*Anthony Cox* with *Ken Stewart and Chris Gillham* Diurnal Temperature Range (DTR) is the difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures over a period typically a 24 hour period. The alarmists regard DTR as an essential part of AGW. Karl Braganza, a prominent alarmist at the BoM, for instance describes DTR as a *fingerprint* of AGW. Wehner on Orwell on Fierce Modesty

I enjoyed this essay by Peter Wehner. It is not about economics, but the lesson should be heeded by anyone who engages in the national debate over economic policy.

Biologist loses second paper — again, for unvalidated figures

Dalmeet Singh Chawla at Retraction Watch - 16 hours ago
A researcher at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio has retracted a second paper after a review found the figures didn’t match the original data. Last year, we reported on a previous retraction of a paper co-authored by biologist Alan Levine in Inflammatory Bowel Diseases, which was pulled for the exact same reason; even […] The post Biologist loses second paper — again, for unvalidated figures appeared first on Retraction Watch.

Turkey Moving Forward with Refugee Return & Electricity Provision to Syria: A Question That Begs Asking!

Penny at Penny for your thoughts - 16 hours ago
There is a round of news stories today concerning the return of Syrian refugees and Turkey providing electricity/water for the refugees. This is exactly the type of action by Turkey I would have expected to see take place. Should of said it here, but, always tell my hubby anyway. And what is being reported is what would be expected if Turkey was creating their long envisioned safe zone. *Flashback:* Turkey has long had a plan to create a safe zone and move refugees back into the area to impede the creation of Kurdistan straight across it’s border. In fact there were news stories flo... more »

Trumpanzee Toxicity Continues Threat To Congressional Republicans-- But Why Isn't Hillary Helping Democrats

*Click the image* Despite the Sabato Crystal Ball's warning this morning that no anti-Trump tsunami is forming, recent polling seems to confirm that Trump is dragging a number of Republican senators down the electoral toilet with him. Meanwhile, all the regular shady Republican SuperPAC donors are diverting their contributions from the Republican presidential race to Senate and House races. Even as vulnerable Republican senators-- like Rubio (FL), Burr (NC), Portman (OH), Ayotte (NH), Kirk (IL), Toomey (PA), Blunt (MO), McCain (AZ), Johnson (WI) and Grassley (IA)-- voted on their fi... more »

PAEDOPHILE PRIESTS A disturbing item of news being currently pushed by the media is the phenomenon of pædophilia in the Catholic Church. Principally the stories concern the Church in the USA, although other countries, (such as Eire), are also mentioned. The screaming media are clamouring for an end to celibacy in the Priesthood to combat this disgusting abuse. Admittedly, there is a sound logic for ending celibacy insofar as it is not a Scriptural prohibition but a Papal one. However, the implication is that the majority of the perverts who are wrecking the lives of children in the... more »

Donald Rumsfeld and Trump

Pella Curse Tablet

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 21 hours ago
The dark side of prayer is the curse. It says much of global Christianity and Buddhism that applying spiritual practice for unethical ends has been largely abandoned. Yet the temptation is still there and some do dip into those waters. Inimical spirits do exist and they will tempt. These tablets inform how prevalent such practice was in pagan culture. Our cultural pass through secularism has separated many from the actual practice of prayer while meditation is taking its place. Prayer has been taught as a selfish act and this must be guarded against. It is useful to ask for ... more »

Baltinglass Hill

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 21 hours ago
What sites such as these tell us is that the culture was producing population centers of serious size. This does conform to our expectations for Ireland during the European Bronze Age of 3000 BC through 1159 BC. Recall the large populations on the Pacific North West which was surprisingly stone age urban. They certainly produced huge structures in wood and made totem poles. Yet none of this would survive abandonment. Thus these populations in the British isles chose to create stone works. This at least left a record. *Baltinglass Hill: Ireland’s Forgotten Gobekli Tepi?* ... more »

[image: Mesoamerican and South American words found in the Native languages of the Southeastern United States] This continues to develop into an interesting line of research. I have no doubt now that From 2500 BC through 1159 BC, annual trade fleets carried peoples between Bimini and the Irish sea. what now makes it all so much richer is that this work is uncovering a later movement between northern Mexico and the SE Appalachians. Add in a force of Incan Miners and it gets richer still. We have also obviously barely begun. The dominance of the Atlantean world broug... more »

Is Anything Truly Random?

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 21 hours ago
I think the best way to tackle this is to observe that nothing is truly random but that the numbers become large enough to effect perfect randomness which is really another way of invoking mathematical infinity rather than empirical infinity. Thus we observe the usual debate that only exercises mathematicians. Much of our software somewhere invokes a random number generator that simply works well enough and will not produce an observable error for the lifetime of this galaxy at the least.. .. . *Is Anything Truly Random or Is There an Underlying Order to Everything? * *By Tara... more »

Liberal Islam is not the Answer to Islamic State

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 21 hours ago
. Well worth the read. There is always pressure for reform and energization of any movement. Thus we today have radical Islam and so called liberal Islam which has failed to address the missing spiritual aspect of Islam. I must say that this same error permeates Christianity since Constantine. Correctly integrating spiritual practice into both Christianity and Islam as a reformation of both Abrahamaic religions should be applied to both as well as Judaism which also falters on the spititual component. Secularism is actually founded on the outright rejection of the spiritual co... more »

iPhone 7 wireless buds: when tech progress focuses on impractical changes

After several years, I watched the full Apple product event last night. I was impressed by the technological achievements but the show hasn't made me "dream" about the new iPhone 7 or Apple Watch 2 etc. Let me start with a review of the event. Before Tim Cook, the Apple CEO, arrived, we saw a funny exchange he had with the taxi driver. It looked like a video that was filmed just before Cook entered the hall in San Francisco. Cook and various people were giving their talks. A billion of iPhones have been sold, that's why they are everywhere. Super Mario (Run) has finally been bro... more »

Julian Assange Confirms Sanders Was Threatened

Julian Assange has confirmed that Bernie Sanders was threatened into pulling out of the Democratic race in July. During a recent interview with Australian journalist John Pilger, Assange said that Bernie Sanders was forced to drop out of the race due to threats from the Clinton campaign. Assange’s admission appears to substantiate claims by the Kremlin who revealed they had evidence that Jane Sanders was physically threatened in order to “get Bernie on board” with Hillary’s campaign.
