Africa Does Not Want To Be A Breeding Ground For The New Cold War
On 17 October, the head of US Africa Command (AFRICOM), US Marine Corps General Michael Langley visited Morocco. Langley met with senior Moroccan military leaders, including Inspector General of the Moroccan Armed Forces Belkhir El Farouk. Since 2004, AFRICOM has held its ‘largest and premier annual exercise’, African Lion, partly on Moroccan soil. Liberal Democracy: The Bedfellow Of Fascism
Antifascism, as a politic and concept, has grown more appealing in the last 6 years because of the rise of right-wing authoritarianism domestically and globally rooted in patriarchy and ongoing (settler) colonialism. Nonetheless, there remains much confusion about fascism. Earlier this month, I was a featured panelist for a roundtable discussion with the editors of For Antifascist Futures: Against the Violence of Imperial Crisis and author of On Microfascism: Gender War and Death at the Red Emma’s bookstore in Baltimore. U.S. Federal Interest Payments Will Exceed The Pentagon Budget By 2025
*CNN:* *US debt: Federal interest payments could soon exceed military spending* New York CNN Business — The Federal Reserve’s war on inflation isn’t just painful for home buyers and people with credit card debt. Uncle Sam is getting squeezed by higher borrowing costs, too. The cost to finance America’s growing mountain of debt is rising rapidly as the Fed scrambles to put out the inflation fire by raising interest rates and shrinking its nearly $9 trillion balance sheet. During fiscal 2022 alone, the federal government made $475 billion in net interest payments, up from $352 b... read more

Colombia’s first ever left-wing President Gustavo Petro made history on November 1 by visiting his neighbor Venezuela, officially normalizing relations after years of hostility. What Worries The United States Most About Lula
President Joe Biden kept a promise to Lula da Silva by congratulating him for “free, fair and credible” elections minutes after Sunday’s results declared Lula the winner over incumbent Jair Bolsonaro. The Racism Of The Supreme Court’s Supermajority Was On Full Display
During more than five hours of oral arguments in two cases that will probably spell the death of affirmative action in colleges and universities, the racism of the six right-wingers on the Supreme Court was on full display. By Paul Homewood I see the wretched Alok Sharma is still as deluded as ever: The window to limit global warming to 1.5C is “closing fast”, Alok Sharma, the Cop26 president, has warned as he called on Rishi Sunak to step up plans to reduce domestic emissions. Speaking before the international climate negotiations […] read more

"The Stasi was one of the most hated and feared institutions of the East German communist government." It was established in 1950 but with no specific legislation (sounds familiar) and started small. It was "re... read more
