Two trolls in mud time

Peter Cresswell at Not PC - 7 hours ago
The two Canadian ethno-nationalists arrived last night to continue trolling everybody in the country -- as they've been doing so well for the last month -- and if I had been give their hundred-dollar ticket price* every time I've been asked if I'm going tonight to their hoe-down, I'd have been able to pay for my own lawyers, with enough left over to hire a hall to put on an alternative show. The radio this morning reported they are here to argue against multiculturalism. That's not quite correct. They're here simply to attract attention to themselves, in which end their opponents ... more »

There was nothing particularly wrong with the studio we were using, but they were headquartered several counties away. If we were going to steer several thousand dollars of lucrative school picture money somewhere, was my thinking, why not steer it back to a business within the school district. So I found somebody who could handle the work and brought the contract back to our area. The move had the advantage of making service smoother (if there's a problem wit... more »

(source: Twitter) *Tyler O'Neil, PJ Media:* *New York Times Editorial Board Hires 'Angry Racist' Who Gets 'Sick' Pleasure Out of Racial Cruelty* On Wednesday, the New York Times hired Sarah Jeong to join their editorial board. Shortly thereafter, Jeong's old racist tweets emerged. The tweets aren't exactly ancient history. In 2014 and 2015, Jeong — senior writer at the Verge — unleashed a few Twitter tirades against people with a lighter complexion. She seems to ha... more »

The Nested Black Body Shells Model and Extreme Greenhouse Warming

Charles R. Anderson, Ph.D. at An Objectivist Individualist - 11 hours ago
*And Lessons from this Model that Show Us How Limited the Greenhouse Effect Actually Is* In a previous post, Critique of The Steel Greenhouse by Willis Eschenbach, I wrote about the Willis Eschenbach thought experiment model of a perfectly conducting sphere closely surrounded by a concentric perfectly conducting shell in which these bodies behave like black body radiators and the only energy loss mechanism is thermal radiation. That black body thought experiment was not presented as a good model of the greenhouse gas effect for the Earth. It was presented to illustrate that there... more »

Encounters With Giant Sharks In The Arctic

Bente Lilja Bye at Science 2.0 - Earth Sciences - 11 hours ago
It was one of these extremely rare days of calms seas far north in the world. When visiting the Arctic coasts of Norway, I often joke and say that the climate here is the same all year around, low temperatures, windy and in general very unpredictable weather. You can have blue skies one minute and rain pouring down almost horizontally! within the next minute. But this was not the case on this day, the 23rd July 2018. The temperature was reaching a whopping 32 Celsius and there were almost no movements of the air. In fact it was so hot, that the only livable place to be for a northe... more »

Trump’s Preposterous 'Collusion is Not a Crime' Defense: What Real Lawyers—If Asked—Would Have Advised His Campaign About the Trump Tower Meeting

bbauer at Lawfare - 11 hours ago
The term “collusion” may be useful shorthand for describing an illicit political alliance between the Trump campaign and the Russian government, but it has been far less productive as a framework for understanding possible illegal conduct committed as a result of that association. Alan Dershowitz has seized on the point there is no election law “crime” of collusion and thinks that settles matters: no crime, and therefore no grounds for impeachment. Now Rudy Giuliani has embraced this theory of the case, apparently motivated by the renewed attention to the Trump campaign meeting wi... more »

Seven Theories of the Case, Updated: One Year Later, What More Do We Know About L’Affaire Russe?

QJurecic at Lawfare - 11 hours ago
More than a year ago, writing with Jane Chong in May 2017, we laid out what we called, “Seven Theories of the Case: What Do We Really Know about L’Affaire Russe and What Could it All Mean?” The lengthy post was an attempt, as we described it at the time, to give: an overview of the facts known today, and . . . then put forth seven different theories of the Russia Connection case that might account for those facts. We present these in ascending order of potential menace, from the most innocent to the most alarming. In doing so, we attempt to narrow the field of discussion—or at le... more »
