Lester Holt Told the First Big Lie-- A Guest Post By Sam Husseini

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 31 minutes ago
Before the faceoff between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton, many were pleading that Lester Holt, the NBC anchor and moderator Monday night, to be a “fact checker.” Any delusions in that regard should have been dashed right away as he perpetrated a root falsehood at the very start of the event. Holt claimed that the event was “sponsored by the Commission on Presidential Debates, a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. The commission drafted tonight’s format, and the rules have been agreed to by the campaigns.” While the CPD certainly controls much of the event, it’s not a “nonpar... more »

Observations from Penny Dreadful Cthulhu Character Generation

Daniel Stack at 19th Level - 55 minutes ago
As a reminder, Penny Dreadful Cthulhu = Pulp Cthulhu By Gaslight. Given that the Penny Dreadfuls were the forerunners to the later Pulps, it's not a particularly large leap. This week we kicked off character generation. Here's who we have so far: - A noble whose older brother has the seat in the House of Lords and whose parents were killed about ten years ago by criminals. - The noble's valet. He served the noble's father. Dad was a diplomat and the valet was actually a spy in the Great Game. Valet now secretly seeks vengeance on the criminal element for killing h... more »

"If the sun is shining, stand in it- yes, yes, yes. Happy times are great, but happy times pass- they have to- because time passes. The pursuit of happiness is more elusive; it is life-long, and it is not goal-centered. What you are pursuing is meaning- a meaningful life... There are times when it will go so wrong that you will be barely alive, and times when you realize that being barely alive, on your own terms, is better than living a bloated half-life on someone else's terms." - Jeanette Winterson

Aspects of the Indian-Pakistani (so far) miniwar

The British Empire has been in charge of the British India for some time. In 1947, that territory declared their independence and new countries, Pakistan and India, were created. Has Chelsea Clinton let the ‘cat out of the bag’? The Trump advisers' analysis is truly disappointing (though perhaps not surprisingly so, given what the candidate has said over the course of the campaign). Their analysis of trade deficits, starting on page 18, boils down to the following: We know that GDP=C+I+G+NX. NX is negative (the trade deficit). Therefore, if we somehow renegotiate trade deals and make NX rise to zero, GDP goes up! They... more »

A good piece of sleuthing here. What it clearly explains is that peoples in the form of tribes or even bands took petroglyphs to denote their group. That led easily to marked stones to establish common boundaries. This is simple and even obvious. Here it goes one whole step further in the form of a map and land ownership. That groups migrated all over is scant surprise either as that entails meet and greet and passing through until you possibly found a stretch of unoccupied country with welcoming neighbors. Such units would not be seen as a threat so much as a fresh ally again... more »

Study Finds a Key to Nerve Regeneration

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 21 hours ago
This is rather good news and quite unexpected. Now we actually know what to turn on. We will end the wheelchair yet. It even appears to have intelligent guidance while it is doing all this and that makes physiotherapy much more productive. i have been waiting for this type of understanding for decades. It is the important medical problem. After all almost all physical damage can be often as not be correctly healed in the majority of cases. It is only when nerves are damaged that this is not true. It even sounds amenable to simple application.. . *Study Finds a Key to Ner... more »

Guelph readies to become the Silicon Valley for agriculture and food

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 21 hours ago
It is a nice thought except the cycle from discovery to implementation in agriculture is naturally decades even. That was why i was so happy to discover that the Amazonian Indians had applied an elemental carbon protocol to their soils for three thousand years. I had understood the likely efficiency of bio-char a full fifteen years earlier and set it aside because it could not be realistically pursued. The Indians had actually solved that problem. Recall that a lot of research does take a lifetime. Few can pay that price. Yet there are few universities better situated and ... more »

Scientists Make Major Discovery While Studying The Brain On No Sleep

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 21 hours ago
We are starting to develop better resolution in understanding sleep. No useful take home here as yet unfortunately though i keep hoping. My own experience has included several extremes and those are never fun. Certainly the best advice to all is to insist on a disciplined tight sleep schedule if you are engaged in optimizing mental activity as in writing exams. I would now do that by engaging in meditation just before sleeping in order to drop down a zone. all good. *.* *Scientists Make Major Discovery While Studying The Brain On No Sleep* * This is WAY more complex than anyo... more »

Poker Pro Claims Hillary Sent Hand Signals To Debate Moderator

Baxter Dmitry at Your News Wire - 21 hours ago
Poker pro Mike Matusow claims Hillary Clinton and debate moderator Lester Holt were secretly communicating with each other using specialist hand signals during the debate on Monday night. At key moments during the debate Clinton can be seen rubbing her face in a manner similar to a third base baseball coach. It is claimed Lester Holt interrupted Donald Trump and gave Clinton the floor after receiving these signals, suggesting there was a pre-arranged communication system in place. Analysts have dismissed the idea that Clinton’s repeated face rubbing movement could simply be a nerv... more »

"A Look to the Heavens"

"What's happening in the Statue of Liberty nebula? Bright stars and interesting molecules are forming and being liberated. The complex nebula resides in the star forming region called RCW 57. This image showcases dense knots of dark interstellar dust, bright stars that have formed in the past few million years, fields of glowing hydrogen gas ionized by these stars, and great loops of gas expelled by dying stars. *Click image for larger size.* A detailed study of NGC 3576, also known as NGC 3582 and NGC 3584, uncovered at least 33 massive stars in the end stages of formation, and the ... more »

*“The Universe Becomes Conscious of Itself” * by Chet Raymo "By now most of us will have seen this spectacular photograph of a dusty star-birthing region of the Carina Nebula, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Hubble Space Telescope. I offer a slightly different cropping from what you may have seen in the media or on APOD. Please click the image to see it it all of its glory. Let me add some context. The image shows an area of the sky that you could cover with the intersection of two crossed sewing pins held at arms length. Think about that for a minute. Hold two imaginary cr...more »

"Hold Your Head Up..."

noreply@blogger.com (Coyote Prime) at Running 'Cause I Can't Fly - 23 hours ago
"I want you to always hold your head up and follow your dreams wherever they take you. Don't you ever listen to the people out to hurt you or make you cry. Listen to your heart and be better than them. No one gets ahead by hurting others. The only real peace anyone will ever have is the one that comes from within. Live your life on your own terms and make it a happy life. Always. That's what's important.” - Sherrilyn Kenyon

Almost home

Hun hadde reist helt fra Brønnøysu... more »

Rather than Indulging the Reparations Racket, Why Not Abolish Enslavement to the State?

William N. Grigg at Pro Libertate - 1 day ago
Forty-five years have elapsed since the passing of Sylvester McGee, the last black American citizen who had been claimed by another American as property. Eighty-one years have elapsed since the death of Cudjoe Lewis, the last black American who had been born in Africa, captured by African slave traders, survived the often fatal middle passage in a slave ship, then vended to people who claimed him as property. No living American for at least two generations has lived under the long-dead and universally reviled system of chattel slavery. No living American has ever been a slave o... more »
