Railroad Regulation’s Poor Track RecordIn my recent article on the Biden administration’s many-pronged assault on economic freedom, I pointed out that comparisons of President Biden with former president Jimmy Carter are inaccurate and unfair to Carter. Pennsylvania accused of facilitating vote fraudLynne Lechter: ... Pennsylvania created a blueprint for the Democrats’ art of the steal. Since the Presidential election, the Democrat-run machine has added to its bag of dirty tricks. Prior to the election, the Montgomery County (Montco) Board of Elections sent 16,000.00 mail-in-ballots in error. Only one side had been printed. The Board asked that recipients mail back the spoiled ballots. Of course, not all were returned. Biden's tax credit for union made electric vehiclesWashington Examiner: ... The $4,500 union-only tax credit is part of a larger $12,500 incentive that also rewards buyers of electric vehicles. The parallel universe of liberal elitesTom Slater: America’s liberal elites are broken. They are now totally deranged and detached from reality. That’s become brutally clear in the past 24 hours. While we all knew it was coming, the collective media and political meltdown over the acquittal of 18-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse has revealed a ruling class so warped, so unprincipled, so governed by partisan prejudice, that it essentially lives in a parallel universe. ... The cost of Thanksgiving dinnerThere's a lot of discussion about inflation and the cost of Thanksgiving dinner. Farm Bureau tracks this and my figures are from that website. The 2020 dinner for 10 was $46.90, a decrease from 2019 which was $48.91. The 2021 dinner for 10 is $53.31, up 14% over 2020, which was the Covid year, and a decrease from 2019. However, the 2017 cost was $49.12, or 23.1% cheaper that 1986 ($63.87 in 2017 dollars). I'm math challenged, so will some genius tell me if the 2021 dinner is cheaper than 1986? No matter how you slice it, it's still a good deal. read more

Sometimes we forget where our 'watches' come fromThe weekend's #Groundswell protests, and the #Groundswell movement itself, were intended to highlight the plight of the New Zealand farmer under an unsympathetic regime. Instead, however, the organisers have allowed it to become easily gaslighted as something it's not. As racist, or anti-vax. And the important message has been lost: that it's NZ farmers who allow us to live in first-world comfort -- that it's their exported produce that allows us to buy, at not unreasonable prices, all the technology of the world. As Ludwig Von Mises explained back before electronics took over:... read more

Can A Progressive Be Convinced By Facts?* The Kyle Rittenhouse trial has given us an unusual opportunity to contrast uncontestable facts as shown on many video recordings with an endlessly repeated media narrative that seems to exist in an alternate reality. * To my amazement, even after two full weeks of livestreamed trial, most notably featuring videos taken on the night at issue and a witness testifying that he had pointed a gun in Rittenhouse’s face, many on the left cling to the prior narrative of the case. * They seem to feel as though that narrative contains a greater truth about our justice system and racism in th... read more
