To cite just one example, we strongly recommend his new post about Syrian refugees. Gack! In the passage shown below, Drum describes the type of behavior within Our Own Tribe which we've spent recent years lamenting. In our view, Drum is perfectly right in what he says here. If anything, he understates the size of the political problem at issue. Warning! Drum is discussing "the average person," a person our tribe loves to hate: DRUM (11/17/15): *Here's...more »

A senior EU official has claimed that every one of the radicals identified so far in Friday’s terrorist attacks in Paris are European Union nationals. The announcement casts even further doubt on the authenticity of a Syrian passport discovered on or near the body of one of the attackers. Uncut reprots: “Let me underline—the profile of the terrorists so far identified tells us this is an internal threat. It is all EU citizens so far. This can change with the hours, but so far it is quite clear it is an issue of internal domestic security,” High Representative for Foreign Affairs and ...more »
France was warned the day before the Paris attacks that they were one of several countries that the ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had ordered attacks on Iraq’s Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari said on Sunday that Iraq had shared intelligence on threats of attacks on France, the United States Russia and Iran. The warning said that the attacks in the coming days would involve “bombings or assassinations or hostage taking.” RT reports: A dispatch sent by Iraqi officials and obtained by AP shows that Baghdad warned members of the US-led coalition battling ISIS of imminent attacks ...more »

Before and after the Paris attacks I have had people on Twitter telling me that Koran verse 5:32 shows that Islam is a religion of peace as it says: 'If any one killed a person, it would be as if he killed the whole of mankind' I've heard this argument presented on BBC programmes too. The people who post this never respond, with other than abuse, when I ask them what the rest of that verse says and why they have edited it. And the BBC presenters never ask that question at all. Here's the whole of that verse: 'On that account: We ordained for the Children of Israel that if any o...more »

This is particularly important work that i was unaware of. I do not think that the event 12800 BP was a mere random event because it triggered a shift in the crust. However it induced bombardment that has been heavily understated. Occasional events will set societies back but not knock them out. The 2350 BC event coincides with the completion of the Great Pyramid. That explians the waning observed immediately after until 1159 BC when subsidence ended the core civilization. I do not think any civilizations ended then but many stagnated. . *Important interview here with lead...more »
At the very best, central planning can support major capital outlays, but truly little more. After that it must facilitate a communal system that supports best practice. Gwettting that wouod save the world an awful lot of greif. Capital spending allowed China to build an apparent modern economy. Of course we knew all that, but this puts the real numbers on it. Unfortunately like all climate science we cannot compare it properly to previous decades. I have little doubt that Jesus the man existed and even suspect that he was teaching spiritual master at the least and most likely an ascended master. We do have confirmation of his time in India as well which conforms well with hte statements made. What i am saying is that the story we have been given was both plausible in Indian terms and completely possible. What has clouded the issue has been that the story became a magnet for the proto mythos generated by all the existing spiritual movements and they did not hesitate to pile on. The fundamental problem we face is that the spirit body operates the physical body. This means that if all is working properly the interaction between the two is almost undetectable. The physical mind has its own tasking as well and is meant to run independently for most of the time. The spirit steps in to provide necessary guidance. What this screams is that mental illness is caused by mostly biochemical imbalances produced by foreign toxins or internal damage to the brain or even the body. This is very important because the complexity is likely such that it will require ...more »

Officials in Brussels have said that the people responsible for Friday’s attacks in Paris were likely to have used Sony’s Playstation 4 to coordinate the operation.
