Massive Social Security COLA Boost May Accelerate Trust’s Depletion
*Ethen Kim Lieser* *Social Security, United States* The meager annual Social Security increases over the past decades have done little to keep pace with fast-rising costs of goods and services Roughly seventy million Americans who rely on Social Security benefits got what they desperately wanted this week—as it was announced that there will be a 5.9 percent cost of living adjustment (COLA) for 2022. That massive increase, the biggest bump seen in nearly forty years, is expected to boost retirees’ monthly payments by approximately $90 to an estimated average of $1,657. A typical c... read more

The Great National Showdown Over Worker Mandates For The COVID Vaccine Looms – Don’t Flinch
Before getting into the weeds on a CBS article warning of a “Looming Showdown” amid large numbers of critical workers who are refusing the mandated vaccination, it is worth setting up the accurate context for the details inside the discussion. There are 205 million legally eligible U.S. workers between 15 and 74-years-old (census figures) with […] The post The Great National Showdown Over Worker Mandates For The COVID Vaccine Looms – Don’t Flinch appeared first on The Last Refuge. read more

* Polar bears could vanish by the end of the century, scientists predict* * This old chestnut again. Warmists have been desperate to find the bears in trouble but their overall numbers have in fact been increasing* Arctic sea ice has been steadily decreasing since the beginning of satellite records in 1979, but a new study comes with a chilling (or perhaps, warming) prediction: By the end of this century, Arctic sea ice may disappear during the summer, which could drive polar bears and other ice-dependent species to extinction. The "Last Ice Area" is a region containing the oldest... read more

The Covid Care Alliance on Unvaccinated Risk
Recently the Covid Care Alliance posted a video about informed consent and asked what is my risk from Covid 19? It reiterated that the risk of dying from Covid increases with age and that the risk of dying from Covid for those under the age of 30 is insignificant. It then talked about the benefit of the vaccine whereupon it states that the risk of contracting Covid without the vaccine is amazingly low - 0.88%. The vaccine reduces the risk of contracting Covid to 0.04%. The Hodge Twins pointed out using CNN numbers, the survival rate for the unvaccinated is 99.974 making this whole... read more

Special Operations Command to Test Fire Sneaky Laser Weapon on AC-130J Ghostrider Gunship
*Sebastien Roblin* *C-130, United States* It may be fun to imagine a brilliant beam of light lancing forth from the 1950s-era C-130 Hercules transportation airplane accompanied by an appropriate “pew-pew” sound. But that does not reflect reality. The Special Operations Command’s AC-130J Ghostrider gunship aircraft are set to test a truly ghostly new weapon: a phantasmal laser that can burn holes into targets from a distance without creating a sound or visible beam, nor leaving any evidence of the assailant. On October 6, Lockheed Martin announced it had completed factory testing ... read more

And So it Begins: NYC Judge Rules Father Cannot Visit 3-Year-Old Daughter Unless Vaccinated
A judge in New York City has blocked a father’s right to see his three-year-old daughter unless he agrees to take the COVID-19 vaccine. Yes, really. In early September, Evan Schein, an attorney acting on behalf of the mother in the couple’s divorce case (the family has not been named), raised concerns about the father’s vaccination status, leading high profile judge Judge Matthew Cooper to suspend his visitation rights until he received the jab. America: Land of the Slaves and Home of the Cowards – The Entitlement Majority Call Themselves “Victims”
Francis Scott Key penned the words to the song "The Star-Spangled Banner" in the 1800s that would go on to become the "National Anthem" of the United States, and it ends with the words: "The land of the free, and the home of the brave." I am not sure these words have ever been a true description of life in the United States, but today, here in 2021, those words should read: "The land of the slaves, and the home of the cowards." I never thought I would live to see the day where most Americans would willingly choose slavery over freedom, and then when their choices did not work out... read more

The Freedom to Swing One's Fist
There's a common saying that "your freedom to swing your fist ends at my nose". This is a pretty good way to express the fact that we must have limits on our freedoms, but it seems to me in this age of radically selfish rights-talk, it doesn't quite get through. After all, the radical egoist will say, "Why should I care about your nose? I don't care at all about anyone else's rights; it's MY rights that matter, and I insist upon!" So I've been thinking a better way to approach it is to put it this way: You have 100 points to spend on freedoms, and you have two freedoms h... read more
