While we're on that *Who's Won the White House?* BBC One special tonight...
There was bleak, threatening mood music accompanying an item by pro-EU BBC
veteran Allan Little, and his piece didn't hesitate to draw links between
the "fear" felt by Trump supporter and Brexit supporters ("from western
Pennsylvania to Brexit Britain") or to make some familiar 'Remoaner' points:
It is a revolt too against governing elites - people perceived to have done
well out of the globalised economy.
And that distrust has walked hand in hand with a revolt against expertise.
It has brought a new age... more »
Analysis casts doubt on bone researcher’s body of work

A new analysis of more than 30 clinical trials co-authored by a bone
researcher based in Japan is casting doubt on the legitimacy of the
findings. Yoshihiro Sato, based at Mitate Hospital, has already retracted
12 papers, for reasons ranging from data problems, to including co-authors
without their consent, to self-plagiarism. Most of these retracted papers

*Update November 10, 2016 Thursday 9:15 EST:* It looks like I have become a

Trump's victory may not create the change that many Russians are hoping for
in Russia - West relations. The debate has been interesting. More on it

Nov. 9: Trump? It doesn't matter.
Graeme Decarie at The Decarie Report - 1 day ago
Normally, Thursday is a day off for the blog. But this Thursday (tomorrow
as I write this), it will appear, and be devoted to Remembrance Day for
those who died in our wars. Some people will not like it.

And Trump's won. What's to say? So far, he has no policies of any worth.
Neither did Clinton. Both are disasters and, thanks to a combination of
greed and ignorance, U.S. democracy has come, not to a turning point, but
to the end of the road.

the future of the Federal Reserve*
As Wall Street grapples with the election of Donald Trump as the next US

Among the myriad uncertain consequences of Trump's election is the real
possibility of a major shake-up at the Federal Reserve.
Jefferies economist Sean Darby said that in terms of possible problems for
the economy going forward the "main risk is monetary policy uncertainty."

Canada’s Immigration Website Crashes As Donald Trump Is Elected

The Canadian immigration and citizenship website went down for hours
Tuesday and Wednesday as chances of a Donald Trump presidency became a

leave the United States for Canada resulted in the website for ‘Citizenship

reports: Search traffic for “Canada immigration,” “Canada” and “move to
Canada” has increased in the United States relative to the past seven days,

Well, as V said in *V For Vendetta*, "You have only to look in a

As of this moment, Hillary Clinton still leads Donald Trump in the
popular vote by over 209,000. Of course, in the United States, it's not the
popular vote that counts, which seems to run counter to the idea that we're
a democratic republic, but the Electoral College. And the Electoral College,
that perennial School of Hard Knocks, tells us that Trump has won the

In its pseudo-reporting of politics, the Times is a rolling gong-show.
Consider the recent, snarky front-page report about the dying candidate's

The report was written by Haberman, Parker, Peters and Barbaro—a genuine

Their profile topped Monday's front page. Hard-copy headline included, this
