Day 2: Jeju Peace Walk Update

Bruce K. Gagnon at Organizing Notes - 18 minutes ago
- Day two of the Jeju Island peace walk in South Korea was another hot one. We did 13 miles and everyone was very tired by the end. One man who specializes in fixing blisters was quite busy from morning until 8:00 pm helping the walking wounded. I developed just a tiny blister on the back of my heel from the rubbing of my sandals. Going to have to wear socks and shoes today which I have dreaded doing because of the heat. - In the photo above you can see the dish washing operation back at Gangjeong village. Crying wolf at another Olympics

Peter Cresswell at Not PC - 51 minutes ago
There are two regular periods of hiatus in the media. One comes every year around Christmas-time when everyone pisses off to the beach, and if there is any news around there is no-one around the newsrooms to report it. Media mavens call this the Silly Season, because what does appear in what passes for news is evern sillier than what we normally see. Seriously. The other hiatus arrives once every four years when thousands of reporters are flown to the Olympics several weeks before they start, to find they have nothing yet about which to report until the Games actually commence... more »

Capitalists have a better plan

*Our guest poster Robert Murphy reckons* *Capitalists Have a Better Plan* To the early 20th-century intellectuals [who invented central planning], capitalism looked like anarchy. Why, they wondered, would we trust deliberative, conscious guidance when building a house but not when building an economy? It was fashionable among these socialist intellectuals to espouse “planning” as a much more rational way to organise economic activity. (F.A. Hayek wrote a famous essay on the phenomenon.) How Trucks Can Make Delivery Drones a Reality

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 18 hours ago
This makes so much sense. The truck suddenly becomes a mobile warehouse that heads to a convenient distribution point and sets up there to move the goods. Just doing the obvious in moving a truck load from the airport to the downtown is perfect. It does mean receivers setting up a landing station to properly optimize the service as the driver will not be at the door to figure anything out. Yet we are overdue for just that anyway and it is not that difficult. I Can't Believe This NYT Article About Trump Is Not A Bigger Story/Scandal?

What the media cannot fathom is that our boy saves his egomaniac self for them and his deal making opponents. It apparently works like a hot damn even when you know better. Otherwise he delegates everything else period. That means retaining the best possible talent and treating them respectfully so long as they perform their jobs. How else do you think he managed a multi billion dollar hotel empire. Most certainly not by micro management. And yes, the first hire had to be someone able to do the executive part of the presidency. That also means that he can focus on the dea... more »

End of nations: Is There an Alternative to Countries?

arclein at Terra Forming Terra - 18 hours ago
Of course there is. The secret is to establish self governing City States that provide citizenship only to a specific 'nation'. That could be a tribe or some form of ethnicity and all that. There would obviously be many such city states whose ethnicity is Russian or American. Yet there would also be nations cities for all of our minority ethnic populations. Such city states can handle all the issues normal to such communities including title for living space easily handled in our world of condominiu ms. Much more critical all lands surrounding such States can b... more »

The bigger picture still involves a superior protocol that eliminates poverty generally and yes also eliminates food insecurity. Elongated Human Skulls of Peru

[image: Selection of Paracas Elongated Skulls] A bit of an update from Brian Foerster. What is clear is that the practice of head shaping has a world wide distribution coinciding with the Global Atlantean culture that operated from 2500 BC through 1159BC or three thousand years ago at least. Better yet this also coincides with the tribe of giants that was clearly allied with the Atlantean culture and resided mostly in North America, but may have been originally European. Shaping such a giant's skull could well generate the specimens and the tribe may well have had modi... more »

Our improving knowledge regarding communication with spirits generally has led us to understand that a given human soul will express itself as many as thirty times in one life span. I suspect that means conception takes place at pretty well the same time, but then birth itself is spread out over as many today as eight weeks. This obviously allows a soul to have thirty parallel life times with several key learning experiences for each. Rather puts the ego in its place! Yet it solves the obvious efficiency question when it comes to lower lifeforms. This inspired my daughter to... more »

CDC Executive Resigns After Being Caught Colluding With Coca-Cola to Salvage Soda Market

The negative effects of ample sugar in our diet is well established and actually sufficient to consider banning it use generally for commercial applications, while allowing a combination of some honey and Stevia to replace it so long as there is a caloric roof. I would allow the continuing sale to households though. Here we see the clear cause of regulatory silence on this whole issue when the science is as good as it can get. A blanket elimination of sugar as i just described would drive massive innovation to establish acceptable work arounds and that is way overdue. .. . *CD... more »

He didn't win that race in a deep red district but he gave entrenched incumbent John Shadegg, a far right extremist, a hard enough time that Shadegg announced he wouldn't seek reelection. Bob and I stayed in contact-- he even wrote some guest posts for us-- and he's proven to be an astute observer of Arizona politics, primarily on the popular Blog for Arizona. Yesterday he had some comments on every progressive's least favorite nemesis, Debbie Wasserman Schultz: *On Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, Down... more »
