The Trumpy The Clown Convention Approaches

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 59 minutes ago
In Cleveland, on July 18 the Republican Party formally surrenders to Trumpism. The excuses some are making to avoid it are getting funny now. Texas Governor Greg Abbott was scalded with hot water on his feet and legs by the Good Lord. There are 54 GOP senators. So far 16 of them have gone to the media to announce they're boycotting the Trump convention next week. Others say they haven't decided yet. Jeff Flake of Arizona had the coolest excuse-- he has to mow his lawn. Others avoiding the stigma include Marco Rubio (R-FL), Pat Toomey (R-PA), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Ben Sasse (R-NE),... more »

Vanishing stars are ones that ‘disappear’ suddenly from the sky, and scientists haven’t been able to explain the phenomena, until now. Sciencealert.com reports: Researchers in Sweden have already identified one such ‘vanishing’ star, and while they’re not sure what made it disappear from the view of our telescopes just yet, the absence of any astrophysical explanation means extraterrestrial intervention can’t be ruled out. These Are Real Political Leaders

These two short videos both display brilliant political and moral leadership. In the above case we see Dr. Cornell West testifying at a Democratic Party platform committee meeting where they were considering a proposal to include a harsh rebuke of Israel's brutal treatment of the Palestinian people. The committee rejected the proposal, as expected, due to the reality that the Democratic Party is fully controlled by Zionists. There are several ways by which this takes place. First, free trade expands the choices and options of the local consumers and producers in the economy, both in prices and product quality. Thus, a rice farmer will have more choices where to get his new farm tractor, harvester, and fertilizer and this greatly expands his productivity while reducing crop wastes and losses. THE PROBLEMS WITH NOVELS: "All the killings," the cable guest said!

bob somerby at the daily howler - 14 hours ago
*MONDAY, JULY 11, 2016Part 1—Then came the killings in Dallas:* Last Thursday evening, in the 7 PM hour, Erin Burnett was conducting a typical pseudo-discussion. The shootings in Dallas were still a few hours away. On her nightly CNN program, Burnett was pretending to conduct a discussion of the shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile. The pretense began with the selection of Burnett's guests. Presumably, such selections are made by Burnett's corporate bosses. One of Burnett's guests this night was Harry Houck. He was introduced by Burnett as "a former NYPD detective." ... more »

The number of AIDS cases in Australia is now so small, doctors and scientists do not even record the numbers anymore. Abc.net.au reports: AIDS cases in Australia have plummeted since the advent of anti-retroviral medication in the mid-1990s, which stops HIV from progressing to AIDS – where the immune system is so badly damaged it cannot fight off infection. At its peak in the early 1990s, about 1,000 Australians died from AIDS each year. Ho... more »

It was also the Brexit-related question on his mind this week. Here's how he phrased it today: "Who speaks for those who want to remain in the EU?" After going to last week's March of the 0.17% of the Population who Attended the March, this week he went to* another* gathering of disgruntled Remainers. He's incorrigible.

Debunking

Craig at Is the BBC biased? - 1 day ago
Here's a postponed post that *should* have been posted at the time (Saturday 9 April, early evening). I post it now (Sunday, early evening), unchanged.... As to why I didn't post it at the time I'll let you guess. ****** It's not every day you get to debunk *Guido Fawkes, *but Guido has posted a piece this afternoon saying that Rachel Sylvester of *The Times *"contradicted her own story *[regarding Andrea Leadsom and Motherhoodgate]*...an hour later" on the BBC this morning. Guido's evidence is RS saying something on the BBC News Channel at 9:04 and then seeming to say something... more »

Why there won't be a race war...

Adrienne at Adrienne's Corner - 1 day ago
*because white people will not participate*. It's as simple as that. Not that Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and all the rest of the liberal/Marxist scum aren't trying their best to foment one. Who the hell do they think is going to participate? The soy latte drinking pajama boys on the left? Ah, no. The rich libtards who are protected by their walls and heavily armed security? Not a chance since it would interrupt one of their million dollar vacations. The people on the right? No. They will defend themselves if necessary, but they won't go looking for a war. *Barack Obama*... more »

The Last Of His Generation

Owen Gray at Northern Reflections - 1 day ago
It's been a week since Elie Wiesel's death. Avi Benolo writes that he was the last of his generation: His generation was the generation of the 20th century that struggled to put a broken world back together. His generation was the generation of Martin Luther King Jr. A generation that fought for social justice and humanity. It was a generation that spoke about not being silent. In King’s words, “our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Similarly, Wiesel would argue “we must take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence en... more »

Did President Obama Fail The World's Expectations Of Him?

War News Updates Editor at War News Updates - 1 day ago
*Nahal Toosi, Politico:* *How the World Fell Out of Love with Obama* *In countries key to the president’s legacy, people express profound disappointment in a man from whom they expected great things.* The rest of the world fell as hard for Barack Obama as Americans did. Back in 2008, the same qualities in the 47-year-old senator from Illinois that excited U.S. voters enthralled people around the globe. He was a fresh face and a compelling orator. He had spent his childhood in the Asia-Pacific, and his skin color alone made billions of people feel a connection with him. Perhaps mos... more »

War News Updates Editor at War News Updates - 1 day ago
*CBS: **Obama defends Black Lives Matter movement as protests heat up* During a visit to Spain early Sunday morning, President Obama defended the Black Lives Matter movement and the right of activists to demonstrate in cities across the United States, following a long night of ongoing protests over the highly public deaths last week of two black men at the hands of police. "One of the great things about America is that individual citizens and groups of citizens can petition their government, can protest, can speak truth to power," Mr. Obama told reporters in Madrid. "And that is s... more »

Thought for the day

sue at Is the BBC biased? - 1 day ago
Don’t you just hate it when otherwise respectable people punctuate their conversation with “D’you know what?” I realise they do this for dramatic effect, but in my opinion it just makes them look a bit of a prat. But it’s a contagion so no doubt I’ll do it myself sometime. Whatever. *The News* is like news-on-steroids at the minute. I’ve been binge-watching politics all morning, and d’you know what? I can’t think of anything interesting to say about it. It’s so mad that even the normal norms are abnormal, if that’s not too Rumsfieldian for a Sunday lunchtime. Oh yes, and by the way... more »

Maryam and Mona

Craig at Is the BBC biased? - 1 day ago
On a similar theme, this morning's *Sunday *featured a discussion between Professor Mona Siddiqui (of *Thought For The Day* fame) and Maryam Namazie from the Council of Ex-Muslims in Britain. As the *Independent *has been reporting, more than 200 individuals and human rights groups have signed a letter branding Mona Siddiqui's official inquiry into the role of sharia courts in the UK (set up by Theresa May) as a "whitewash" because of the appointment of an Islamic scholar (ie. Mona) as chair and two imams to its advisory board. *Sunday *is to be commended for featuring both sides... more »
