A Petition to Support the Saving American Democracy Amendment
WASHINGTON – Warning that “American democracy in endangered,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) today proposed a constitutional amendment to overturn a Supreme Court ruling that allowed unrestricted and secret campaign spending by corporations on U.S. elections.
War, Filled With Disgust
Gabriel Chevallier's long-neglected novel contains passages that 'would have had the author shot during the war.'
For telling "the truth" as he saw it, Chevallier was roundly pilloried by France's officer class when his novel was published in 1930. This was hardly surprising: Chevallier's novel not only threatened their credibility as soldiers, but also underlined the callous way they treated their men. One soldier in Dartemont's regiment describes "generals [who] are like students fresh from college: all theory and no practice. They came to war with modern equipment and a military system that's a century out of date."
The 'New Decembrists' face off against Putin |
Putin's popularity is declining, and mass protests are erupting after poorly-rigged elections, the author says.Russia's ruling elite are little different than, say, a pop song or a breakfast cereal. The more you consume them, the more disgusting they become, until their mere mention evokes the dry heaves. As returns from Sunday's polls show, more and more of the Russian electorate are getting nauseous with the political establishment, and Putin in particular. Six Republican presidential candidates appearing before the Republican Jewish Coalition in Washington, D.C. yesterday and uniformly accusing the president of appeasing Iran and the Palestinians. It shouldn't need to be said, but the word "appeasement" calls to mind the actions of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain at the Munich Conference in 1938. When he let Adolf Hitler take over Czechoslovakia without a fight, he lost his last opportunity to stop World War Two and the Holocaust. Using such loaded language to describe the president in front of a Jewish audience is both tasteless and outrageous.
It's nice to see the president push back forcibly on that kind of rhetoric.Re: Ask Bin-Laden (none / 0)
Maybe you think it`s nice. As one who snorted at the videos - and other fakery - and recalls that it was inconvenient to supply the Afghan government with one scintilla of cause for extraditing a Saudi prince who happened to have been Bush`s banker and loyal CIA tool - the murder of an unknown promoted to have been a man who was dying a decade ago just perpetuates the al CIA duh fantasy foisted on the world.
If you think Obama`s ability to murder at will is so great, you must be ecstatic that it has just been extended to include everyone - U.S. citizens in their homes included.Thank the Senate. Habeas Corpus and Due Process are even more smothered than the PATRIOT Act provided.

Homeland Security Occupys Philadelphia
Homeland Security brought terror to the streets of Philly. Bicycles and horses were used as weapons injuring many protesters. One of those arrested commented on the use of violence against ladies of smaller stature and other violent targeting practices.
When questioned about Homeland Security timing the raid on Occupy L.A. to the exact minute, Police Commissioner Ramsey chuckled and said, “We’d like to think they followed our lead.”“Do you want the federal government conducting military exercises on their own citizens? Do you want the U.S.A. invading it’s own cities?”

Evidence mounts that Maya did themselves in through deforestation
Researchers have garnered further evidence for a smoking gun behind the fall of the great Maya civilization: deforestation. At the American Geophysical Union (AGU) conference, climatologist Ben Cook presented recent research showing how the destruction of rainforests by the Mayan ultimately led to declines in precipitation and possibly civilization-rocking droughts.

Salon’s Justin Eliot has uncovered a right-wing listserv called “The Freedom Community” that targets bloggers and journalists who are critical of Israel. According to Elliot, the private listserv is made up many neoconservative journalists and at least one former Spokesman for the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), Josh Block. Elliot got his hands on an email Block recently sent to the Freedom Community where he charges liberal bloggers with anti-semitism and urges his fellow Freedom Community members to “echo” and “amplify” his smear and “use the below [research] to attack the bad guys.” Elliot gives and detailed and telling description of the email: Read more
