I seldom exercise blogging privileges at They Gave Us a Republic. For one thing, constant outrage over political dysfunction is wearing when conversation tracks in circles and looking 'Outside the Box' is not really what they're about. Occasionally I expose my nonconformity as an alien from a foreign country with a different viewpoint even from most of my compatriots.

I'm looking at a familiar pattern here. People who are so patriotic as to fight a 'defensive' war halfway across the planet are harassed and neglected after their efforts ; presumably because they realize they were fed drivel and bought into it. The next item shows an example of responsible assessment of priorities. The third is a matter of background information on hazardous material and ineffective containment : buildup from coal mining operations. The Coal River Mountain item illustrates incredible dysfunction. A proposed site for 'green' energy generation is opened up to strip mining. This despite an already substantial risk factor for fouling water supply : not just from changed regulations which do not protect streams, but from deposits of former activity being placed at risk of massive release of toxic materials into the watercourse. I've had an entry called Water - Wealth and Power at Opit's LinkFest! for a while now. Levees.org grew out of outrage over Katrina and NOLA. International Rivers came to my attention with a PDF about dam building in the Himalyas. Current TV features a group monitoring water related topics headed by JanforGore. And I have a SideBar Search posted on the blog...recording entries every time I run a RSS SnapShot! entry : usually every second day. 'Home - by the Home Project' on YouTube and 'Flow - the Movie' are further sources of basic information on the situation relating to the basic necessity of life. Indexing of Opit's LinkFest! on Blogspot posts are listed at 'Samples from the online menu + RSS' ( Links ) at Opit's Linkfest! on My Opera under 'Collections Forwarded to Blogger' http://my.opera.com/oldephartt... |
