UK To Build Trump Style Wall To Keep Out Illegal Migrants
The UK has announced plans to construct a “great wall” across one its most popular borders in order to stem the flow of illegal migrants coming in. Just two months after voting to leave the European Union, the UK have begun plans to build a 13-foot wall in Calais, where illegal crossings from France have quadrupled in recent years. Breitbart.com reports: UK Border Force guards on French soil stopped 84,088 illegal immigrants last year, figures released last month show. The new 13-foot (4 metre) high wall will be built of smooth concrete, making it hard toclimb, and will line the ro... more »
Goldman Sachs Threatens To Sack Employees Who Support Trump
Goldman Sachs have issued a set of strict new rules to their employees forbidding them from contributing to Donald Trump’s campaign. The new rule kicked in on September 1, and apply only to the firm’s partners. The memo detailing the rule specifically mentions the Trump-Pence campaign as an example of something partners cannot support. Fortune.com reports: The firm says the rules were meant to remove any implication of so-called “pay to play.” Four years ago, the bank paid $12 million to settle charges that a former Boston-based banker had picked up bond underwriting business in the...more »
Former Dutch PM Calls For Netanyahu To Be Tried For War Crimes
Former Dutch prime minister Dries van Agt has called for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be tried for war crimes, during Netanyahu’s visit in The Hague on Tuesday. Van Agt says that the Jewish homeland should be relocated to Germany instead of Israel, arguing that the Israeli government are illegally occupying Palestinian land. Uprooted Palestinians reports: He told the NPO 1 public television channel on Monday that “a war criminal coming to this country” and that Netanyahu should be sent to the International Criminal Court (ICC). “The occupation and expansion… building...more »

The person in charge of leading the criminal investigation into the Hillsborough disaster has been forced to step down due to ill health. The Home Office have confirmed that Assistant Commissioner Jon Stoddart, who spent almost four years as head of Operation Resolve, has been forced to resign due to severe health issues. Stoddart led the probe into the planning and preparation of the 1989 FA Cup semi-final between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest. I do not support "The Education for All Act" (HR 4481).
Stephen Krashen September, 2016 H.R. 4481, the "Education for All Act" has been introduced in the US House of Representatives. The description: "To amend the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 to provide assistance for developing countries to promote quality basic education and to establish the goal of all children in school and learning as an objective of the United States foreign assistance policy, and for other purposes." Despite 4481's noble goals, I do not support it: 4481 appears to be supporting an approach for other countries that has not worked in the US. The Premise HR ... more »
France And Its Stance Against The Symbolic Repression Of Women Through Dress
*- by Helen Klein* Reading *HuffPo* yesterday, an article written by Manuel Valls, Prime Minister of France, struck a chord. It should be a must read, especially for women. He wrote, In France, Women are Free, in response to the recent *NY Times* article, The Way People Look at Us Has Changed: Muslim Women on Life in Europe, by Lillie Dremeaux. Valls criticizes the perspective of this article, which he views as one sided, and he presents a coherent and well thought out defense of France’s position regarding the burqa. I found it courageous and heartening and a far different vers... more »
Seeing the 1980's in Stranger Things
The Netflix show *Stranger Things* takes place in autumn of 1983. The main protagonists are around twelve years old. As I watched it, the odd realization dawned on me that in autumn of 1983, I was twelve years old. I watched many of the episodes with my 14-year old daughter. I amused her when I had an epiphany that I actually owned one of the shirts that Mike wore. It was one of the most accurate depictions of the 1980's I've seen on television. There were some anachronisms here and there, but it was for the most part spot-on. Mike and his friends were a lot like me and my friend... more »
Did Chinese President Xi And Russian President Putin Humiliated President Obama At The G20?
YouTube *Anders Åslund, Real Clear Defense*: *How Xi and Putin Humiliated Obama at the G-20* On September 4-5, the G-20 held its annual summit in Hangzhou, China, President Xi Jinping’s home. G-20 summits tend to be meaningless, but this one appears to have been outright harmful. The signature event was when President Barack Obama’s Air Force One was not met with a staircase, and it went downhill from there. During the global financial crisis in 2008-9, when the main economies in the world needed to come together to reassure global markets, the G-20 was relevant. Ever since, G-20... more »
Why I Voted for Jeremy Corbyn
In last year's Labour leadership contest and after much shilly-shallying, my vote went to Yvette Cooper. This year there was no hesitation: I duly ticked the box for Jeremy Corbyn. The passage from the poster woman for "sensible" managerial politics to Corbynism might be puzzling for some, so here are my reasons. First off, it's partly a protest. *Partly*. Over the last year, my dismay has grown over into disgust at the behaviour of the PLP. Of course, it's *not all of the PLP*. A minority are doing the behind doors briefing, and complaining loudly every time Jeremy so much as pick... more »

Chet Raymo, "Starlight"
*"Starlight"* by Chet Raymo "Poor Calvin is overwhelmed with the vastness of the cosmos and no small dose of existential angst. He is not the first, of course. Most famously the 17th-century French philosopher Blaise Pascal wailed his own despair: "I feel engulfed in the infinite immensity of spaces whereof I know nothing and which know nothing of me. I am terrified...The eternal silence of these infinite spaces alarms me." And he didn't know the half of it. Not so long ago we imagined ourselves to be the be-all and end-all of creation, at the center of a cosmos made expressly for... more »

"Regret: The Weight of the Past"
*"Regret: The Weight of the Past"* by Madisyn Taylor, The DailyOM "Holding onto regret is like dragging the weight of the past with us everywhere we go. It drains our energy, leaving less available for life in the present because we are constantly feeding an old issue. This attachment can cause illness the same way watering a dead plant creates decay. We know that something new and beautiful can grow in its place if we only prepare the soil and plant the right seeds. We also know that we create our lives from our thoughts, so dwelling on the past may actually recreate a situation i... more »
"It All Boils Down To..."
"In a universe devoid of life, any life at all would be immensely meaningful. We ARE that meaning. "And what we see, "says the poet Mary Oliver, "is the world that cannot cherish us, but which we cherish." As though life itself is the great, universal, unrequited love of all time. But there is even more to this. Deep mystery. We are the universe aware of itself. We let the miracle get lost in distractions. On a planet so rich with living companions, much of humanity sentences itself to solitary confinement. Late at night, I used to lie in my boat listening to radio calls from ships... more »

Lies, Hate, and Bus Ads
This is the ad that the fetal gore gang is trying to force onto buses in Hinton and Grande Prairie, AB, after Peterborough, ON caved to their threats. Perhaps there are other cities targetted; we don't know. Note that this is a departure for them. This is the banner they dropped over a busy highway in Hamilton, ON. And here's the fuzzed-out-for-public-consumption sample of the postcards they stuffed in people's maiboxes. The bus ad is less gory, but no less lying hate propaganda. First, the images. Fake Clinic Update: Two Fewer In Canada, Irish Health Minister "Sickened"
Crisis pregnancy centres, aka fake clinics, are going through a bit of rough spot. We reported on Hinton's fake clinic being turned down for a community grant. They'll have to downsize as a result. In Campbell River, BC, the fake clinic closed down entirely in March. So did the fake clinic in Prince Edward County, Ontario. (From Facebook.) And charitable status revoked. Meanwhile in Ireland, another undercover investigation reveals that -- surprise! -- fake clinics there tell the same bullshit lies. But in ... more »
Can We Have Some Privacy? (Scott Horton and Tom Keenan)
*An excerpt from, "Privacy: Six Questions for Garret Keizer" by Scott Horton, Harper's Magazine, August 22, 2012: * I locate the idea of privacy—what Louis Brandeis called “the right to be let alone”—in our creaturely resistance to being interfered with, used, or penetrated against our will. For me, the roots of privacy are as much in our physical bodies as in our legal traditions, and I see those roots intertwined with the human capacity to resist. The fiercest kinds of resistance, be they personal or national, are always in response to forced occupation. It is no surprise that all... more »

The Hajj Has Lost Its Spiritual Value For Deep Thinking Muslims
Anger and controversy surrounded *last year's Hajj* when a stampede ended the lives of thousands of Muslim pilgrims. To make matters worse, the classless imbeciles in the Saudi government refused to apologize to the victims' families. Instead of owing up to their error, they blamed the victims, saying that they didn't follow the proper procedures that were in place. This year's Hajj is also not going well, and it hasn't even started. *Saudi Arabia's top cleric said* Iranians and Shiites are not Muslims but their "main enemies." Michelle Dunk: “Finding Refuge in the Extraordinary: Romantic Music as Fuel to Set the Soul on Fire”
Art and music are fuel for life. *“Romantic art is the fuel and the spark plug of a man’s soul. Its task is to set a soul on fire and never let it go out.”* Painist Michelle Dunk first became interested in classical music around the age of six. She calls it finding refuge in the extraordinary! *Even at the age of six, long before I could cognitively understand why I was drawn to this music, I was acutely aware that I was enthralled by this particular style… The power of music is a fascinating thing, and the experience of playing the piano is a profoundly personal and inti... more »
Iran’s mullahs are banning use of the word wine and names of foreign animals in books
In Persian lyric poetry “you can hardly find a sonnet that does not contain the wine, the bard and the beloved.” Hafiz, for example, was a 14th-century Persian poet who “lauded the joys of love and wine but also targeted religious hypocrisy.” Here for example: *Even though, to pious, drinking wine is a sin,Don't judge me; I use it as a bleach to wash the color of hypocrisy away. All that laughing and weeping of lovers must be coming from some other place; Here, all night I sing with my winecup and then moan for You all day.If someone were to ask Hafiz, "Why do you spend all... more »
Can The Rift Between Ashkenazi And Sephardic Jews Actually Lead To An Israeli Civil War?
Señor Trumpanzee doesn't really have a policy on Israel or anything else. That said, both the Democratic Party establishment and the Republican Party establishment are united in one thing: lockstep, unquestioning and unquestionable support for Israel's right-wing elites. Mis-Educative Technology and Human Capital Management: Part 1
by Jim Horn Those who are predicting the coming demise of high-stakes testing should be extremely concerned that the potential replacement of standardized tests, which are awful enough and have been used to demonize and sort underprivileged students for over a hundred years, may bring more ominous kinds of assessments that are ongoing, unending, and much more intrusive and damaging. The new assessments will happening every day, rather than once a year, and they are intended to amass tons of data on individual students that may be used for human profiling and more effective societa... more »
The Poet: Mary Oliver, "Coming Home"

If you look at the plight of the human race it could well tip you into despair, so you have to be very strong." - Robert James Brown
Poor Planning Lack Of Staff More Than Oil Dependency Reasons For Iraq’s Economic Woes
The rentier state and the Dutch Disease are two common theories used to describe the problems with Iraq’s economy. They are similar hypotheses that argue that the country’s oil dependency starves the rest of the economy and leads to authoritarianism. Bassam Yousif, an economics professor from Indiana State University had an alternative explanationpointing to bad state planning, lack of capacity in government institutions, and the decline of human capital since 1990s as the cause of the nation’s economic woes. The Dutch Disease and the rentier state are commonly used to explain th... more »

Stripper scandal outrageous
So Chiefs players have been “exonerated” of claims alleged against them by their Mad Monday stripper that they licked, groped, touched, and threw alcohol at her. My response: *Both this post and most of the comments following it (the uncritical ones) are all incompetent, dogmatic speculation (i.e., speculation within the limits of current scientific dogma), not science.* *The current scientific dogma, of course, is the assumption that the Earth, just like the life on it, developed through undirected evolution, throu... more »
Chen-Ning Yang against Chinese colliders
The plans to build the world's new greatest collider in China have many prominent supporters – including Shing-Tung Yau, Nima Arkani-Hamed, David Gross, Edward Witten – but SixthTone and South China Morning Post just informed us about a very prominent foe: Chen-Ning Yang, the more famous part of Lee-Yang and Yang-Mills. He is about 94 years old now but his brain is very active and his influence may even be enough to kill the project(s). The criticism is mainly framed as a criticism of CEPC (Circular Electron-Positron Collider), a 50-70-kilometer-long [by circumference] lepton ac... more »

*Mr. Johnson: Exit stage left. * *An excerpt from, "Murray Bookchin and the Kurdish resistance" By Joris Leverink, ROAR Magazine, August 9, 2015: * In 1999, Abdullah Öcalan — founder and leader of the PKK — became the subject of a diplomatic row between Turkey and Syria, from where he had been directing the PKK’s operations after having been forced to flee Turkey two decades earlier. Syria refused to house and protect the rebel leader any longer, leaving Öcalan with little choice but to leave the country in search of another refuge. Not long after, he was arrested in Kenya and ext... more »

Corporate Power, The GMO Issue And The Debasement Of 'Sound Science'
Cover page of Steven Druker's book Huffington Post Don't take free content on the web for granted. If you value what I do, please read *this* On Twitter last year, Monsanto VP Robb Fraley asked why people doubted science. He linked to an article in National Geographic that implied people who are suspicious of, among other things, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are confused, adhere to conspiracy theories or are misinformed as a result of access to the "university of Google." It is worth mentioning that science is not the giver of absolute truth. Science historian Thomas Kuhn w... more »

Vladimir Putin Escapes New World Order Assassination Attempt
Brave Vladimir Putin was the subject of a failed assassination attempt in Moscow as the New World Order attempted to silence their most formidable enemy. Putin’s favorite driver was killed instantly after a Mercedes crossed from the other side of the road without warning and struck the Russian President’s official car head-on. The deadly collision occurred just before President Putin was due to fly to China for the G20 summit where he has had meetings with various world leaders, including Theresa May, US President Barack Obama and Chinese president Xi Jinping. The Need for September - and recent events...
Hi, been absent from the blog for a few days. Spent about 5 days with a 102 F (39C) fever. I had no congestion, no stomach issues and my mind stayed quite clear during the ordeal. I think its related to the amount of energies that have been flowing thru me, particularly after the August 25th doing when every star gate there was to this planet was opened and the Galactics and the trio of pure love frequency formless beings sent pure love to humanity. No doubt many of you are feeling the upkick in frequency that flows very rapidly now. Much has shifted, and it clearly rattled ... more »
Rodrigo Duterte, Donald Trump-- Separated At Birth?
I've been saying for some time now that to grasp what a Trumpanzee presidency would be like it's important to just go beyond Mussolini, Hitler and even Putin. I've suggested looking at how quickly Turkish autocrat Recep Tayyip Erdoğan moved to consolidate power in the aftermath of a half-assed coup attempt-- seizing control of the media, the judiciary, the army and any other institution that could be the source of dissent. Over 60,000 people have been detained or suspended from military units (including 40% of the country's generals), the judiciary, universities, newspapers and t... more »
Outrage As California Announce Segregation Of Black Students
Universities across California are implementing a controversial segregation policy, separating black students from everybody else, in an attempt to be “politically correct”. California State University Los Angeles has become the latest institution to offer segregated housing for black students. Surprisingly, the move comes in response to the Black Student Union insisting that the University meet a set of demands to deal with “microaggressions” by fellow professors and students on campus. One such demand was for a “CSLA housing space” for black students. Thecollegefix.com reports: “... more »
Privatizing the Kill List
Facing a shortage in credentialed military personnel, the Obama administration is outsourcing part of its drone assassination program to unaccountable corporations. What could possibly go wrong? According to the government, nothing much. You see, the private contractors operating the drones aren't actually allowed to pull the trigger on the "militants" (defined by the CIA as all males in "tribal areas" in the primes of their lives) whom they are tasked with suspecting and surveilling and identifying as bad guys. From the *New York Times*: * But there is no limit on the type of re... more »
