leader of Balochistan, MIr Ahmed Yar Khan, the last Khan of Kalat, tried to make a favorable impression on the British government by nominating Douglas Fell, a British, as his foreign minister. Balochistan and Pakistan existed side-by-side as two independent nations till March 1948, when the Pa... read more

US Gov’t’s Modus Op: Create Problem, Blame Target Country, Impose Sanctions
Washington always justifies economic sanctions by evoking a military or security threat against either the US or any one of its allies. Then it actively works to prove the legitimacy of the threat – or to create the illusion thereof. One such instance involved House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taipei over the summer, which … Continue reading US Gov’t’s Modus Op: Create Problem, Blame Target Country, Impose Sanctions → read more

Decolonizing The Mind
It is vital to free ourselves from belief in the systems of white supremacy and imperialism that are inculcated in the educational system and are affirmed and amplified by the media and establishment opinion. The recent death of Queen Elizabeth II puts the need for political and psychological liberation in high relief. We are encouraged to admire an anachronistic monarchy, and are exhorted to join in mourning an individual and a system that have caused great harm to Black and other oppressed people around the world. It is important to point out that British prime ministers are hea... read more
No Tech For Apartheid Israel
In this episode of The Watchdog, former Google employee Ariel Koren joins Lowkey and articulates her experience at the big tech giant, claiming it has gradually developed an institutionalised pro-Israeli bias. She also reveals ways in which employees attempting to hold the company accountable for unethical contracts, such as that of Project Nimbus, are being targeted and intentionally silenced. Google, alongside Amazon, has signed a contract worth $1.2 billion, titled “Project Nimbus”, which will provide a cloud system service for both the Israeli military and the Israeli governme... read more
Joe Biden Thinks A Rail Strike Has Been Averted
Just after 5 a.m. on Thursday, Marty Walsh tweeted that the railroad companies and the railroad unions had come to a tentative agreement, less than 19 hours from a potential shutdown: “Moments ago, following more than 20 consecutive hours of negotiations at [the Department of Labor], the rail companies and union negotiators came to a tentative agreement that balances the needs of workers, businesses, and our nation’s economy. The Biden Administration applauds all parties for reaching this hard-fought, mutually beneficial deal. Our rail system is integral to our supply chain, and a... read more
I’m A Railroad Worker
As I think about generations gone by, the values people held, the moral compasses that guided them, I can’t help but wonder what our ancestors would say about the mess this country is in today. Somewhere along the line, I think, a paradigm shift occurred: We stripped this country down and sold every scrap of society and community to the highest bidder, while the things that we used to hold near and dear withered and rotted like old fruit. We’ve forgotten what the Constitution of this great nation says, we hate each other for our differences rather than embracing them, and our lead... read more

For People In Caribbean, Leaving British Monarchy More Than Symbolic
Born in the Bahamas in the late 1940s when the archipelago was still under the British rule, Niambi Hall Campbell-Dean’s mother was taught in school a version of colonial history that did not focus on the suffering of the slaves who were brought to the islands against their will. "Their version [of the history], I think, more than changing the story was the story of a mission. For example, my mother, who was born as a baby boomer, grew up learning that coal came from a certain part of England. But it was never about the archipelago of the islands of the Bahamas. Their focus of the... read more
A Socialist Take On The Women’s March Convention
On the weekend of August 12, over 1,700 people converged on Houston, Texas, for the Women’s March Convention. Upon check-in at the almost $200 per night Hilton hotel, the convention displayed in the lobby beautifully painted “protest signs” that read “My Body, My Choice,” “El lugar de la mujer es en la resistencia (women’s place is in the resistance)” and “The whole damn system is wrong.” Images highlighted Black and Latinx women in particular, with radical imagery invoking the Black Panthers and indigenous women in struggle. The conference was sponsored by the usual suspects — i... read more
41 Arrested In San Francisco Airport Fast Food Worker Protest
Forty-one people were arrested Friday at San Francisco International Airport as airport fast food workers protested their wages, according to Unite Here, the union that represents many SFO workers. We Need to Talk About Lady G
So there Lindsey Graham was last Tuesday, surrounded by oodles of beautiful female flesh and trying admirably to tamp down his gag reflex that never seems to be triggered while fellating Donald Trump. It came at a time when other Republicans that actually have survival instincts know enough to skirt the SCOTUS' extremely unpopular Dobbs decision that coat-hangered Roe v Wade. For months, Republicans have been running with the speed of Olympic sprinters at the sight of anyone who even remotely looks like a reporter, especially one who might ask them about Roe. They literal... read more

Crowd Sourcing a Theory
Brett Cooper, a rising star at The Daily Wire, recently published this video (apologies that it’s on Facebook). Here’s but one example. A careful… Continue reading → read more
