Physicist Talks 'Great Leaps' Of Physical World In 'Seven Brief Lessons On Physics'
This short item contains an excellent conceptualization of General relativity you may find enlightening. It also helps to think of the mathematics of the General theory as orthogonal to the Newtonian approach. It is all beautiful and it works. Yet its apparent failure is that it fails to integrate particle physics. That is of course not true as I have shown with the introduction of nth ordered Pythagorean metrics which naturally preserves the geometry of General relativity while providing a particle structure that can be readily used to construct the observed universe in... more »
If Philosophy Won’t Diversify, Let’s Call It What It Really I
In my mind, the philosophy department is meant to be an incubator of intellectual disciplines whose first mandate is to establish a viable and rigorous intellectual foundation for new disciplines. Yet that has been the basis of all my own work. Folks do not get it right the first or even the tenth time out and sensitivity to foundations is necessary. Yet i will note that non European Philosophy and much of our own lacks rigor and attention to detail. This particularly true for older texts. All could benefit from critical philosophical discourse. This more true today now tha... more »
Consciousness Isn’t a Mystery. It’s Matter.
We have now come a lot further down this road. The cognitive brain is in some form or the other a physical processor that is continuously updated and rebuilt as needed. Yet information storage is through pathways to points of access, likely handled thorough our second tier light body that is mostly tasked with cellular maintenance. It is also noteworthy that lightbody cognition is fast but then must communicate through physical means with our physical brain to enact action including processing. It is very much a two way dance. Add in emergency systems and automatic systems... more »
Why Do People Perform Ritual? It's an Excellent Method of Self-Improvement
.The human reality is that we interact with our world through a remarkable collection of habits learned beginning in childhood. Altering those habits actually entails developing new habits to over write those other habits wherever possible. That is not easy. However, meditation will actually do it and most rituals are often carefully chosen habits that help as well. It is just that they become obvious as rituals. This item discusses it much further and it is worth contemplating. The take home for all of us is to understand what is ritual and to ask if they can be improved a... more »
No Regrets?
I was standing in line at our local Credit Union today and noticed a man standing at one of the teller windows. The backside of his T-shirt had a map of Iraq and above the map read "Proud to have served in Iraq" and the bottom read "No regrets". My heart sank. I wondered what was in this man's mind. Did he not care about the massive evidence that reveals George W. Bush and Tony Blair lied their way into that war? Did he not care that the Democrats in Congress largely went right along for the ride? (They knew the military production corporations located in their congressional ... more »

House Democrats Continue A Decade-Long Quest For Mind-Boggling Mediocrity-- Where Party Unity Is A One Way Street
*The nexus of Democratic Party evil-- their way or the highway* The incompetence and venality of a DCCC run by corrupt conservatives-- particularly Rahm Emanuel and Steve Israel, the former a New Dem and the latter a Blue Dog-- has led to overwhelming Republican victories in the House, including in bright blue districts where Obama won in 2008 and/or 2012. There aren't just Republican incumbents in swing districts, there are now Republican incumbents sitting in heavily Democratic districts where only an utterly incompetent DCCC, determined to elect corrupt conservatives to Congress ... more »
Remembering the Late 1990s in Gaming
The time leading up the the year 2000 was pretty neat for me in gaming. I had way more free time than I did now, what with no kids. Heck, I actually had more money, even though I make more now than I did back them - supporting two kids ain't cheap. Going through my notes, old games, and PDFs I found some interesting gems I'd not thought about in years, in rough order of publication... - *Conspiracy X* - The truth is out there... - *Deadlands *- wonderfully complicated with spellcasters trying for winning poker hands in a battle for their souls. Research supports value of school libraries
Published in Education Week, June 1, 2016, as *Research Supports Value of School Libraries* To the Editor: Megan McDonald adds another convincing case history showing the value of the library and librarians in schools ("How the School Library Saved My Life"). Studies agree: Keith Curry Lance's research in the United States consistently shows that school library quality is positively related to literacy development. The Ryan-Trump Bromance Has Flowered Into An Endorsement
It seems like forever, but it was just a month ago that Paul Ryan defiantly said he wasn't read to endorse the embarrassing fascist lug-head his party had been saddled with as it's presidential candidate. Today he was ready-- and he did. He wrote a column for his local paper, the *GazetteXtra*, and had his spokesperson tweet that that counted as an endorsement. He tried to focus attention on his own anti-family, Ayn Rand-inspired policy agenda we've been hearing about from him for his whole austerity-pushing film flam man career. Giza plateau 20,000 BC - ancient Sphinx not a lion - Goat statue of God Khnum

When Beta Readers Attack
There comes a time in every author's life and career in which a simple beta reading of their book, whether still in draft or ritualized in print, becomes an ordeal. Do Politicians Talk Down To Their Audiences?

What Is The Secret For Russian President Putin's Survival?
Russian President Putin. TASS *Andrei Kolesnikov, Project Syndicate:* *The Secret of Putin’s Survival* MOSCOW – Two years ago, a long process of growing authoritarianism and isolationism under President Vladimir Putin culminated in Russia’s annexation of Crimea. But even as much of the international community condemned the move, Russians seemed to welcome it. Indeed, the peninsula’s “return” to Russian control had a profound effect on public sentiment – one that seems to have strengthened Putin’s grip on power, even as Russia faces deepening political and economic challenges. Human Destiny
What i am presenting here is a completely different perspective regarding our Human destiny. All our teachings, including our spiritual lore has presented us with a fairly simple framework. We are conceived physically, this engenders a soul, and then we are born. We grow to maturity, age and ultimately die releasing said soul. Ample controversy exists regarding transmigration and reincarnation and of the true existence of spirit. This perspective is largely universal except perhaps those who commune more easily with spirit and thus assume such may be significant as well. Eve... more »
Monetizing the Debt Would Create Hyperinflation. Let's Not.
What is so wrong in this argument is the assumption that we would do it all in a single day. Why? What we want to do is to monetize five percent per year and stay ahead of new debt in the process. Thus we would establish a ceiling on the debt issued and reduce it through monetization or longer term paper at the rate of five percent per year. Low interest rates are present today and they are seriously deflationary themselves. Several years of this should have a three to six percent world sponging up all the surplus cash coming into the system. Add the transference of credit gra... more »
Billions of Pounds of Cheese are about to go to Waste
This is the easiest problem in the world to actually fix. The economics will need to be sorted out properly but what we do is have the surplus declared surplus and then directly supply it to all families on welfare at the rate of three to five kilos per month. If we presume fifty million needy families, that works out to at least 150,000,000 kilos per month or 150,000 tons We apparently have a million ton surplus to deal with and this means that in one year the entire surplus will have been worked off. Better that all these are the actual families suffering f...more »
