The very final sentence

Craig at Is the BBC biased? - 10 hours ago
This, courtesy of DB, is *very* BBC: Yes, the poor "Muslim man's request for an imam to be present at his death in Alabama" is the story for the BBC - another tale of poor hard-done-by Muslims in Trump's America. And, as DB says, you do indeed have to go to the very final sentence of the BBC report to discover his crime: "He was sentenced to death in 1999 for raping and murdering a 15-year-old girl in 1995." Less agenda-driven media outlets would have mentioned that earlier.

Sokoloff is a plant biologist at the Canadian Museum of Nature and has just returned from a three-week expedition charting the plants of several Arctic sites. Michael Mann is the most notorious fraudster in the global warming scam. He was the key man in the team that constructed the "hockey stick graph" of temperatures in the recent millennium or two. This is the politically correct version of the original video "Hide the Decline" that roughly describes what Mann did. Given it's just a song, the explanation is very accurate but I still prefer more accurate explanations than songs. Visitors from Taiwan

Bruce K. Gagnon at Organizing Notes - 15 hours ago
Yesterday MB and I took my son Julian and his wife Emily (who are visiting from Taiwan) to Five Islands near Georgetown, Maine. It's one of my favorite spots and the sun came up after a dreary morning to brighten our trip there. When we got home Jules and Emily cooked us a great Chinese meal and then we went across the street to Bowdoin College to watch the #1 ranked women's basketball team in the nation play. They are undefeated in Division II and won again in a spirited game. No snow is going to fall while they are here but the warm temperatures of the last couple of days ... more »

Greek police protest transfer to riot unit to protect Alexis Tsipras and other Globalists...

*Greece's police union has protested demands by Globalis puppet Alexis Tsipras to transfer to the riot unit to protect him in Athens, underlining the dilemma faced by the banksters.* *They have to rely on the very police and army they are looting and abusing for protection from an angry, decompartmentalized public.* *Hit themselves by years of bankster austerity, pay cuts, debt and with no prospects of any improvement, the police have little incentive to protect their arch enemy Tsipras from his millions of Greek victims...* *Much better for everyone in Greece to switch to a state c... more »

The Army Spent $30 Billion on These 5 Wonder Weapons (And they Flopped)

Sebastien Roblin at Test Feed Using Fields - 15 hours ago
*Sebastien Roblin* *Security, * [image: https://www.flickr.com/photos/9790176@N07/12884925823] We break them all down. The United States spent $610 billion in 2018 on defense, roughly one-third of all military spending on the planet—but that doesn’t mean that money is always being used efficiently. Over thirty years, the U.S. Army has engaged in two long-term wars and several briefer ones without replacing the major weapon systems which entered service in the 1970s and 80s. In part, this is because the Army scaled back hi-tech equipment procurement in order to sustain expensive ... more »

The Ancient Greeks and Their Walls

Anoop Verma at The Verma Report - 15 hours ago
Part of Themistocles's wall in KerameikosIn his book *The Rise and Fall of Classical Greece*, Josiah Ober points out that as the city-states in Ancient Greece grew wealthier they began to fortify themselves by investing in long walls and other systems of defense. Plato was against the idea of border walls, while Aristotle favored walls. Here’s an excerpt from Chapter 2, “Ants Around a Pond: An Ecology of City-States”: In the Early Iron Age of the eleventh and tenth centuries BCE, Greek settlements were unwalled. But in subsequent centuries, along with developing forms of social org... more »

“Climate change” is so slow it is hardly noticeable

drinkingwateradvisor at The Drinking Water Advisor - 16 hours ago
If climate is defined as average weather over a 30 year period (i.e. WMO definition), then it would take several decades to see any true change show up given the wide variability experienced year to year. To illustrate, consider this … Continue reading →

Amy Klobuchar And Sherrod Brown Want To Be President Too

DownWithTyranny at DownWithTyranny! - 16 hours ago
I've tried to make it clear that the Worst Democraps Who Want To Be President series is not just for any candidate I don't like, but really for the very worst of the worst, like Gillibrand and Bloomberg. So... I may not want to see Amy Klobuchar get the nomination, nor Sherrod Brown, Cory Booker or Kamala Harris, but none of them belongs in that series. Still all fair game for criticism of course, but not as a "Worst Democraps." For example, reporting for BuzzFeed News yesterday, Molly Hensley-Clancy wrote that there's more to Klobuchar than Minnesota Nice. "[B]ehind the doors of ... more »

Team Patriot UK MPs should seize chance to form a new business and people friendly party after Globalist Brexit disaster

*New Jersey Becomes Second State Mandating Middle Schoolers Learn About LGBTQ Achievements* New Jersey will be the second state to mandate that middle and high school students learn about LGBTQ contributions. Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy signed Senate Bill 1569, which requires schools to adopt curriculums that “accurately portray political, economic, and social contributions of persons with disabilities and lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.” “The Governor believes that ensuring students learn about diverse histories will help build more tolerant communities and stren... more »

*Democrats Release Green New Deal. Here’s What’s in It* New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez released a resolution that outlines the “Green New Deal” that’s become a central part of the Democratic agenda. The Green New Deal resolution calls for “10-year national mobilizations” toward a series of goals aimed at fighting global warming, according to a copy of the bill obtained by NPR. A separate fact sheet claims the plan would “mobilize every aspect of American society on a scale not seen since World War 2.” That includes getting all our energy needs from “clean, renewable, and ... more »

. . . the first flight of the Boeing 747, the famous "Jumbo Jet", took place, on February 9th, 1969. Here's Boeing's official video of proceedings. The actual takeoff is shown from about 14m. 30s. onwards. Congratulations to Boeing on a landmark in aviation history. As of December 2018, over 1,500 747's had been built, and the type is still in low-rate limited production, primarily in freighter configuration. It's proved to be one of the most successful aircraft programs of all time, particularly in terms of the number of people carried - including the largest number ever c... more »
