Netanyahu's Speech To Congress Is Full of Fantasies, Shamefully Uses Memory of Holocaust To Prevent Peace Between America and Iran
*Netanyahu's
problem is the Palestinian question. His solution is to distract the
world by drumming up fear about Iran's peaceful nuclear program. * "But
Iran's regime is not merely a Jewish problem, any more than the Nazi
regime was merely a Jewish problem. The 6 million Jews murdered by the
Nazis were but a fraction of the 60 million people killed in World War

also the peace of the entire world. To understand just how dangerous

The
BBC (and the *Guardian*) pursued the Murdoch empire relentlessly over
phone hacking. You'll doubtless recall the countless lead stories on the
website, the innumerable 'Newsnight' reports, the endless updates on
'PM', all those Robert Peston blogposts, etc, etc, etc. Pretty much
every twist and turn in the story received massive attention from the
BBC. Murdoch's Sky is, of course, the BBC's major rival, so they were
never going to be a disinterested party. The outrageous thing was how
little effort they made to hide the fact. Of course I could be wrong,

March 3: Greece, Portugal, Ireland, and New Brunswick...
...and
Spain and Portugal have something in common. All were subject to wild
speculation by banks and investors. As well, the banks and investors
were using questionable and perhaps illegal practices to increase their
profits. Then the recession hit, and the bottom dropped out. No problem.
The rich just used their control of governments to get bailed out.
Result- the taxpayers had to take the hit. One way to do that was to cut
social spending in order to be able to give more money to the people
who had caused the recession. The blame on social spending and

“Why am I letting myself be beholden to the gatekeeper?”
Franz
Kafka has a short story called "Before the Law." A man seeks access to
the law, but when he arrives at the gates of the law, a gatekeeper

the gatekeeper, but he does not oblige. When the man is facing death he
asks the gatekeeper, "Why in all these years am I the only person to
seek answers from the law." The gatekeeper says, "Here no one else can
gain entry, since this entrance was assigned only to you. I'm going now
to close it." Sometimes it's better to act than to ask permission.

Iraqi Army Allegedly Downs A US Helicopter For Providing Weapons To ISIS: Report

according to FARS and, apparently, high-ranking Iraqi officials, was
that the helicopter was carrying weapons to ISIS. Head of the Iraqi

Is The Nemtsov Murder The First Shot Fired In The Russian Spring?
Source
Brandon Turbeville With the recent assassination of Russian opposition
figure, Boris Nemtsov, both Russia and the world seem to yet again be
standing at the edge of a dangerous precipice. Domestically, Russia must
now contend with the turmoil that results any time a high profile
political assassination takes place. Internationally, however, the
killing of Nemtsov represents the possibility of a dangerous escalation
in international relations since, at best, Western powers will
undoubtedly seize upon the assassination as an opportunity to blame

The 15 Most Miserable Economies In The World
*Bloomberg:*
*The 15 Most Miserable Economies in the World* *Consumers in Venezuela
are expected to suffer the most in 2015Inflation is a disease that can
wreck a society, Milton Friedman, the late Nobel laureate economist,
once said. Add rising unemployment to the diagnosis, and his profession
ascribes a rather non-technical term to the debilitating effect on
people: misery. That affliction this year will be most acute in
Venezuela, Argentina, South Africa, Ukraine and Greece — the five most
painful economies in which to live and work, according to Bloomberg
survey data that ... more »
Is somebody finally doing something about the horror that is Monday?
*It
turns out that what the Studio 360 people really would have liked to
"redesign" was the daily commute, but that was judged too big a job, and
since the commute is worst on Monday mornings, they decided to settle
for "redesigning" Mondays.* *by Ken* The short answer to the question in
my post title, "Is somebody finally doing something about the horror
that is Monday?," is: Well, we'll see. Frankly, I can't figure out what
it is they think they're going to do about the problem Their very idea,
that Monday can be treated as a "design" problem and "redesigned" out of
its horrible... more »
Ground Water Contamination Rising at Daiichi
Ground
water contamination has been rising steadily at the Daiichi site,
especially since the summer of 2013 when water from the well between the
ocean and unit 1 measuring a record 5 million Becquerels per liter of
radioactive Strontium-90 alone in July 2013 (“Record Strontium-90
Level,” 2014). The quantity of Strontium-90 in the July 2013 well water
was 170,000 times the permissible level. TEPCO stated the total
Becquerels per liter was likely 10 million when all beta ray sources are
included (“TEPCO to Review,” 2014). TEPCO had originally interpreted
the July 2013 beta test... more »

beloved Mississippi writer Eudora Welty tells of her time at the
Mississippi State College for Women. The first book she bought for her
bookshelf was In April Once, by the Mississippi poet William Alexander
Percy. The first poem in the book, written in New York City, was
entitled "Home": "I have a need of silence and of stars. Too much is
said too loudly. I am dazed. The silken sound of whirled infinity Is
lost in voices shouting to be heard..." She is walking on the campus at

"What Life Requires..."
“Life
does not require us to be consistent, cruel, patient, helpful, angry,
rational, thoughtless, loving, rash, open-minded, neurotic, careful,
rigid, tolerant, wasteful, rich, downtrodden, gentle, sick, considerate,
funny, stupid, healthy, greedy, beautiful, lazy, responsive, foolish,
sharing, pressured, intimate, hedonistic, industrious, manipulative,
insightful, capricious, wise, selfish, kind or sacrificed. Life does,
however, require us to live with the consequences of our choices.” -
Richard Bach, "Running From Safety"
Stephen Levine, “Half Life”
*“Half
Life”* "We walk through half our life as if it were a fever dream,
barely touching the ground, our eyes half open, our heart half closed.
Not half knowing who we are, we watch the ghost of us drift from room to
room, through friends and lovers never quite as real as advertised. Not
saying half we mean or meaning half we say, we dream ourselves from
birth to birth seeking some true self. Until the fever breaks and the
heart can not abide a moment longer as the rest of us awakens, summoned
from the dream, not half caring for anything but love." ~ Stephen Levine
“Being a Human in This World, A Personal Credo”
*“Being
a Human in This World, A Personal Credo” * by John Robbins “I am
someone who works and prays for world peace. Perhaps you are, too. But
our society is spending a billion dollars a day preparing for war. I
believe that inner peace is found when you love the world as it is,
rather than faulting it for not living up to your expectations. I
believe in forgiveness. I believe in accepting others for who they are.
But I am part of a society that is spending far more on weapons of mass
destruction and producing far more toxic waste than any other in the
history of the world. I bel... more »
“Life's Crossroads: How To Thrive in Times of Change”

Crossroads: * *How To Thrive in Times of Change”* by Linda Durnell
“Life's crossroads create opportunity for us to choose between different
options, and when we see someone embracing the moment when choices are
decided upon, it can be awe-inspiring. A crossroads is about change.
Choices must be made - not just when things are not working out as we
had planned, but also during positive moments when we must choose to
continue the course or veer off into something new. When we experience
an ending in a marriage, a change in careers, political upheavals, the

Pleading amendment orders interlocutory
Dynasty
Furniture Manufacturing Ltd. v. Toronto-Dominion Bank, 2015 ONCA 137:
[5] Decisions permitting amendments to pleadings are normally understood
to be interlocutory in nature: see *Merling v. Southam Inc. *(2000),
183 D.L.R. (4th) 748 (Ont. C.A.), at para. 2. However, the appellant
argues that the motion judge's decision is properly characterized as
final because it deprives the appellant of its defence to that part of
the action based on constructive knowledge. [6] The appellant
misconceives the nature of the motion judge's decision. As this court
noted recent... more »

political and not the least bit a demonstration of goodwill, they were

Quote of the day: On government “investment”
“You
are right when you say that "It's true that money has to be spent over a
long period in order to get more money in the end, but that this does
not constitute any reason why the government should do it." “… [N]ot
every long-term investment of money is necessarily and automatically
profitable or self-liquidating; that depends on the investor's economic
judgment; bad judgment leads to a total loss, to bankruptcy or to "money
poured down the drain." When, however, the investor is the government,
then the results are necessarily disastrous for the economy, for the

willing to risk Israel’s relationship with the U.S.World leaders have
long racked up points at home for being antagonistic toward the United
States. Hugo Chavez called Barack Obama “a clown” and “an

approval ratings soared. In Israel, however, this was never the case.

their sins are weighed, and even the countless things that pass in the

the only wise adviser that a warrior has. Whenever he feels that
everything is going wrong and he’s about to be annihilated, he can turn
