http://www.examiner.com/environmental-policy-in-national/environmentalists-want-interior-secretary-ken-salazar-out
On June 14, a letter, spearheaded by WildEarth Guardians, and signed by hundreds of conservationists and scientists, was sent to the White House, calling for Ken Salazar’s resignation.
“Mr. Salazar’s failure to clean up Interior is why we’re seeing the mess in the Gulf. We need serious mopping up within this department, and it should start with Salazar leaving,” said Nicole Rosmarino of WildEarth Guardians.
The environmentalist’s letter describes details of how Salazar has failed to live up to his tough talk of being the “new sheriff in town”. He has been totally ineffectual in cleaning up the corruption in multiple agencies within the department. But environmentalists are not the only ones unimpressed with Salazar’s record.
Former Secretary of Interior Bruce Babbitt has been extremely critical of Salazar’s plan to reform MMS and agrees that it doesn’t go far enough.
Babbitt likened it to “rearranging the chairs on the deck of the Titanic” and said oversight of oil industry regulations should be shifted to the EPA.

Pakistan Exercise: Military War Games Near India Border
India Causes Fresh Pakistan Floods
While Pakistani foreign minister and his government were busy accepting Indian aid for Pakistani flood victims, New Delhi released a massive 18,000 cusec feet of water from a dam in Indian-occupied Kashmir into Pakistan, prompting fresh fears of floods in the plains of Punjab and Sindh.
No commentWho Really Controls Shahbaz Air Base?
Pakistan Air Force arranged a hurriedly organized media tour yesterday to prove that the base is not under US control. But this does not appear to be the whole truth.According GlobalSecurity.org, Pakistani newspaper Daily Times claimed on 10 March 2004 that the airbase was under US control, “with an inner ring of facilities off-limits to Pakistan's military,” according to the paper. But in August 2010, there is credible information that new special residential barracks for US personnel have been constructed. Unfortunately, Pakistan has accepted to house US personnel who will ensure the country’s doesn’t ‘misuse’ the new F-16s. So despite PAF’s – and US Embassy’s – sharp reaction, it is clear there is some merit to the statement of Federal Health Secretary Kamran Lashari that US presence at the base is preventing using the base for flood relief operations.

While the world’s rich dole out money to help Pakistan’s flood victims, Pakistan’s filthy rich politicians refuse to budge. See who is paying what.

These politicians have no idea as to how to solve the problems of the country. Moreover, these secular democrats have no popular domestic support and are dependent upon the patronage of their Western masters.

It’s not as if the clouds dodged borders and focused on Pakistan only. Pakistan’s water flows from Indian-occupied Kashmir and from US-occupied Afghanistan. A natural deluge should have shown some spillover effect into Indian and Afghan regions adjoining Pakistan. It is interesting that a second and a third wave of floods is expected in Pakistan when there’s no rain to justify it. Where is the water coming from? Here’s a perspective by Mr. Zaid Hamid, a security analyst at BrassTacks, and Ms. Gulpari Mehsud, a researcher at PakNationalists.com.

Mountains of concrete: Dam building in the Himalayas - A report by International Rivers
http://www.indiawaterportal.org/node/12126
A review of existing evidence and the arguments raised by a number of experts highlight the following points:
* There is very little evidence to establish that big dams are the only, the best or the optimal solution to the electricity question.
* While these projects will undoubtedly generate many thousands of units of electricity, it does not mean that they will help improve access to power for the poor and the vulnerable sections of society.
* The high cost of these projects, their long distances from load centres, the increasing need for privatisation of these projects and the incentives and tax breaks being offered to attract private companies, are all likely to result in high costs of electricity, which will only benefit the sections of society with a high paying capacity.
* These projects are likely to have huge social, environmental and cultural impacts, which will be especially harsh on locals, tribal people, farmers and others living in the remote valleys of the Himalayas.
* The downstream impacts of the proposed projects will also be serious, and will be felt in areas from just downstream of the projects all the way to the plains and the deltas.
* Experts have also been concerned about the cumulative impacts of what is likely to be the highest concentration of dams in the world, in a region that is ecologically fragile.
* Many have raised concerns about the way in which the decisions for the construction of the dams have been taken without taking into consideration the views of the people who will be most affected by the dams. Similarly, social, environmental and cultural issues have not been given any considerations in the decision-making processes.India Expected To Raise Tension With Pakistan During Commonwealth Games
Pakistani analysts are worried that New Delhi might resort to false flag operations or a mock terror threat to sidetrack media attention from the mess surrounding the games. In all probability, India could use one of the many Hindu terror groups to mount attacks that would be blamed on Pakistan. India has seen a mushrooming of Hindu terror groups over the past decade.

The general designations of the ranking system for world status date back to the 1950s, and have included countries at various stages of economic development. Since the Cold War, the definition has come to be synonymous with repressive countries where a wealthy class of ruling elites segment society into the haves and have-nots, many times capitalizing on the conditions that follow an economic crisis or war.

Of Motes, Beams, and Holy Wars
http://freedominourtime.blogspot.com/2010/08/of-motes-beams-and-holy-wars.html
A lawsuit filed in late 2008 by the Thomas More Law Center on behalf of Iraq War veteran Kevin J. Murray accuses the federal government (particularly Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors) of violating Madison's "three pence" standard by indirectly financing "Sharia-Compliant" investments by way of the American International Group (AIG).
How can it be an unendurable affront to be forced to surrender "three pence" to promote Sharia-compliant investments, when the Regime ruling us has spent three trillion (and counting) to impose Sharia law at gunpoint?
Obama Demands Access to Internet Records, in Secret, and Without Court Review
http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=31795
Under cover of coughing-up information deemed relevant to espionage or terrorism investigations, proposed changes to the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA) would greatly expand the volume of private records that can be seized through National Security Letters (NSLs).
Constitution-shredding lettres de cachet, NSLs are administrative subpoenas that can be executed by agencies such as the FBI, CIA or Defense Department, solely on the say so of supervisory agents.
The noxious warrants are not subject to court review, nor can a recipient even disclose they have received one. Because of their secretive nature, they are extremely difficult to challenge.
Issued by unaccountable Executive Branch agents hiding behind a façade of top secret classifications and much-ballyhooed "sources and methods," NSLs clearly violate our constitutional rights.
The fourth amendment unambiguously states: "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
However, in "new normal" America constitutional guarantees and civil rights are mere technicalities, cynical propaganda exercises jettisoned under the flimsiest of pretexts: the endless "War on Terror" where the corporate state's praetorian guards work the "dark side."
Once served, firms such as telecommunication providers, banks, credit card companies, airlines, health insurers, video rental services, even booksellers and libraries, are compelled to turn over what the secret state deem relevant records on targets of FBI fishing expeditions.
If burdensome NSL restrictions are breeched for any reason, that person can be fined or even jailed if gag orders built into the draconian USA Patriot Act are violated.
However, even the Patriot Act's abysmally lowered threshold for seizing private records specify that NSLs cannot be issued "solely on the basis of activities protected by the first amendment of the Constitution of the United States."
Despite these loose standards, congressional investigators, journalists and civil liberties watchdogs found that the FBI violated the rules of the road, such as they are, thousands of times. Between 2003-2006, the Bureau issued 192,499 NSLs, according to current estimates, the FBI continues to hand out tens of thousands more each year.
The Hidden Tragedy of the CIA's Experiments on Children
http://www.truth-out.org/the-hidden-tragedy-cias-experiments-children62208
Here it should be noted that, during the cold war years, CIA and Army Counter-Intelligence Corps (CIC) interrogators, working as part of projects Bluebird and Artichoke, sometimes injected large amounts of Metrazol into selected enemy or Communist agents for the purposes of severely frightening other suspected agents, by forcing them to observe the procedure. The almost immediate effects of Metrazol are shocking for many to witness: subjects will shake violently, twisting and turning. They typically arch, jerk and contort their bodies and grimace in pain. With Metrazol, as with electroshock, bone fractures - including broken necks and backs - and joint dislocations are not uncommon, unless strong sedatives are administered beforehand.
A November 1936 Time magazine article seriously questioned the benefits of Metrazol, citing "irreversible shock" as a "great danger." The article described a typical Metrazol injection as such: "A patient receives no food for four or five hours. Then about five cubic centimeters of the drug [Metrazol] are injected into his veins. In about half-a-minute he coughs, casts terrified glances around the room, twitches violently, utters a horse wail, freezes into rigidity with his mouth wide open, arms and legs stiff as boards. Then he goes into convulsions. In one or two minutes the convulsions are over and he gradually passes into a coma, which lasts about an hour. After a series of shocks, his mind may be swept clean of delusions.... A patient is seldom given more than 20 injections and if no improvement is noted after ten treatments, he is usually given up as hopeless."
The Untold History of Controlling the Masses Through the Manipulation of Unconscious Desires
http://www.informationliberation.com/?id=8339
The story of the relationship between Sigmund Freud and his American nephew, Edward Bernays. Bernays invented the public relations profession in the 1920s and was the first person to take Freud's ideas to manipulate the masses. He showed American corporations how they could make people want things they didn't need by systematically linking mass-produced goods to their unconscious desires.
Bernays was one of the main architects of the modern techniques of mass-consumer persuasion, using every trick in the book, from celebrity endorsement and outrageous PR stunts, to eroticising the motorcar.
His most notorious coup was breaking the taboo on women smoking by persuading them that cigarettes were a symbol of independence and freedom. But Bernays was convinced that this was more than just a way of selling consumer goods. It was a new political idea of how to control the masses. By satisfying the inner irrational desires that his uncle had identified, people could be made happy and thus docile.
It was the start of the all-consuming self which has come to dominate today's world.

When we speak of the Grand Canyon, we refer to not only the Canyon itself, but also include the vast and surrounding areas such as the Colorado River Drainage Basin and it’s ecosystem, a vital source of water to wildlife and millions of people, numerous wildlife refuges, surrounding designated park and wildlife areas, communities, and cities. The fate of millions of lives are dependent upon and affected by all that happens in and around the Grand Canyon ~ the fate of these lives is in our hands.
