Tecopa is a desert oasis about two miles south of the Town of Shoshone, CA at the very southern end of Death Valley. It sits on an earthquake fault and the water comes out of the earth hot. The photos (below) are what Tecopa looks like today. I suspect from all historical evidence that this is very much what it looked like 1000 years ago. How Accidental are America’s Accidental Civilian Killings Across the Middle East?

Peter Van Buren at - 14 hours ago
[image: undefined] US Secretary of Defense James Mattis has said “civilian casualties are a fact of life in this sort of situation,” referring to America’s war against Islamic State. How can America in clear conscience continue to kill civilians across the Middle East? It’s easy; ask Grandpa what he did in the Good War. Civilian deaths in WWII weren’t dressed up as collateral damage, they were policy. Following what some claim are looser rules of engagement in place under the Trump administration, US-led coalition air strikes in Iraq and Syria killed 1,484 civilians in March 2017 a... more »

It's Canada Day, this year dubbed Canada 150, with its own corporate brand and a carefully worded story of that number 150. We also have Canada 150+, which acknowledges that human cultures and societies have been living in what is now Canada for thousands of years. I have mixed feelings about Canada Day. First, I despise nationalism of all kinds, including the kind called patriotism. I used to make a distinction between the two (something I learned from my mother), but have come to feel that it is all the same: I am better than you because I live on this piece of land and you don't.... more »

All are associated with proximity to application of roundup in both time and place in terms of the available meta-statistics. As well the necessary biological pathways have also been worked out. What is missing of course is an admission of guilt from Monsanto. 1 The collapse of Male fertility, first observed in North America. 2 The global amphibian collapse, easily explained by the ease in which round up is absorbed through their skins. Here’s why Sean Spicer’s ‘warning’ to Assad really was just news management

Ever Wonder Exactly How Much Your Life Is Worth To A U.S. Senator? Mitch McConnell’s Slush Fund 13 Has The Answer

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 1 day ago
*-by Noah* Unless you are completely brain dead or completely delusional, you know that Washington is a monument to corruption on a grand scale. It’s no secret that most people, regardless of party, who go into national politics do so to hop on board the gravy train of corporate graft. That makes the few that aren’t corrupt possibly qualified for some kind of minor sainthood and/or gluttons for punishment. They are lucky they aren’t burned at the stake out on the steps of the Capitol building. Money in politics is an evil thing but the efforts of McConnell and his accomplices to ... more »

The Poet: Sheenagh Pugh, “What If This Road”

*“What If This Road”* “What if this road, that has held no surprises these many years, decided not to go home after all; what if it could turn left or right with no more ado than a kite-tail? What if its tarry skin were like a long, supple bolt of cloth, that is shaken and rolled out, and takes a new shape from the contours beneath? And if it chose to lay itself down in a new way; around a blind corner, across hills you must climb without knowing what's on the other side; who would not hanker to be going, at all risks? Who wants to know a story's end, or where a road will go?” ~ Sheenagh ... more »

"Yes, the times change with the tides; yet the tales, like the surf, sound on in familiar perpetuity and with steady repetition. In the modern era, during the great clash of civilizations currently underway, there will be no new, great and ghastly crusades. Only resistance or surrender. In America, just as her tide recedes from the world, in the end it may become Man overboard, and every man for himself. The sun rises. The sun sets. As sand through an hour-glass, or waves rolling over every shore, so too, do our journeys mark passageways through time; and, in the end, our navigatio... more »
