Sickening. Sickening and stupid in the lead-up to the election. This is not a good time for Obama to remind us of his total and complete failure to "end the tyranny of oil'. Lies and broken promises wherever you turn. Wish we had better choices than a totally sold out monster with no discernible heart and an 80% sell-out with a weak heart, but until we get rid of the damned electoral college, those are the choices. So depressing.

The people who say we can't get enough solar power without taking up too much land are very short-sighted considering all the places we could double-purpose the land, everything from roofs and parking lots to irrigation ditches and highway verges.

And I agree strongly about American made. If we would mandate American made for all government energy projects, we would go a long way toward putting America back to work, and possibly have better gear, because a lot of what is coming in from China is crap (actually part of the plan to undermine green energy, because if it's crap people will think green energy doesn't work when the real truth is that crap-built equipment breaks).

The Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit is under way in Tehran. This extraordinary gathering of world leaders is being ignored or distorted because of the venue. The mainstream media is not reporting about the NAM summit or on the reality about the events in Syria. The military build-up in the Asia-Pacific around China is also being causally brushed aside as if it has minimal importance.

Mornin', fans! Here's a handy little Facebook life-hack that should keep your newsfeed from being overwhelmed by media orgs that post a lot (dang, there are a lot of us).

Go to your newsfeed. In the top right corner, just under your "update status" bar, there should be text that reads "sort by: top stories." Click it, and you can switch your newsfeed to "sort by: most recent," which takes care of that weird stacking thing Facebook sometimes does. Boom! An easily read newsfeed is yours.

Biodiversity faltering: 20% of invertebrates threatened with extinction

Twenty percent of invertebrates are at risk of extinction, according to a new report that looks at the 12,621 invertebrates assessed by the IUCN Red List to date. Although invertebrates never garner the same conservation attention as big, charismatic animals such as tigers and elephants, they play an undeniable role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. In addition, since invertebrates make-up 80 percent of the world's species, the report raises new concerns about global biodiversity decline.
