Notes on a World Without Trump
Gaius Publius, DownWithTyranny! - 7 hours ago
*by Thomas Neuburger* I’m working on a book-length project that includes a look at our soon-to-be post-Trump world. These are preliminary notes for that part of the project. *1. The World Without Trump won’t be a world without Trump*. (For the exception, see below.) Trump will not go away. He'll persist as a pest that’s driven from the desk but not from the room he’s in. His most likely course of action is to go loudly into that good night, keep frothing and fomenting his base, selling his products and shtick, cashing his caché as former U.S. president, and roiling the Democra...

(Al Hurra) October 25 marked another anniversary for the protest movement when major demonstrations and clashes broke out across Baghdad and the south. People came out into the streets in Baghdad, Babil, Basra, Dhi Qar, Diwaniya, Karbala, Maysan, Muthanna, Najaf and Wasit. Basra and Dhi Qar saw large and well organized protests. An amazing woman, Amy Coney Barrett

I knew a lot of amazing women when I was growing up. My grandmothers and aunts (Bessie, Leanor, Marian, Gladys, Lois, Dorothy, Muriel, Mary) mothers of friends (Esther, Millie, Rita, Rosalie, Ada, Hazel, Lois, Vivian and others with faces in my memory, but not their names). School teachers, nurses, businesses owners, farmers) and the mothers who were there for us when we burst through the door after school. Stealing An Election
Owen Gray, Northern Reflections - 14 hours ago
Robin Sears writes it's hard to steal an election in Canada because we maintain a paper record of every ballot, plus the ballots themselves, electronically counted or not. We have national systems and regulations which are rigorously followed by a centrally trained set of election officers. We also gave up long ago on any role for the parties in local electoral administration. South of the border, it's a different story: The foundational weakness in the American system is that electoral administration remains in partisan control at the local and state levels. In some cases, it is...
The Roots of Ancient Greek Culture

"What is Plato but Moses speaking Attic Greek?” — this is the famous statement of Numenius, the second century CE Greek philosopher who lived in the Roman City of Apamea. Around three centuries before Numenius, Aristobulus (181–124 B.C.E.), the Hellenistic Jewish philosopher of the Peripatetic school who lived in Alexandria, argued that the essentials of Greek philosophy and mythology were derived from Jewish and other ancient resources. He held that not only Plato and Aristotle but also the oldest Greek thinkers like Homer, Hesiod, and Orpheus owed an intellectual debt to Judaism a...

Kyle Mizokami, The National Interest - 13 hours ago
*Kyle Mizokami* *Security, * While it may not achieve the market longevity of similar guns such as the Browning Buckmark, the M&P Compact 22 is a handsome, sporty alternative to many small caliber target pistols. *Key Point*: The M&P Compact 22 is an excellent choice for existing M&P Compact owners or those looking for a reliable .22 firearm. One of the most useful things to have in firearms training is a handgun with the look and feel of a full-sized pistol while chambered for the low recoil .22 caliber round. The Smith & Wesson M&P 22 Compact pistol is nearly identical to a fu...

* Trump Explains the Middle East Peace deal in terms of energy independence* In the debate last night, President Trump finally talked about the most important impact of his energy policy. Energy independence means much more than low prices at the gas pump and on your utility bill. The widespread use of natural gas is also great for the environment and has lowered our carbon emissions. These are both great outcomes but they don’t hold a candle to the impact on foreign policy. In ten seconds, President Trump gives the money quote: “We are energy independent for the first time. We do...

IF BIDEN WINS, TRUMP AND HIS BASE WILL BEGIN TO BELIEVE IN THE PANDEMIC
Steve M., No More Mister Nice Blog - 15 hours ago
President Trump thinks the pandemic is nearly over. “We are coming around, we’re rounding the turn, we have the vaccines, we have everything,” Trump said at a rally in Londonderry, N.H., on Sunday. “Even without the vaccines, we’re rounding the turn. It’s going to be over.” He says this amid a surge of infections in the U.S. and an outbreak in his vice president's office. None of this has changed his message. His own infection didn't change his message: *The virus isn't so bad. It doesn't cause serious consequences for most people. It will disappear soon on its own. Vaccines will b...
