The Cornish company - which specializes in full-size static models of aircraft, has been commissioned by the United States Navy to build the Spitfire as a memorial to Bill Dunn, a WW2 fighter pilot to mark the date he shot down two German aircraft in one day, which this year will be the 70th anniversary of the event. Once completed the aircraft, made of fibreglass with a steel frame inside with the exact details of the original, will be carefully dismantled, shipped over to the United States, and reassembled for display at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in North Carolina.
