One of the problems that led to both opioid and medical marijuana overuse has been that the notion of pain is subjective. If someone claims they are in pain, a doctor has no way to know how much of it is real and how much is psychological. From 1st through 5th grade, I attended St. Mark’s Roman Catholic School in Harlem, New York. At this predominately Black school, Black History Month was celebrated regularly and fully. At St. Mark’s (and many other schools in Harlem at that time), Black History Month was when Black history “decorations” (i.e. posters, timelines, special calendars and other informational décor) were brought out and hung on walls throughout the school.

A few weeks ago I wrote about a criminal who was caught in the act of painting a shotgun to look like a toy, presumably to deceive police and/or his prospective victims.
