Why Israel Is Paying Close Attention to Ukraine
*Eitan Fischberger* *Russia-Ukraine War, Middle East* Considering the hostility of its neighbors, Israel is resolute to avoid the tactical errors that have left Ukraine with few realistic options to defend itself. Months of rising tensions on the Ukrainian border finally came to a head this week when Russian president Vladimir Putin signed executive orders recognizing the independence of two Russian-controlled territories in east Ukraine, dispatched troops to occupy the territory, and finally announced a full-scale military operation. Krispy Kreme and Twix Debut Candy-Stuffed Donuts as Part of New Collaboration
The Krispy Kreme donuts company and Twix are hardly known as health food companies, in fact, they’re pretty much the exact opposite. As the old Albert Einstein saying goes, “it takes a touch of courage and a lot of genius to move in the opposite direction,” and that’s exactly what these two companies have been doing in an era where many companies are working to provide healthier options to their customers. That doesn’t necessarily make it a good idea, however, as the ingredients list for these “phood” items demonstrates so clearly below. According to a report from Fox 2 News Detro... read more

Someone should probably tell Brian Stelter that popping a chubby because a bunch of people watched the horrors of war on CNN is not a great look for any so-called journalist or pundit. We get it, Brian feels like they’re losing relevance (he blames YouTube and TikTok and not their crap reporting, which is adorbs) but claiming ’emergencies’ help their ratings … yeah, that sucks, even for him. While one hopes for good news from Ukraine, like verification of tales of Russian conscientious defectors, emulating Viktor Belenko... it's also important to remember that this is a worldwide oligarchic putsch that Putin has been ring-leading for a decade. The biggest and best thing the West can do, other than immediate support for Ukrainian resistance? ...would be to dismantle Kremlinite fifth column networks that the slightly-relabeled KGB vastly expanded during their hold on the White House. Twelve Thoughts On Ukraine
Putin has launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the goal of which he claims is not to occupy the country but to “demilitarize” and “de-Nazify” it. We’ve no reason to put blind faith in any of those claims. Only time will tell. As of this writing dozens have reportedly been killed so far. All war is horrific. We can only hope that this one winds up being the least horrific a war can be. Some thoughts: 1. This whole thing could very easily have been avoided with a little bit of diplomacy. Disarming Ukraine – Day Two
The Russian operations in the Ukraine continue at a moderate pace. Some more troops were committed today. In all the Russian military may have now introduced some 20-40% of its prepared forces. The Ukrainian military is not so much holding a line but concentrating in and around its bigger cities. It has destroyed some bridges north of Kiev to make an approach more difficult. That will slow down the Russian moves but will not prevent them. Russia's military is famously good at setting up combat bridges. So far the Russians have used their artillery sparsely. War In Europe And The Rise Of Raw Propaganda
Marshall McLuhan’s prophecy that “the successor to politics will be propaganda” has happened. Raw propaganda is now the rule in Western democracies, especially the US and Britain. On matters of war and peace, ministerial deceit is reported as news. Inconvenient facts are censored, demons are nurtured. The model is corporate spin, the currency of the age. In 1964, McLuhan famously declared, “The medium is the message.” The lie is the message now. But is this new? Red States: As RedState reported earlier on Friday, Vladimir Putin’s plan to overtake Ukraine is not going particularly well. Where were the cries & howls in 2014 as Nazis massacred poeple in Odessa?
I went to Odessa, Ukraine in 2016 for the May 2 memorial service organized by the Council of Mothers. I was with Regis Tremblay and Phil Wilayto from the US. When we returned we each did our best to get the peace movement to pay attention to what happened in Odessa. Largely to no avail. The Nazis in Ukraine have flourished since then and today are inside some big cities of Ukraine holding their fellow citizens hostage as the Russian military closes in on them. Ever since the US orchestrated coup d'etat in 2014 I've almost daily studied and worked hard to bring these st... read more

If it wasn't the Russian nukes in the Cold War, it was the constant threat from what George W. used to so folksily called "those terrorist folks." So, many thanks to reader Valerie for sharing this excellent lecture by political science and foreign policy scholar... read more
