July 9: Call it a bad mood.
The front page, must-read story is that Syrian women will be selling homemade Syrian food at local farmers' markets. I'm glad to hear it. I 'll certainly buy some. But this is surely not the biggest possible story of the day for Moncton. Actually, if you read the rest of section A, it is the biggest story of the day. The next biggest is that people are just going ape over public transport. The story tells us ridership rose by 22 percent in 2014. (Of course, that 22 percent rise in 2014 might have something to do with the fact the system was locked out for six months in 2013. Of co... more »
Lockheed Martin Threatens Canada, (Again) If Ottawa Does Not Buy The F-35
The change of government will likely see Canada pull out of the F-35 joint Strike Fighter Program, driving up costs for other countries. Reuters/Chris Wattie *Flight Global*: *Lockheed warns of industrial impact if Canada ditches F-35* Lockheed Martin may decide to move the industrial participation that Canada currently benefits from on the F-35 to another programme partner if Ottawa decides against acquiring the Lightning II, the company says... more »
Millennials Conitnue To Show An Interest In Joining The U.S. Military
*Military Times:* *The Pentagon keeps data on millennials. This is what it says* Young Americans continue to show steady interest in military service despite the improved economy and fading sense of patriotic duty that can be traced directly to 9/11, according to an analysis of Defense Department data conducted by Military Times. In fact, internal Pentagon polls that track public opinion among the military’s target demographics — young men, in particular — show that today’s so-called millennial generation is not much different than its predecessors. “What attracts even the mille... more »
TPP: It’s The Fast-Lame-Duck Passage & Evasion Of Accountability To Voters – Stupid!
*Prequel: During the debate at the Democratic Platform Committee this morning, Ben Jealous warned that weak TPP language-- ironically offered by Lee Saunders of AFSCME-- will empower Trump. "We have from good authority," he said, "that the draft GOP platform opposes the TPP." He was joined by Nina Turner and Cornel West as the main spokespeople for a strong anti-TPP plank. The Hillary and Wasserman Schultz-nominated delegates saw to it that Ben Jealous' anti-TPP amendment failed, 106-74, while Bernie delegates yelled "Shame!" and the Clinton delegates congratulated each other. Excellent New Article From John Kaminski: Show Me!
I am still following the information that is coming out of the alternative media and from my fellow friends and colleagues in the real "truth movement" about the latest false flag shooting in Dallas Texas... Yes, it does appear that at this one, or so it seems, we have some real deaths including possibly as many as 5 Dallas police officers.... I am still looking at the evidence and trying to put the pieces together before I call this any type of set up or hoax, and I do have some reports at this blog coming very soon..... One thing of note of course is the fact that apparently this ... more »
Taking On The Stupid Trolls
First off; my apologies for the formatting. "Blogger" decided to frame everything in white and didn't want to change the margins for quotes. Whatever. Secondly; I started this post a while ago and at first I didn't want to identify Davis Aurini by name and therefore referred to him as "the writer" but it's become tiresome. So at some point you'll notice I stopped doing that. Third; As you know, I've pretty much given up on blogging. It doesn't really accomplish anything and I don't expect that this post will accomplish anything either. It's also the case that I've investigated the ... more »
Clinton cheerleaders claiming she isn't in the corporate charter camp?

And there’s no telling what Trump will do about education, but it’s a safe bet that it will be huge, it will be business oriented, and that it will involve blustery hair-brained ignorance.” — Peter Greene* It's a tough time to be a public education advocate. Hangingstone
Having a pretty productive day yesterday as far as tackling my list of errands, I jumped at the opportunity to head out early this morning with one of my tenants who wanted to do a little fishing at a small pond just off the highway south of town. I haven't fished in a few years but I grabbed my binoculars and tagged along for some fresh air and to see what birds might catch my eye. It was pretty overcast and muggy and the mosquitos were rather annoying at times but I did spot a grey jay before I even got out of the truck. It's been three or four years since one has graced my year... more »

Republicans Sneaking Their Misogynist Ideology Into Appropriations Bills-- The War On Women Continues
The Trump-supporting clown who replaced Boehner as Speaker of the House was, as we all know, dedicated ideologue Paul Ryan. A bigger joke, Warren Davidson, replace Boehner as the Representative from Ohio's 8th congressional district. He introduced his first amendment to a bill-- an appropriations bill as it turns out-- Wednesday. And, as pig-headed and stupid as anyone would have expected from Davidson, it passed, 217 to 203, although with virtually every Democrat and two dozen Republicans voting against it. Davidson's amendment, part of the Republican Party War On Women, seeks to... more »

"Governments Change, the Corporatocracy Endures"
*"Governments Change, the Corporatocracy Endures"* By Charles Hugh Smith "Ultimately, the dominance of global capital (the Corporatocracy) is not financial- it's political. One little-remarked consequence of the central banks' policies of near-zero interest rates and quantitative easing is the unrivaled dominance of mobile global capital, i.e. the Corporatocracy. The source of corporate political power is the ability to borrow essentially unlimited sums for next to nothing: what I have long termed free money for financiers. Armed with central-bank supplied unlimited credit, global ... more »
"Ignorance Is Bliss..."
"Every civilization in the history of man is made up of a small group of ruling elitists and a larger group of subordinate workers. It’s interesting to note that the small ruling elite does not argue this fact, and yet, the larger mass group of workers do. Ignorance is bliss for only as long as ignorance is an option. Ignorance ceases to be an option for each of us at different times in our lives." – JC Collins
"The Game Is Rigged"
*"What the Elite Really Think of You"* by Michael Covel "The global elites think you’re ignorant. That’s not my opinion. It comes straight from them. In this case, it’s from self-important James Traub, a Harvard graduate from the family that owns the Bloomingdale’s chain of luxury department stores. Here’s what Traub said: "It's time for the elites to rise up against the ignorant masses." That says it all. His statement provides a key insight into the beliefs of the “ruling class.” You need to understand how they think and act if you want to avoid living as a slave. This guy is an ... more »

Andrea Leadsom and Tory Decadence
"In truth @andrealeadsom better suited to obscurity than high office" so tweeted backbench Tory Sarah Wollaston this morning. And I for one find it hard to disagree. Since Leadsom was touted as a potential leader in the early days of the referendum campaign, I've watched her rise to media prominence and for the life of me couldn't discern anything special about her. A pantomime Thatcher at best who could repeat her lines, but without the conviction and drive the aforementioned possessed. Then at one of the referendum debates, I forget which one, she prefaced her remarks about some ... more »

Is Trump Really Getting A Concise, Definitive Message Out To Voters... Beyond Just, "I'm A Racist?"
Not having ever watched an episode of Trump's TV sit-com, I started examining his 4th grade vocabulary and his manipulative/infantile way of addressing audiences last year. During the Republican debates he understood the audience better than his opponents and spoke at a 3rd or 4th grade level, according to the Flesch-Kincaid grade-level test. His comments from an August 11 news conference in Michigan earned only a 3rd-grade score. Flattening the English language whenever he speaks without a script, Trump relies heavily on words such as “very” and “great,” and the pronouns “we” an... more »

Apart from minimal slash and burn activities to support subsistence agriculture, the primordial terrestrial and wetland ecosystems of the Caicos Islands, within the Turks and Caicos Islands (TCI), have been left largely intact. The same is true of the marine ecosystems of TCI, which were used only for small-scale artisanal fisheries for much of the country’s history. Such circumstances are a rarity in the world. Plenty Of Blame To Go Around
There is a long history of race hatred in the United States. Last week added a particularly horrific chapter to that history. Most tragically, the party which was born out of opposition to that history has become its modern home. Paul Krugman writes: To put it bluntly, the modern Republican Party is in essence a machine designed to deliver high after-tax incomes to the 1 percent. Look at [Paul] Ryan: Has he ever shown any willingness, for any reason, to make the rich pay so much as a dime more in taxes? Comforting the very comfortable is what it’s all about. The article below is dated today, Friday, July 8, 2016. You Americans who get your news from the lying “mainstream media” are missing the most important things you urgently need to understand, most importantly nuclear war that could kill us all. Lie #1: Russia attacked Ukraine. Wrong! She did not. Fact #1: The legitimate president of Ukraine was overthrown by a mob organized by Victoria Nuland (who may become Hillary’s vice president). Lie #2: Russia did NOT “seize” the Crimea. Rather, over 90% of its inhabitants agreed to RE-JOIN Russia after learning of Nuland’s neoNazi stormtroopers burning to death dozens of Russian-speakers who had been peacefully demonstrating in the town of Odessa …not far from Crimea. [N.B. Many Russian's ancestors lived in Crimea from 1783 to 1954, when it was transferred to Ukraine by the Soviet government.] For a quick rehash ca. Feb 2015, go here:

Train teachers like doctors? Maybe.
Yet another editorial in a line of editorials over the years comparing physicians and medical education to that of teachers. Clinton Departs from Obama's ED Policies? Nah
Dana Goldstein, journo-ed historian for the corporate foundations, covered the Clinton speech at the NEA Convention last Tuesday. She was there to find reason to spin a story up that would present Hillary Clinton as a presidential candidate determined to break from Obama-Duncan policies that have run public education into the ditch and left the teaching profession demolished and despondent: This speech, the first big moment for K-12 education in this general election, signals a potentially meaningful shift in Democratic Party education politics. Because there is a missing factor of three in the calculation of the mass of CO2 in the atmosphere, a more realistic price would be $1 trillion. *Limestone blocks in Malta. To make it mor... more »

Does the longest war in U.S. history-- nearly 15 years long-- have an end in sight? Peace in Afghanistan will only come through a comprehensive solution that does not rely on our military, but puts more emphasis on diplomatic political engagement, capacity development, and humanitarian relief. STOP BOMBING, SHOOTING AND LISTEN / EX CIA AGENT SPEAKS OUT
*In light of President Obama's drone assassination program with countless collateral civilian deaths as well as worldwide blowback terrorist attacks, such as recently in Iraq, with thousands of senseless civilian deaths ~ perhaps it's time, voiced by many Americans this Independence day, for America to take the lead, stop its War of Terror and begin to listen to our enemies, as former undercover CIA Officer Amaryllis Fox so eloquently recommends: Allen L Roland, PhD * *"* *An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind.” * *~* Mahatma Gandhi Gandhi's words r... more »
July 8: A_A_A_A_no Quebec beer?
Today's front page of the Irving press is gripping. A bold headline drops the bombshell of the day. The provinces are close to an initerprovincial trade deal. But it WON'T include beer. Badly shaken, I turned to the next story. "Toddler meets national defence minister." But even that takes a back seat to a big photo of a little litle girl sitting in a car and holding the steering wheel just as if she were driving. And there's a big story about that below it. And who says Moncton doesn't have a city plan? Yesterday, two granite blocks were taken from Main St. so panhandlers wouldn't ... more »
Dear reader, I am 77 years old and still in decent health, so if I were to be on my death bed tomorrow I would still be able to reflect on having had a full and rewarding life. However, the situation that Paul Craig Roberts and I are concerned with could cut short the lives of our children and grandchildren. The very real possibility of this breaks my heart. PCR spelled out in the preceding post the very real danger facing us and our loved ones …all due to our government supporting the plans of a horde of insane neocons planning to dominate the earth or kill us all in nuclear holocaust. In case you don’t believe us, take a look at today’s REUTERS’ account which I re-post here.

“What is the nearest major galaxy to our own Milky Way Galaxy? Andromeda. In fact, our Galaxy is thought to look much like Andromeda. Together these two galaxies dominate the Local Group of galaxies. The diffuse light from Andromeda is caused by the hundreds of billions of stars that compose it. The several distinct stars that surround Andromeda's image are actually stars in our Galaxy that are well in front of the background object. *Click image for larger size.* Andromeda is frequently referred to as M31 since it is the 31st object on Messier's list of diffuse sky objects. Chet Raymo, “Examination Of Conscience”
*“Examination Of Conscience”* by Chet Raymo “I have been reading Stephanie Smallwood's “Saltwater Slavery”, a close examination of the trade in human beings between the coast of West Africa and the Americas in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is a sobering read, but if there is one thing I came away with, it was this: We have an enormous capacity to rationalize the most horrendous crimes. Everyone involved in the slave trade- the European owners of the ships, the masters of the trading companies, the ship captains and crews, the plantation owners in the West Indies and the Chesapea... more »
"If The Earth Were Only A few Feet In Diameter..."
"If the earth were only a few feet in diameter, floating a few feet above a field somewhere, people would come from everywhere to marvel at it. People would walk around it marveling at its big pools of water, its little pools, and the water flowing between the pools. People would marvel at the bumps on it, and the holes in it, and they would marvel at the very thin layer of gas surrounding it and the water suspended in the gas. The people would marvel at all the creatures walking around the surface of the ball and at the creatures in the water. The people would declare it sacred bec... more »
"Tell Yourself..."
“Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could.” - Louise Erdrich
"Four Noble Buddha Quotes"
"Four Noble Buddha Quotes" by Perry Garfinkel "Isn't it - I can't decide whether to say "ironic" or "appropriate" - that modern technology now brings us wisdom that would otherwise have been considered oh so 2,500 years ago? I refer here to sharing timeless tips from one Siddhartha Gautama, the prince who lived 500 years before the Common Era, a.k.a. the Buddha. But sage as he was, as relevant today as when he lived, quoting the Buddha is dangerous business. Nothing he said was written down until some 300 years after his death; it was all passed down orally. By the time it got to u... more »

The Poet: T.S. Eliot, "The Four Quartets"
*"The Four Quartets"* "I said to my soul, be still, and wait without hope For hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love For love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith But the faith and the love and the hope are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing." - T.S. Eliot
"Apathy And Evil"
"Apathy and evil. The two work hand in hand. They are the same, really... Evil wills it. Apathy allows it. Evil hates the innocent and the defenseless most of all. Apathy doesn't care as long as it's not personally inconvenienced." - Jake Thoene, "Shaiton's Fire"

Report From Anti-NATO Confab in Warsaw
By Dave Webb Today in Warsaw, Poland was the first day of the *No to War, No to NATO* conference and demonstration to protest the NATO Summit being held here and suggest alternatives to militarism. I am here as a Global Network representative on the organising committee. Warsaw is a beautiful city which has been restored after being totally destroyed by Nazi troops during the Warsaw Uprising in August 1944. A post-war five-year *reconstruction* campaign by Warsaw citizens restored the churches, palaces and market-place of the Old Town. I walked through there with Pascal, Amela an... more »
Gangjeong Community Kitchen on Navy Hit List
Veterans For Peace member Will Griffin (Iraq and Afghanistan veteran) reports from Gangjeong village on Jeju Island, South Korea the following: The Samgeori Area will face demolition soon. The government is to demolish the protest community kitchen, the watchtower, and the 10 containers where people live. The reason of the demolition is to build a 4 lane entry road to the cruise terminal which is planned to be constructed at the western tip of the base by next year. Since Samgeori, the entrance to the sacred Gureombi Rock, was fenced off in 2011, the tent kitchen and the watchtower... more »

Violence in America - Who Should be Surprised?
You reap what you sow. What goes around comes around. America was created by violence. Violence is woven into the very fabric of our divided nation. Pull any thread and blood flows. It appears to me that the American experiment is over. Capitalists who control the US don't really need us anymore as they are maximizing profits internationally - cheaper labor can be found overseas. Disinvestment in America has been going on for the past 30-40 years as the corporate oligarchy has moved their *$$$$* and jobs out of the country and the government (under corporate direction) has sla... more »

Rubio Has One Path To Reelection: Patrick Murphy
Marco Rubio realized he wasn't going to be the Republican presidential nominee when he started seeing the polls from his home state, polls that showed him losing badly to Trumpy the Clown. And on election day, Florida did indeed give Rubio a big thumbs down-- or maybe the middle finger. Trump won all 99 delegates with 1,077,221 votes (45.7%). Rubio only won one county in the whole state, his own, Miami-Dade. His statewide total was a sad 636,653 votes (27.0%), better than Cruz's 403,640 (17.1%) and Kasich's 159,412 (6.8%). But he was, after all, the senator from Florida. There were... more »

What's really behind the Dallas police being killed?...
*let's let two black men and a white man give you the answer.* I think everything that could be said about this incident has been said. I am too weary to plug in my 2 cents worth of insight. *I only have one cautionary statement to make. Do not get sucked into the MSM or the liberal government puppets yanking your chain. They are the major part of the problem. Obama, Lynch, Mark Dayton, and all the rest of the race-baiters want nothing more than to foment a race war. Do not fall for it. Do not allow yourself to be manipulated. * *After listening to Stefan Molyneux, Alfonzo Ra... more »
