Elizabeth Warren Blasts Karl Rove-Linked Crossroads GPS Ad As 'Factually Wrong And Morally Wrong'
Crossroads GPS attacked Warren, a professor at Harvard Law School who has long advocated for financial reforms, last month for being too close to the Occupy Wall Street movement, directly contradicting the group's most recent ad suggesting that she is too close to Wall Street.
UN Climate Talks and NPR Programming
Climate change advocates continue to assert that science supporting the view that human activities are the primary cause of global warming has gotten stronger. To the contrary, it has weakened. Research on the Pacific Decadal Oscillation and the solar effects on cloud formation point in an entirely different direction. So too does the temperature history over the past 3 decades. Advocates have relied on computer projections that consistently overstate the extent of warming associated with CO2 emissions. With each passing year, the discrepancy between projected and actual temperatures strengthens the case that the climate system is less sensitive than assumed. We would do well to heed the advice of 14th century Florentine philosopher Guiccardini who observed:
Excessive forethought and too great solicitude for the future are often productive of misfortune; … seldom do things turn out as even the wisest predicted; and whoever refuses to take advantage of present good for fear of future danger … often discovers … that he has lost opportunities full of profit and glory, from dread of dangers which have turned out to be wholly imaginary. The globe’s most pressing challenge is economic recovery. Strong economies are better able to invest in innovation and adopt newer technologies. The road to new energy technologies and increased energy efficiency is built on strong economic growth and a recognition that industrial policy mandates that force or subsidize the use of uneconomic technologies are counterproductive.
US Youth Steal the Show at the UN Climate Talks in Durban
one particularly brave young American woman gave many observers goosebumps this morning: as US negotiator Todd Stern was called to the platform in plenary to give his address, Abigail Borah's voice rose from the back of the room, to speak "on behalf of the United States of America because my negotiators cannot," highlighting that "the obstructionist Congress has shackled a just agreement and delayed ambition for far too long." The plenary of leaders from around the world filled with applause, even as Borah was led away by UNFCCC security.
One PakistanHillary Clinton Pushed For Wider Plan B Access During Time In Senate
"The original FDA Advisory committee that recommended approval for Plan B, was virtually unanimous in its recommendation, and didn't find reason to draw a line at 18 or 17 or any age," Dr. Paula Hillard, professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Stanford University School of Medicine, told ABC News.
