Joel Wing, MUSINGS ON IRAQ - 11 hours ago

Only the following weeks will tell. There were a total of 19 security incidents reported in Iraq from October 1-7. That was down from 28 the last full week of September, 32 the week before t...

Jacob Heilbrunn, The National Interest - 10 hours ago
*Jacob Heilbrunn* *Amy Cohen Barrett, * From the author: "The hearing will serve as a form of war by other means, at least for a week, as Republicans and Democrats blast each other. Ever since the abortive nomination of Robert Bork in 1987, confirmation hearings have taken on an increasingly vituperative cast. Barrett is merely a proxy for the latest Washington culture war over the 2020 election. Her nomination has injected an extra dose of rocket fuel into an already scorching political race." For Republicans such as Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell, the chance to elevate...
